caponester
Anyone else noticed that Jack is not who he seems to be? At first he appears to be a nice friendly doctor but when the show goes further we discover that he has a drinking problem and sports several tatoos, maybe he is the murderer, maybe he murdered someone on the operating table? papanesta
If you go to the website I just mentioned, it tells you he is. Not murdered so much, but he was under the influence while operating and the patient died.

I coulda swore that was his father Jack had flew to Australia to track down his father after he fled the country. Jack says his father was dead in the first episode but he is still alive I found this all out at channel4.com's Lost section. Some neat information on characters from that site. Many of the characters are like this. Especially Sawyer and Kate, who turn out to be the opposites of what they seem to be in the early episodes. caponester
Episode 3 is on tonight followed by episode 4 on E4. Be sure to watch. Anyone else think something going on with walts dog? remember that bit where it was watching the hikers through the bushes all sneaky like, I bet it's a demon dog or something
papanesta
Maybe it was to show it doesn't trust anyone anymore, after something that happened. I don't know It still trusts Walt, obviously. And maybe Loche, because he's in a happy mood.
Mike Tequeli
At first I also thought the Korean guy was trying to poison the others, but then I realised that it's probably just the writers trying to throw you off. The same they did with Charlie in the first plane sequence flashback, him running through the plane just before the turbulance was pretty sugestive that he had something to do with it. I love it when shows are like that though, always keeps ya guessing. I'm looking forward to the next episode, especially to see what Kate did to be in custody of the US Marshall. PSSST, I can predict the future and tell you whats gonna happen...... I fell special knowing that somehow.

You don't see much of him in future episodes. I mean, he's there, he's just not like the secret to the entire thing, or is actually a polar bear, or some crazy shizta like that. And, that DriveShaft site is cool. I especially enjoyed the article on the Oceanic Airlines crash. Very detailed, and extremely realistic.

Mike Tequeli
The Brits get all our stuff delayed and we get their stuff delayed but England doesn't put out as much stuff. BTW: Even though it isn't in Canada, the Magic Roundabout is my enemy, I saw it on all the serial boxes in London (it was everywhere but especially Sainsbury, obviously) so anyway it really pissed me off for some reason even though I don't know what it is. caponester
Just seen episode 4 on E4 last night, dam that episode was weird. First look sees the monster but denies he has, then he kills a boar all by himself... Oh and the black woman telling Jack that the people in the tail section weren't dead was just plain creepy, especially when jack kept seeing the mystery figure in the distance looking at him
Wolfwood
I felt like crying at the end of episode four. I would say, the best so far. Well, maybe second to episode one.
papanesta
@capone, Who says Locke actually killed the boar? That could easilly have been the monster. Also, the figure is explained later.
Chunks
I missed episode 3 last Wednesday, and now I feel like I will miss out alot on the story just because of that. Is this one of the shows that you can just watch the latest episode and understand everything, or is it one where if you miss just one episode, you fall really far behind?
papanesta
You don't fall really behind, but you might miss something about one or more of the characters. Channel4.com has an episode guide up anyway.
Clown.
episode 4 on tonight, i'm hooked allready. i didn't realise there was going to be more than one season. does that mean that at the end of the 25 episodes not everything is going to be known?
papanesta
From what I've heard, very little is known. You don't even find out what the monster is. This first series is just used to build up the characters and develop the idea of the island.
EmSixTeen
I'm upto as far as the newest episode on E4 (episode five? maybe six?), and it's getting really intriguing. Don't read if you haven't seen it: The whole thing to do with Jack, the flashbacks, how he tried to run after his Dad, the way he found the water and his Dad's coffin, all the damned craziness.. It's all really starting to get intriguing now, I love it.
cice
Oh, are you guys only up to episode 6? We in Australia just got the final episode on thursday, and we usually get all shows last. I can't believe that we have to wait until Feburary until season 2 starts. That's bullsh*t. I missed the first three episodes of lost when it started here, so I can't wait till the DVD's are released in november. Lost very quickly became one of my favorite shows on TV. caponester
When I first watched the coffin scene I thought there was 2 possible scenarios. First, the logical one, the australian customs lied to Jack and gave him an empty coffin hoping it would be buried without anyone knowing or somehow the illusions of his dad he was seeing were really him, alive somehow Like you said Emsixteen, it's getting very intresting, I'm also intrested to see where Locke is going all this time, he seems to knowhis way around the jungle, spending most his time in there. The scene where The hand reached out over the cliff for Jack was just freaky, I thought it might have been his dad or something. And when Jack ran up to the figure and it turned around it would have been 10x better if the face was all rotted and dead

There is now three questions that are getting to me now. 1. What did Jack's mother mean by saying 'You owe him it'? 2. Why is the coffin now empty? 3. How did Jack's father die? Edited August 27, 2005 by Wolfwood
Swarz
3. How did Jack's father die? I think it was insinuated that he drank himself to death. I think the doctor mentioned something along those lines... kinda... --- AMF --- -= A joke is a very serious thing - Winston Churchill =-

I think the doctor mentioned something along those lines... kinda... Yeah. That's how I interpreted it. And you'll eventually find out that Sawyer met Jack's father in the bar while he was drinking himself to death in Sydney. Maybe you didn't need to know that.
