51L3N7 4554551N
Good. At least theyve finally got a smart person showing people that modding is good and taking it away would devistate many more than they think

mikeswi
It's also worth mentioning that nearly everyone in the GTA3/Vice City/San Andreas mod scene have purchased each title twice. Each of those three games was released in the month of October for the PlayStation 2, with the PC version following in May or June of the year after. Most of us ran out to buy the console versions to play the games as soon as they came out, and later bought them again for PC just for the mods. So for Rockstar, the ESRB, or the US Congress to prevent us from modding games would have a devastating impact on sales. Glad to see that in the BBC. I've made the same point on my blog but nobody reads that I don't think, unless they stumble in from Google. Make games unmoddable and they're going to lose *a lot* of sales. NUTZ_J98
Why is he worried about modding? "Hot Coffee" is not going to stop modding. Why would someone go so public about nothing? Besides, this couldve have been posted in the other 14 topics on this subject.
D Jones
Nutz, the congress (or whatever) is planning on to stop people to be able to crack into the game and not mod. Good to see someone step up, get there word out there.

He's concerned because the Hot Coffee Fiasco has put Modders in a negative light thanks to the Biased Media, this at least sheds some positive light on the Modding Community. He's been modding the GTAGames since GTA, he is one of the legends of the GTA Modding Community, he has a right to be concerned, and going public like this will not only promote the GTACommunity but give people a better idea of what it is. rappo11
I saw this on GTASanAn's homepage. It's great that the mod community is finally being represented. And who better to do so than Illspirit? And, NUTZ_J98, he's right. There's supposedly going to be a downloadable patch that will make it so that you can't modify your game. Main downloaders: soccer moms. Rockstar Games to cease manufacture of current version of title and offer a downloadable patch to prevent modification of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for PC From the Take 2 Games Press Release. Yeah, I have been modding GTA since the first one also (mainly a texture artist) but the thing is that Rockstar put the modding community in a negative light before they got busted lying. It still dont make sense until someone can post a link to where someone is trying to ban modding. Besides, how would they inforce "a law" on this. Like they inforce piracy. And the patch will only block the old content not change the whole format of the game so you cant mod it. The freakin download would be as big as the game. He's not just reffering to GTA in that article but rather how this may effect other games. The ESRB has been called upon to tell game company's to make their games mod-unfriendly so that so-called unapropiate content can't be made. YeTi
It's good to see at least one major news corporation covering both sides of this "scandal". Agreed. And as the BBC says a committed modder known as Illspirit sticking up for us. And i do believe that if r* made the gta games unfriendly it would damage their reputation and they wouldn't sell as many. The pc version would have hardly any sales if it were unmoddable. R.I.P. Yes it would damage them terribly. And how about all the games that have mdk's released for them. Would that be illegal now? I see in no way this could impact the modding community except for you gotta go to porn shop to buy GTA games. Since they proved that "Hot Coffee" was not done by a modder then they cant take action against us over this. If they do then it undermines their whole investigation and I am sure lawyers would already be all over it.
fuckindumass
eh, what can I say. Those who want to censor us, block us from modding games, why don't they just move to one of the countries that already ban such things. Oh, I know why, in a country like that they'd have to work for a living and would have nothing to show for it. Maybe Jack and Hilary etc. need to spend a few years in a gulag and experience the end result of their efforts. The United States needs less people like them, not more. Ha ha, Hilary must be really bent about sex since her public humiliation a few years ago. I can see why Bill would look elsewhere for his needs, she's just a cold, messed up bitch. I can see why R* named that freak in Vice City after her.
NUTZ_J98
Hey now I love Hilary in VC lets leave the freaks outta this since the one on blast here takes that term to a whole other level. I got to thinkin today though that what if they decided the only way to make for absolutely sure that our kids are safe from this is to make all video games 18+ unless sponsered by PBS. Just let that settle for a sec............................................................................................................................................................................................................................
