Deciphering those tough Hip Hop lyrics

I've been a fan of hip hop for a long time now, but I've just recently gotten into my MF Doom "phase." I went and got as many Doom albums as I could, and I'm just loving every one of them. But the problem is that I have a lot of trouble trying to "decipher" the lyrics of many of his songs. He uses a lot of clever wordplay and double-meanings that I just can't seem to grasp. Take this line from "Kookies", for example:

 

"One lonely evening alone home/

End up with carpel tunnel syndrome/

Here i am known for giving heavy back aches/

Grown and living off of little debbie snack cakes"

 

This lyric alone took me quite a while to figure out what it meant, but I'm sure I got it now. To me, with this rhyme, Doom is talking about internet porn and how he's grown man who's known for doing damn his thing with the ladies, but somehow gets caught up in looking porn featuring girls half his age (Little Debbie snack cakes). Now I know this may seem like quite an easy rhyme to figure out for most, if not all of you. But honestly, this is something I just am not good at. Even with this problem, I still can enjoy Doom's sick flow and smooth delivery, but I feel like I'm just missing out on some of his amazing lyrical skill.

 

So after all of that, my question to you is: What lines in rap songs took you the longest to figure out? Lines that were so complex that you didn't get it until the 5th, or 6th listen.

Yeah, the "One lonely evening alone home" part instantly let me know that it was gonna be about...ahem....well, you know. But the "Little Debbie snack cakes" part had me pretty confused. It's a great line, but I know there are tons more like it that I just don't get.

This happens to me all the time, but it's not so much as I don't understand what it means, I just don't think about it, then one day I will think about it and understand it.

Sometimes I think Doom writes songs that have a general theme, but with lyrics that don't always mean something. This way, his flow can get really complex and the rhyme patterns sound really nice even though what he's saying isn't really meaning anything. To put it a little more simmply, the lyrics don't mean much in verbal language, but they make tons more sense musically. Know what I mean? Kinda?
