SIP YEK NOD
The competitors: 1. 2005 Mustang Engines: 4.0L V-6 - 210hp - 240 lb/ft 4.6L V-8 - 300hp - 320 lb/ft 5.4L V-8 - 450hp - 450 lb/ft (shelby due 07)(estimated) Transmissions: 5-speed manual (standard) 5-speed automatic(option) 6-speed manual (shelby due 07) Curb Weight: 3,450lbs(V-8 manual) 3,300lbs(V-6 manual) Site 2. 2005 Pontiac GTO Engines: Aluminum 6L ls2 V-8 - 400hp - 400 lb/ft Transmissions: 4-speed automatic with overdrive(standard) 6-speed manual(option) Curb weight: 3,725lbs site 3. 2006 Dodge Charger Engines: 3.5L V-6 - 250hp - 250 lb/ft 5.7L Hemi V-8 - 350hp - 390 lb/ft 6.1L Hemi V-8 - 425hp - 420 lb/ft Transmissions: 5-speed automatic Curb weight: 3880lbs(V-6) 4031lbs(V-8) Site Any other information required to make your decision can be found at the respective sites ------------------------------------------------------------------- My preference: 3rd place: Dodge charger 2 words, four door. The origional charger was a muscle car, and as some see, the epitome of a muscle car. the 06 charger? a 4-door sedan with a truck engine. shows the dodge attitude of "put the biggest engine in it, and tell everybody its cool". Nearly every charger concept built looked better than the production model. 2nd place: Pontiac GTO 1 word, rebadged. Take 1 part australian car, 1 part american mediocre "performance" car company, and 1 part new plastic and you have a pontiac monaro. Now that won't play to the public, so you will have to throw in 1 classic car name, and hope they buy it. Well, they didn't, and the GTO is officially considered by many as a flop falling far short of sales expectations, and no supprise. the styling isn't in any way prepared for an american market obsessed with nostalgia, and besides color, the only option offered is the transmission. 1st place: Ford Mustang 2 words: teh sex. With styling not far from the last generation mustang, and greatly resembling the first and second generation mustangs, the styling is nearly perfect. The color selection, inspired by the origional colors, is absolutley fonamanal. it seems there isn't one offered color that looks bad on the car. The options seem to include anything you could want, including such options as a 1000 watt sound system and wheels with either a nostalgic, or modern feel. all in all, the mustang is a total package, and in my personal opinion, is just one step ahead of the others. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- And i am sure we can discuss this without those oh so intelligent "the mustang sux cuz the charger is the best" responses. so, lets hear your thoughts. GTA3Rockstar
The '05 Mustang, do I need to say more??? It looks dangerous and very sexy, none the less a great car... Yeah then its comes down to the Charger and GTO...
Trueno_Drifter86
Oooo umm this is hard Maybe the GTO cuz the Mustang is so commen like 10 mustangs for every GTO the charger was probably the biggest disapointment in the intior world. So I know people are gonna be pissed but 1.GTO 2.Mustang 3.Charger PS change the pic for the mustang the colour doesn't fit that car at all. Martini Racing
No offince, SIP, I know you're a Ford guy, but I prefer the GTO. If the Charger had been a coupe that wasn't a 300C in disguise, then that would be my favorite. But as it is, it's pretty much between GTO and Mustang, and I'm tired of retro cars, there's just too many, so GTO it is. I would like that GT500, though. And to be honest, SIP, leave the debate to people who own the cars in question. I don't trust your muscle car skills with that truck of yours. Ford guys will say anything to keep their Mustang from going the way of the Impala. I'd rather have a transfered Holden with 400 horsies than a continuation of an american car that leads down the tube. And Mediocre Perfomance? Dude, get over it, the mustang will only ever see the tail-lights of even the 04 GTO. Edited August 5, 2005 by tuff_luv_capo
SIP YEK NOD
the "mediocre" peformance was refering to the company, who claims to be a performance yet still produces mini-vans and 4 cylinder station wagons. and suddenly i can't have an opinion because i don't own one of the cars? this is a "what would you buy" not "what did you buy", and this is about the overall car, not just the performance. so try reading the entire first post before jumping to criticism next time, it will make you look like less of an ass. SIP YEK NOD
that is the point, to find out people's opinions, but tuff_luv seems to have taken it as GTO bashing because my opinion doesn't match his. i have no problem with people picking the GTO over the Mustang. its a matter of opinion which is what the topic is about. I'm allowed to be an ass. Why else do you think I come here. As for why I came off so harsh, it's because you left a topic where two people owning the actual car you dislike were making you uncomfortable, so what do you do? You make a whole topic called Mustang Vs. GTO, (and throw in charger to make it seem less obvious) and even label the damn thing as Mustang winning. Well no sh*t, maverick, you couldn't get off sucking a mustang's tailpipe long enough to think that we didn't already know your opinion?
SIP YEK NOD
you wanna try reading the topic again, or am i going to have to explain it to you this topic was made to leave those other topics for what they were meant for My preference: i made this topic to centralize the debate, and stated my preferance, and you assumed i thought i was stating fact even though i said "my preferance". i didn't label the mustang as winning, i stated my opinion, and expected others to do the same, but you can't seem to figure it out. this topic is to take the debate out of the "post your car" topic, and out of the "muscle car" topic, because its just two parallel debates in 2 seperate topics, now if you need me to explain it in smaller words i will. tuff_luv_capo
Funny thing is, I don't dislike you or the mustang at all, and your idea of making a new topic for it is fitting, if not a little obvious. I'm not really even debating since I have nothing to prove really, that last post I was even smiling as I typed it just wondering how it play out, but you seem to be very sincere on your intentions (dissapointing but oh well). Let me make the next versus! I promise I will think of somethin good.

So you picked the GTO because of how it looks? The new supercharged GTO has more horsepower than the mustang GT, but with the new Shelby mustang coming out, it doesn't even stand a chance. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|

No, I just prefer the GTO, that should have been the end of it, and stop telling us about the GT500! We know already! If you can afford the GT500, do you even need to considetr the GTO? The GT500 isn't what this topic is even about. Mustang's only, no Saleens or Steedas, just what Ford can do without help.
GTA3Freak-2001
As far as modern American muscle cars, the Mustang wins as it keeps the Mustang spirit going in looks and performance. I think that the Holden Monaro is the best Australian modern muscle.
KoLSPD2
Pontiac GTO, because it's not f*cking common like the Mustang, and I think both are good cars, but the GTO wins. (and <3 the GTO hood) 3rd: Musting 2nd: Charger 1st: GTO ('05)
OBrien97
people always bring shelby's and sh*t into the "mustang" talks... we're talking about Mainstream Production cars....and when it comes to the 05 mustang against the 05 GTO (or even '04 GTO)....the GTO is just flat out better.... Duders
The answer would be obvious that the Mustang would win knowing that SIP is a Mustang guy. Id have to agree with him though in this round. It just doesn't seem fair because the topic was created by you and all so it would seem quite unfair. A public poll should be setup imo. -duders
Devyl
You gotta remember, it all depends on the drivers of the vehicles too. You can have 600 H>P., but if you don't know how to use it right, it'll get you nowhere.

A public poll should be setup imo. -duders once again, you seem to have missed the point of the verses thing. two or three cars are put up against each-other, usualy cars that would compete in the real world, and people state their opinions, and we see who has the majority of the public backing. its not whoever strarts the topic that chooses a winner. what i said about the cars in the first post was my opinion on the matter, just like people's posts after that were their opinions on the matter. me saying my preferance is the mustang doesn't mean the mustang wins this "competition" it means that is one more vote for the mustang. Martini Racing
I didn't say it wasn't a Mustang, I said it wasn't an all Ford deal. They had help making it. Granted, SVT may be in-house, but the GT500 a home grown Mustang.
Cran.
For me, it would be between the Mustang and the Monaro/GTO. I love the Monaro, but the Mustang is pretty good... That charger is a discrace though.

StallionGT
1. <3 Mustang, the '05 Mustang is the winner for me becuase of the retro and sexy look. Of course, has to be the hottest car on the road for 05 and 06. 2. The GTO is one of the best looking Pontiacs I've seens for a while, that wins 2nd. 3. The Charger is a great car too, but it wins 3rd in this situation. 1st - Mustang 2nd - GTO 3rd - Charger
