sate
I just set up my Headset and microphone for Counter Strike. And now the sound in my 5.1 speakers just disappeared, and works fine 'in' my headset. I checked I haven't muted or disabled the speakers, it just disappeared. Any ideas? Win XP Pro. Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum. Creative 5.1 speakers. Some cheap ass headset.
Opius
Many soundcards mute the primary output if the secondary is being used. Does it work with the headset unplugged? Just out of interest, why would you need BOTH the headset and speakers going at the same time?

Perhaps if you plan on using the speakers, and then only the microphone, which would be entirely pointless, since there would be an echo, as well as feedback. EmSixTeen
Maybe the 5.1 sound on top of the headset just 'feels' better, eh?
Wolf68k
It could be ADGJDet.exe It's said to detect when changes are made to the ports, like when you plug in your headphones. You can disable it in MSConfig listed as either; Jet Detection or ADGJdet. Personally I just went into the registry and deleted it from the RUN key. sate
Yeah it just works again when you disconnect the headphones. Just weird because I used to use both Headphones and speakers at the same time (switched between them and nothing was wrong.
