Bigun
now san naderas patch is out will u be doing some videos on san anderas testing Now that the San Andreas Patch is out its gonna take longer for a video to come out because of the change of the gta_sa.exe The SA-MP team stopped production on SA-MP because R* said a patch will be released, and they didnt want to need to re-do all the work, since memory addreses and etc changed. What I wanna know is will SA-MP be continued now?

{DBC}Lance
but sa-mp will be 1.01 (and maybe 1.02 in the future) only?
Bungle
but sa-mp will be 1.01 (and maybe 1.02 in the future) only? that's an interesting point.. will sa-mp only be developed for those who have applied the patch, or will it work regardless of what version you are running? (i know that on MTAVC, people running either the 1.0 and 1.1 patch can play on the same server, but i don't know if it'll be the same for sa-mp). - Bungle
kyeman
We don't know yet. It will take some time to overview the new patch. Preferably we'd like to support 1 version that was easily obtainable by anyone that had SA installed. We're now dealing with 6 different versions of SA. The new patch seems to have a mechanism that stops mods like SA-MP, and many other memory based mods, from functioning. This is very disheartening indeed. thenight
just add a standard exe to the next SA-MP installation. They can't block mods of a game made for mods Edited August 11, 2005 by thenight
Kalegula
i cant imagine that Rockstar would stop with a patch ´the work on this. because they know that the mods a popular and so they get a bad image for this. i wouldn't buy any game in future if they realy do that

kyeman
Yeah, we're not going to risk software piracy charges or copyright infringement to bring you a free mod. Distributing the exe is not an option.
Kalegula
hmm the exe whos in the patch 1.01 is protectetd for mods. but what is if we find a way to pass the exe without adding a "cracked" exe. would this be a software piracy? i dont think so. because if you have a wall infront of you and on the other side is an open door. would this be illegal passing? =)
Bigun
@the smart guy: Not only that it's illegel, you got other 2 cons by suppling the exe: 1. Around extra 11 MB in filesize. 2. You lose the benefits of the patch, silly! Personally, I didnt have ANY of the problems that were fixed with the patch, but for some people, the patch is really helpful / made the game PLAYABLE! And cant you use memory hacking to disable protection? Andn what IS the protection?
Kalegula
i dont understand why rockstar do this. they dont build in the function so why they stop the work from you? its a bit confusing.....
njr1489
Removing the CD check has something to do with piracy. Rockstar would get in mad if people were to: 1. Crack the new exe 2. Give out the old exe because of the hot coffee It would have been fine if rockstar allowed hooking onto the exe.
kyeman
Let me clarify. R* did not make this themselves. The part that prevents our mod from working is part of the DVD protection scheme (Securom). We'd have no problem working with this, although certain legal aspects come into play if you start modifying any code that is designed as a copy protection mechanism. Even if it does not override the mechanism itself. This is still early days working with the new patch, so we don't have all the answers yet. There's a chance everything could work out fine. f3llah1n
There was a case in Sweden or something of a man who stripping the copy protection off his DVDs so he could burn them to play them in Linux He was took to court and the court 'twas for his own privite use, and he bought them legally, he can do what he wants to the disks But the problem would be with the EULA, has anyone actually read that to find out what it says? 's to the man who can read it all in one go
