i was wondering how can you can rob houses?

You have to get that black van and wait till after dark.

After you do a mission, you are able to do burglary /robbery at night when you enter a truck. There’s a truck in every city but only 1 per city. Search around, and you will find a topic with a map where the trucks are located.

Yeah, what the guy above me said. I'll see if I can find you a map and point you in the right direction of the van. There is a black van parked somewhere in Los Santos that you need to use to complete the burglary missions after the sun goes down. Watch for an edit.

 

Edit: Here it is. Just find the car that I have circled on this map and you should be able to do the burlgary missions with the R3 button provided it's after dark. 22:00-6:00 I think. I'll see if I can find them in all 3 cities for you.

Edit3: It's also worth mentioning that you can only rob houses after you complete Ryder's mission (one of his first) called Home Invasion.

Robbery Missions

Black Boxville *

* Mission Can Only Be Activated Between 20:00 (8PM) And 06:00 (6AM). You must be in the Black Boxville found in the parked locations mentioned below in order to be able to attempt the mission.

 

You can find a Boxville in Los Santos parked across the street to the South from the gym. It's about half way in the first garden, in front of the house. You'll also find a Boxville parked in an alleyway just in front of the Driving School in San Fierro. From the doorway of the driving school head North and navigate your way through the alley until you see the Boxville.
