Getting to other (locked) islands

Step 1	suit up
	Take the Admiral the lawyer gives you and head south to where the picture is (radar enhanced for easier location). If you take the stairs in the left of the pic, you'll get armor. When you come back down, grab the PCJ600 there and nead north.
Step 2	get yourself and the bike into the Film Studio
	Head north and take the curve that takes you over to Prawn Island. At the foot of the bridge there, turn left. Take the stairs you see in the first pic. Take the right ramp over the alley as seen in the second pic. Once there, head to the right a little bit then do a U-turn and take yourself to the end of the "plank" there and turn around. You should be lined up like in pic 3. If done correctly, this will not only get you into the Film Studio, but will also give you your first Unique Jump.
Step 3	getting onto the western island
	Once inside the studio, head to the back corner where the Packer is parked. Turn it around so that it faces just right of the water tower and the face of the truck is lined up with the white crate as in the first pic. Once you're lined up, exit the Packer and immediately begin walking away so Tommy leaves the door open. Now get back on your bike and head for the opposite corner as seen in the second pic. Gain as much speed as you can and hit the Packer straight on as seen in the third pic. ONCE YOU ARE AIRBORN, start aiming to your left so that when you land, you won't go straight into the rail and fly off into the water.

I'm sure someone has already mentioned this method. It's quite simple, and allows you to reach the second island within a matter of minutes of starting the game. If someone has already done so, then please feel free to remove this, or whatever your will permits.

 

Start by driving an ambulance to the docks.

 

 

 

Go to one of the locked gates.

 

 

 

You'll notice that there are no fences on either side of the gates enclosing the fence from the lining to the gate itself. Use this to drive the ambulance on the edge.

 

 

 

Push the ambulance into the water like so:

 

 

 

If you want go grab another vehicle, like the cheetah just a little ways away at the south end of the docks, then put it alongside the ambulance for reassurance. Don't worry about the ambulance disappearing, as most of you know the engine stores both the current and previous vehicles in the memory.

 

 

 

Just drop it right next to the ambulance.

 

 

 

Now's the easy part. Just jump on top of the vehicles, prepare for Tommy to do a roll when he lands. You can accomplish this with one vehicle, but with two it's nearly impossible to miss.

 

 

 

Finish by just jumpping across to the other side of the fence. If the weather is rainy, like it was when I took the screenshot, the waves help you get height with the car. That's the other nice thing about using two vehicles for this, opposed to one, the second one slides to the left of the first so it's closer to the docks and makes the final leap easier.

 

 

 

Now just jack a sailboat and ride to freedom... or the other piece of land in this case.

 

 

 

Anyhow, as I mentioned, this is pretty simple and I'm sure most of you have already succeeded with this. You can accomplish this with one vehicle if you want, but I wrote it using two so anyone can easily achieve what this was meant for. If for nothing else, it leaves you with a few minutes of joy.

I've also managed to get across at the film studio, I assume you mean using the edge of the bridge and wall to get across. I figured pictures would brighten it up, although it seems some of them have graphical issues since I toned down the size of the pictures, 1024x768 to 512x384, nonetheless. Just thought someone might have fun doing that.

 

I just had a quick look at the topic DiVaio posted, that's quite an interesting way to do it. Obvously my quick pictures don't compare to the completely formatted guide of Demarest.

 

Here's another bike method that can be approached at the film studio. Rapidly accelerate towards the stop sign and hit it head on, the stop sign is a little bit before the solid construction area.

 

 

 

It may take a few tries, but eventually Tommy will fly upwards along the solid surface and land on the top of the area like so:

 

 

 

Now just run to the other side of the bridge.

 

 

 

Now your home sweet home.

 

 

 

This method isn't exactly the easiest, so be forewarned it may take numerous tries just to do it.

I know everyone has there favorite method of getting to the west island early-- don't forget mine (This works on PS2, not sure about PC or Xbox).

 

This clip shows how you can drive through the barrier on the south bridge, you have to take the turn wide left as you approach so you can line up with the gap-- you have to be driving fast and be upright as you reach the barrier.

 

Drive though barrier 800 kb and about 15 seconds shows how to get to 2nd island early via the south bridge (I found this on accident).

Hi, this is my first post so if the metod is not good or whatever sorry...

 

Enable 'Dodo Cars' (COMEFLYWITHME for PC, for PS2 and sorry cuz i dont know how it is on XBox) and get a fast car. Go to Leaf Links. Start speeding and tap Down to fly! If u've done it right, the car will pass the bridge. If not, u will crash into a invisible wall. Try again!

May be my way is not the easiest one, but I found it out when I just bought VC (year ago). You nedd to drive to the bridge, that leads to the island with film studio. Stand in the middle of the bridge, but in the othe side of the handle rails (to be ready to jump onto the passing-by ship). You should face yellow abandoned mansion on the left, and endless ocean in front of you. Then wait until any boat (yacht - is the best to jump on it, also catamaran is good) drives almost under the bridge then jump on it. Of course you need to make several attempts, but it really works, and even fun, because if you land on any boat, the driver then begins to run out of the boat into the water...

Another way I remember is running full speed at the small fence at the pier on a bike. If angled correctly you'll fly forward off the bike, over the fence and water, and land on the pier. Then just grab a boat. Might take a couple of tries to get the angle right so you land on the pier and not in the water.

On VC when u have a van u can park on the sidewalk by the star island gates and jump over an invisible wall on the left of the road. While i was there i was able to get the packages and a boat and then i went to the mainland. I got enough packages to get the sparrow and then i just flew every where with the islands still locked.

Sometimes, I use the "seaways" cheat and just drive across the water. Sometimes, I turn off the gravity with GravMod and either start running and jump across or turn the gravity off, while speeding in a car, then turn it back on, once I'm over the other island. It just depends on how I want to do it.

This little tutorial shall help you reach the other island at the very-very-very beginning of the game. I highly recommend this to anyone, especially if somebody wants to play WITHOUT CHEATING and stuff, and have heavy weapons, and stuff to make game completion easier by a LEGAL way!

 

Preludium:

Y'gonna need some money first to the 100% succees for this trick. You will need to purchase the Hyman Condo at the other island, so collect some cash. Some weapons are also recommended to have, so I suggest complete some Vigilante missions with the vigilante's Cheetah. It's also a wise thing to purchase the Vice point apartments near the North Point Mall to avoid cruising through the whole isle in case you fail.

 

The trick:

You will travel through the water via boat, but there in only one spot at Vice point, where boats sometimes collide with the land. It's the tall heap next to the North Point Mall. This place is near the Mall's parking lot building entrance, a bit farther, next to the water. There are lots of trees around there, so it's difficult to miss it now. Get a vehicle,and drive up to the hill. Ensure that the vehicle's front is parallel with the iron fence. Then get out, and wait for the coming boats. There are many boats cruising around there, and there is a fair chance for them to collide, and one of them will drive exactly to the tall surface-wall, and hits the concrete. This works even better if you have two-stars wanted level, and police boats may also hit the wall, or make other boats to hit the wall. Anyway, as I said, when you see a boat almost exactly at the bottom of the wall, drive there, get out of the vehicle, climb on it, then jump! If you're successfull, y'shall land on the deck of the ship. The owner will run away into the water, and die. In case you captured a police patrolship, knock out the policeman, then drive to the other isle. Get out of the ship on the correct spot, head to Downtown, purchase the Hyman Condo located near the stadium, and y'll get a helicopter. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE! Then you can do what you want...with the help of your helicopter, y'll be able to collect all hidden packages, obtain rare weapons and stuff like that.

 

A word of caution:

Once you made it on the deck of the ship, be careful not to die until you buy the Hyman Condo,and save the game. If you die on the locked island, y'shall spawn on the original spot!

This dirty trick requires some time,and patience, so if at first you don't suceed, try,try again! Trust me, it'll work!

You will need to purchase the Hyman Condo at the other island, so collect some cash.

Um... Hyman Condo is ON the other island. How will purchasing it help you get there in the first place? Also, since you're recommending it for the sake of saving (a good idea I might add), then just get Skumole. You can get the cash for that from robbing one store and there's a coupld down the road from it. Plus a Police Maverick is right behind it, so you have a heli too.

First, this is cheats and TRICKS

 

Then, the Hyman Condo buying is for save your game, not just for the helicopter. Y'know if you die, you'll spawn near the hospital on the first isle. So it's wise to buy the Hyman Condo,especially if you're collecting the hidden packages. The last one is near the military base, and there is a fair chance that y'shall be overran with hundreds of soldiers waving their M-16 (or M4). So if you have a save on the other isle.

Dem was pointing out that the skumhole shack is also on the 2nd island and 1/14 the price of the Hyman condo-- it will accomplish the same thing (provide a save point) and is cheaper (with a police helil right across the street).

 

There are several ways to get to the 2nd island early-- it sounds like your way will work but may not be the easiest.

 

I'm going to find an earlier thread on this and merge your method with it-- I forget which section its in give me a minute.

Yeah,that's true, I forgot about that shack...

However, I prefer Hyman Condo,since the roof can be a real asylum in case of police helicopter attack, and y'can collect your hidden package reward weapons there. But right, the shack is cheaper.

 

Another thing: If you shoot the approaching hostile helicopter by using the .357 rifle (it's FG42 paratroop rifle originally) exactly when it's approaching, 3 or 4 shots will kill the pilot, and the helicopter shall crash, so there is no need to use chaingun, or RPG-7 to mash it down.

I'm not saying you can't buy the hyman condo-- it has advantages (garages).

 

One downside of doing this on PS2 is that there is a glitch with the hyman condo on PS2, if you buy it before you have collected 70 packages, you won't get all the weapons there, only the ones available to you at the point where you buy it-- so if you only have say 31 packages or so, the best weapon you can get there will be the colt python.... just something to keep in mind-- it doesn't do this at the other save points and I'm reasonably certain this was fixed on PS2 and xbox-- maybe even in the 2nd edition of VC... but the glitch is there in the original PS2 version.

I know, I know...that's why I always collect all pickable packages on the first isle, 'fore I start to screw around at the boats. I get lots of money, and by the time I purchase the Hyman Condo, I'll have lots of weapons. I also use the Ammu-nation trick...killing the owner, back to the condo, then back to Ammu-nation, killing the owner #2...y'can get lots of Colt Python bullets that way, and you even don't have to cheat.

 

By the time y'collect all 100 packages, y'shall be rewarded with the Hunter helicopter. It's strongly recommended that if you go there to obtain your prize, equip y'self with a Colt Ptyhon,and a chaingun. There are lots of soldiers. But it seems when there are policemen, the soldiers start to flee.
