etniesfan
I remember when I first got GTA:SA the disk lasted for 5,6 months and I took care of it just like listed below. Now I bought a new one about two months ago and its already f*cked up. And I took care of it, cleaning after use putting disc skins on it when I play and when in case, I think Rockstar uses cheap discs after the game is new. Do you guys think so to? Also can't wait to get bully rockstars new game

Chances are you have curious lil rascal in your midst.
GTA3Freak-2001
I am pretty sure all game company's use similar disc manufacturing plants so I'd say the actual disc isnt cheap but rather that GTASA needs to use the disc alot, actually 100% of the time so its prone to go bad quicker. TheDude5000
Disc skins suck. I used one with KOTOR, and it came loose a little while inside the console, I didnt notice this of course. I tried to save my game, but I guess since the disc skin wasnt tight enough, the disc couldnt be read, and all my KOTOR files were corrupted. Sir Random
Do consoles actually wear out discs ??? I use PC only, and all my games still work perfectly and my CDs are as good as new (going all the way back to Duke3D). If a disc wore out, I would expect a replacement from the manufacturers. I am not saying it is impossible for a disk to get scratched or damaged in a machine but highly unlikely any major event would happen. 90% of the time you got a dirty case or sleeve or disk has been laying on carpet or something read side down. quackaddict
I bumped my ps2 while my disc was being read and it would start doing wierd things and then say "disc read error," so I had to buy another one. Definetely was the console that messed it up. How else could you just bump the console and it never be the same? I was playing my 2nd copy of San An and my girlfriend wouldn't stop yelling at me so I threw my contoller in her direction (no, I didn't hit her, nor was I trying to). The ps2 disconnected from the power cord and slid a few inches off my vcr. I was really scared when I plugged it back up (after getting head) and it hasn't f*cked up on me. Thank God. I hold on to a couple extra copies now.

Quackaddict I can't stop myself askig you a question : did your girlfriend yell a you because you were playing ? No, lol. She was yelling at me because she says that we do everything on my terms. Which is pretty much true. I've learned over the years that once you give them a little room they run with it and expect it everytime. On a side note, she does sigh, or give me a little attitude when she calls me from work and asks what we are doing tonight and I say, "I don't know about you, but I'm playing San Andreas." Back on topic, I bought a new ps2 (old box version) in October when San An got released. It died and I just replaced it with a slimline 1 week ago. So, I think they kill ps2 consoles as well. //ghost
If you are having trouble with the PC cds. just use a no-cd patch. No, they're not illegal. They merely allow you to play the game without the cds.
