Crashing when entering Caligula's

I've had crashing issues that are more or less taken care of by setting the sound acceleration to none or basic...we all know this issue.

 

I now have a more serious one. When I walk into Caligula's casino, after about 1 second, the game locks. Completely. Pressing the reset button fails to find the Hard Drive as that too...is probably locked...or something. I actually have to power down and power back up for the PC to find the HDD. Anyway, powering down and reseting is an issue but what I want to know is if anyone else has had a problem entering Caligula's? Thanks.
