Fozzy Fozborne
In PA you can get your full bike license as quickly as getting a permit and passing the safety course. If you have a DL, you can ride (with some restrictions) by yourself with a permit. If you don't have a DL you have to be within communicable distance of someone with a bike license to be able to ride. Kind of weird but that's how it's planned out. Back sometime in the early 80s I knew a chick that only got a bike permit then license. She didn't have to ride with anyone during her permit time. They changed a bunch of laws like 3 years ago. That is what actually forced me to get my real license. I spent over 20yrs just renewing my permit every year. Then they changed the law and said you had to take the written test every year and not just pay the $12(or whatever it was). Fozzy, I'm in PA too in case you missed it. You ride? You close to Philadelphia? If so you need to join us for the toy run in November. Largest toy run in the country and in one day we get more bikes than Daytona Bike week. I can not stress how great that run is. My crappy games at MyCrappyGames.com Free copy of Save The Puppies and Kittens

A mate of mine is selling a GS500F to replace it with a GXS-R-750. Low milage, Oxford heated grips, HID conversion, mechanically perfect, 9k miles, 56-reg bike. Been dropped a couple of times so some minor cosmetic damage but otherwise great condition. Not sure what he wants for it but it's probably going to be cheap. I can give him an ask? Ahh come on. Now that you have a car you need to pick up a bike. I have to think we have the same riding season. march/april - october/november. Having an off season isn't bad though. It makes the beginning of the season have the same excitement as when you first started riding, no matter how many years of riding you have in. Exactly! I kinda miss it now though, thinking about getting a Yamaha FS1 after i get my first paycheck at my summer job this year, kinda like this one: Paint it matte-black, some pin striping and detail removal and i recon it'll look pretty bad ass. Ah man. Serious? In Sweden any 15yr old can ride those on the street without a license? That is great!! So at what age does a young Swedish kid start begging their parents for one? Holy crap, I would have started my begging around 10yrs old. Taste Of Chaos
Trying to flog my bike at the moment. Cleaning it up, noticed the exhaust was a tad rusty. So I attempted to take it off and because the rust was so bad, after the screws were undone the whole thing fell to the floor leaving a large part of the downpipe still wedged in the exhaust port. That downpipe's completely buggered. And the end can won't come off no matter what I do to it. yay... Opportunity knocks once in a lifetime, temptation will lean on the doorbell. dog_day_sunrise
I've experienced a similar problem with a SV650 my mate was trying to turn into a minitwin rep. Ended up resorting to an angle grinder. Have you got a dremmel? You might be able to get it off with a metal cutting wheel, particularly if its rusted through.
Taste Of Chaos
That was my first thought. I've been told by quite a few people I've spoken to about it that a blowtorch is the best thing. Chuck a rag in the exhaust port then smother it in WD40 then let that work its way through and get some heat on it. That's the plan If not, I think I'll have to drill a slightly bigger hole in and then put a spacer in it to bring it back to the original diameter. But that's obviously quite risky and a last resort. trip
Have you got a dremmel? That was my first thought. My dremmel with cutting wheel saved my ass so many times with my '82 xv920. Side note: I finally got my camera mount almost perfect. I say we all mount cheap ass flip cams and make a bitchin' bike video. Gundog
Bikes are fun, too! Yeah, f*ck that sh*t. I just got out of the hospital. Went riding with my mate on his YBR-125, and we hit a rock with the front wheel. Crashed to sh*ts. I lost a fingernail, 10 stitches on my leg, my assbone took a beating, I'm full of cuts and bruises, and I destroyed my new SHOEI XR-1100 SYMMETRY helmet. To think I wanted to be a biker for life just yesterday. I've had it with bikes for now. I still wouldn't mind a Kawasaki Z-1000, though... Holy crap, I would have started my begging around 10yrs old. I think most of us just consider it a human right to get one, at least i did. They're not terrible expensive, think mine (early 90's yamaha DT) cost about $220 something all in all. And sure enough, the day i turned 15 it was standing outside my house They only do 30km/h by law, but after some tuning-rituals passed down from generation to generation you can get them up to 100km/h. Apparently even the king had one back in the 60's, a Push Florida, that was pretty tuned up which is illegal lol. Saw it at an museum in a town called Motala a few years ago. They're ridden exclusively by idiots around here. Get a Street Triple- far cooler. Everyone has an off, don't sweat it. At least you're in one (albeit battered and bruised) piece. It's not worth getting worked up over- would you stop walking it you tripped over a pavement, or stop breathing if you inhaled something unpleasant by accident? Illousion
Figured I'd take some pictures of my old 50cc Yamaha DT before I sell it. She's a '91. It's all stock, slow as all hell, ugly, but it's served me well in taking me to school and home when I was in 8th and 9th grade, which was one-two years ago. I also had alot of fun joyriding around with my buddies. It's been sitting since last summer so a week back I figured I'd put 'er back together and sell it. dog_day_sunrise
MASSIVE UPDATE Think it's about time I updated my bike history a little. Pics and potentially videos to follow. Triumph is now fully repaired (of sorts). Currently fitted with a full set of polycarb body panels again (a full set costs around the same as a single OE panel from Triumph), with the exception of the tail, which is currently a bright green one from a Speed Four. It underwent a top end rebuild and a full service, as well as rebuilding the front shocks and all the brakes, and has spent a bit more time abroad, including 2 days worth of laps of the Nurburgring (including one on which I hit an indicated 170mph thanks to a larger Speed Four rear sprocket fitted at the time). Over the last month or so it's received the following: > Full set of polycarbonate forward bodywork > Iris Gold (Techcorp) sprocket set (13 tooth front, and a 43 tooth rear) > X-link Iris Gold chain > Remote brake fluid reservoir > New double-bubble screen On order: > Daytona 600 race-spec slipper clutch (same gearbox and basic frame as the TT600 so should fit) > Daytona 600 race-sepc short shifter (see above) > Daytona 995 forged rear wheel Looking at other options including a major dose of powder coating for wheels/footrests/levers, am speaking with a local company to get a price on a dry carbon tank shell and tail, am also looking at exhaust options (as my Scorpion end-can is looking a bit worse for wear), as well as the possibility for porting and polishing of the head, and knife-edging of the throttle bodies. Bike has been weighed at 166kg wet, and should loose another 3-4kg with changed to the wheels (am considering options for the front wheel too), and power is estimated around 110bhp at the crank. Road going race-rep slowly becoming track weapon... BMW has been sold now, and with the Triumph becoming a pretty much dedicated track/weekend bike I need to scratch the itch with something else. Currently considering a K6/K9 era GSX-R 750.
