San Andreas Nut
hey what do you guys think is better: Playstation 2 online or Xbox live? i mean i have heard mixed opinions some people say xbox live has better choice of games but others think playstation 2 online is way better. what do you think? i have been contemplating getting ps2 online, for those of you who already have it ,is it good?,does it lag much?(what speed are your connections?),whats some good titles? i did a quick search, i think a topic like this was once made but got deleted off the server. Opius
As a heads up, you pay for online capabilities per-game on the PS2, whereas with Xbox Live you pay for all games. If you've got more than two games you're going to play online, Xbox Live is definantly the cheaper option.
Gamefreek79
Are you serious? If I remember right you just had to buy the equipment and the rest was free. I would've said PS2(thinking it was free), but after knowing this, I'd say Xbox live is the better option.
JayC
Xbox Live! is much better. It is only £40 a year as well.

I would've said PS2(thinking it was free), but after knowing this, I'd say Xbox live is the better option. PS2 Online IS Free, you pay for the Network Adaptor and thats it. Theres no monthly fee or anything involved, although it depends on the game. With Xbox Live you pay so much per Year on top of the cost for the game, with PS2 Online you pay nothing only the cost of the game. Although you do get the cost per year for Xbox Live it's believe that is the far better option as it allows you to do so much more in terms of downloadable content and such, I personally don't have Xbox Live nor an Xbox so I can't judge it, I do however have a PS2 and PS2Online. Grandthefter
xboxlive is great, i cant really compare it to ps2online because i dont have that. But i can still say that xboxlive is worth the money per year. And you can move you account over onto the xbox360 easily too when that comes out so you dont have to worry to start paying again when you get the next xbox (if you are going to get it that is)
Venom
Xbox Live is better. The Xbox was built like a computer...and had Live from the start, unlike PS2. It's cheaper...and you can download content!
anus
Idon't have either Xbox Live or PS2 Online, but I've used them and all I can say is that Xbox Live pwns PS2 Online. I have a PS2 as well, but definitely Xbox Live is better in online gaming far more than PS2 Online.
San Andreas Nut
ok thanks guys PS2 Online IS Free, you pay for the Network Adaptor and thats it. Mafia Righthand_Man
Xbox Live for sure. The only 2 games I have for PS2 online are Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2. It's a very limited selection. Xbox Live has a much bigger selection.

GTA3Freak-2001
Xbox Live! is much better. Yup WAY BETTER You guys are wrong ps2 on-line is way better. Oh yeah and why is that? Let me see, limited online capable games, dial-up users allowed which mean DSL and faster users suffer, certain games have seperate monthly fees, no downloadable content, no main central online service, only few games offer voice/headset features. Seems like Xbox Live is just better no matter which way you look at it.
StallionGT
This is coming from a strict Sony buyer, and I have to say, the XBOX Live is the better online gaming source when it comes to consoles. But if you aren't into a yearly fee, go with PS2 Online. Becuase it is free.
Superilldude
My vote for XBOX live as well, and I'm a PS2 fan. The advantages I can see PS2 online having over XBOX live is that it's free and might have more players online since it's basically free. Just a basic theory though. Cran.
Xbox live. Xbox live surpases PS2 online, it's not too great on PS2..
Rayo Puño
Even from a Sony fanboy, XBOX live is better. Even though PS2 online is completely free (i think ONE game charges for it, FF), Live owns the hell out of it. I can't tell you how pissed I get at having to play dial up users online. Gela
ps2 - 40 bucks and your set for life, but poor online interface xbox live - mothnly fee but better overall online based games like halo

If you've got more than two games you're going to play online, Xbox Live is definantly the cheaper option. Complete and utter bullsh*t. With PS2 online, you only have to pay for a handful of RPGs (two come to mind). I can't think of a single game that you have to pay for online that is not an RPG. But in regard to which is better, probably Xbox Live. I hate Halo, and don't have an Xbox, but from what I hear, it does sond better. PS2 online does have some rather fun and kickass online games though. Take SOCOM and SOCOM 2 for instance, you will be addicted to those. And about the comments on dial up, only a select few PS2 online games support dial up.
ganja_man_biatch
i'm gonna buy the ps2 adapter for 1 game and that's mgs3 subsistence. othere than that X box live is the better of the

Jumping Snakes
ps2 - 40 bucks and your set for life, but poor online interface xbox live - mothnly fee but better overall online based games like halo 2 You haven't heard that you have to pay online for some games on PS2 online, have you? <FBI Barly any Ps2 games require a monthy fee...so far I have only seen 2 games that have asked for a monthy fee: Everquest and Final Fantasy 11...and if your into those types of games it is definitly worth the extra money but thats a different story. Its really hard to say which is better here because your taste in games effect your decision. But if your looking at performance...just look at it this way...you get what you pay for...Socom1 and 2 are very addicting but you sure can't get by the lag in those games although its manageable...as for like NFSU...ugh that game lagged like hell...fun but alittle annoying at times.. If you can afford paying 90$ for Xbox live and Ps2 adapter(assuming you dont have the small Ps2 which has the adapter basicly built into it) just get both loll Lots of fun ^^
