my goal: drive thru food... towing missions..

ok, i've started my way into the scm, i've already placed a heart at each hospital as per VC and 3.

I've added a couple stars.. particularly one at the end of the pier, where you have to drive a car off it real fast to make it... (you'll lose your car).

 

I want to add a mission circle at the cluckin bell drive through.

have it detect your presence while in a car.

detect whether you have $20.

take that $20 and feed/heal you.

..then you can drive on to do more taxi missions..

i also want to add towing missons..

for example:

a particular tow-truck you get in, triggers a mission to go pick up a certain car somewhere, and tow it to a particular destination.

then so - on and so-forth.

 

i plan to tow cars to repair shops, do repos, etc, etc.

 

i need to limit the character to the tow-truck, give you 30 seconds toget back in, and addd time between missions...

..pay the player after dropping each car off at a destination...

 

the target zone would need to detect the truck, the towed car (not just TYPE of car, but a particular one (like vigilante or firetruck missions).

 

 

if i could set it to use ANY tow truck (using a sub-mission button like all the others, that would be great.

if anyone has any ideas on how to accomplish any of these, please post me a little advise or code... thank you.

i'm doing my own research right now, but it's slow going.

Im fairly new to SA modding too but Im making good progress thanks to these forums. Without doubt the best advice Ive seen is to copy some existing code and base your new stuff on that, making small changes each time you run the game until you arrive at a satisfactory end result smile.gif

 

You could pretty much copy the Taxi driver mission coding to make your Tow Truck missions, just swap the taxi for a tow truck and swap the random actor for a random parked car. Instead of testing if the actor enters your taxi, instead test that your tow truck has been attached to the car.

 

With your drive through, you could copy the code thats used for the Chillodog vendor and modify it for your drive through.

 

It would take some time and a fair amount of tweaking and testing but seems very doable to me - Ive put the Pizza Boy missions from VC back into SA and they work perfectly well and exactly like VC - all I did was copy and heavily modify the Courier missions.

I agree with the first part, but it wouldn't be as easy as cloning Taxi Driver. Taxi Driver sniffs for a random person in the area. But on a mission like, say Firefighter, a vehicle is spawned SOMEWHERE. I think that would be more appropriate. But he did mention something about a 30 second timer for getting out. For that, it would be best to immitate Vigilante.

 

@Master: Your best bet is to not give the player 30 second leeway and just clone Firefighter, but instead of checking for extinguished fire, hitch it up and check if it's dropped off proper. Not for a beginner coder (if you are one). The drive thru is easy. It would require a bit more than what random posted, but that's about it.

Actually, the tow truck submission can be much easier than you think. I wouldnt bother to copy existing code for that..

All you need to do is spawn a random car somewhere near the player (you CAN use submissions code for that tho), randomly choose a destination off a premade list, then just keep checking these stuff:

1. Is player still inside the vehicle? if not, end mission

2. Is car at destination? If so, jump LabelXatbeginning

 

If you dont let the player exit his truck, the ONLY way the car would get to the destination is by being towed (or pushed, but cmon tounge.gif ) so you dont need to check if its attached or anything.

 

And random pretty much posted all the code for the drivethru; might wanna add to the player's fat too.

I assume you want the drive-thru thing to happen whenever you goto that place, so I would do it as a thread.

Search for "004F: create_thread" and you will find a bunch of create_thread commands. Add your one there and then search for ";----" which should be the start of mission 0 and add the thread code above that.

but it's a real dirty work made out of copy and paste, looking back on it i'm thinking that i shouldn't even post it , it was my first work on the main (expect for spawn cars and guns.....). I hope it will help you and i might get back to work on that soon but since this time i had so many ideas going throught my head that i found more fun (so get higher priority) than the towing but i hope soon i'll have time to help you soon.

wow that a lot of code for a small tow truck mission

well as im wanting to learn more about scm after ive finnished my small little secret pickup for my mod ill have alook try imate the firetruck missions

 

would it be possible for the game to check wether players car hook is attacked to another car?

 

cuz what i was thinking is text pops up on screen tells u where the car is then displays it on ure radar

then u hook the car up then text comes up sayign now take it to the garage

in SF u could use cj's garage

in LS i cant think of one naybe on of the garages by the bball cort

and LV maybe wuzies one and another 1 not sure of this yet

 

wil there be sum sort of reward for completeing a certain number of mision?

Just an idea, you could maybe do the mission for the police, you enter a parked tow truck in the police compound at the nearest city and then the mission starts. Then you must tow trucks to that compound.. actually makes sense if you ask me tounge.gif

 

You should look at the code to open the car-access gates of the compounds. Shouldn't be too hard.

hi i love the idea of drive thru take away would this include all fast food resturants such as anything with a drive thru lane

example cluckin bell and burgershot only have drive thru lanes

i would much prefer to pay the normal price of a meal such as "buster" costs $2 and would liKe it to stay that way

i like the idea of food healing you too nice work

any way you could include the akmod light i think petrol refill and takeaway drive thrus are the only things missing in the game that would make it alot better for people that need a quick fix situation

 

 

anyway love the idea and will start to make this mod when i learn the script files properly

anyway keep up the good work guys rahkstar2.gif and long live GTA

Last I heard, Glitch got it to work for one location. See, the difficutly with this concept is all the different restaurants. I'm assuming the normal restaurants aren't so pervasive because they can switch to interiors and such. An outside mod like this wouldn't have that luxury. confused.gif Talk to Glitch though. He's succeeded he said.

Well I'm working on adding all the locations but I didn't add the menu I made it so you have to drive to the intercom stop then the window stop it takes away $20 and add's 100 to your health. I'm trying to get it so it adds fat too.

i would like to code the missions to randomly pick a destination from a big list.

that way you mihgt have to drive ALL the way across the planet for some missions... or it could be across the block.

 

it would be nice to give this leniency to taxi missions, for more variety, that you might have to drive someone across the bridge or the entire state.

 

as many drive throughs as i can find i want to get to work.

I've been driving around for days trying to find all the locations i can.

 

and there's a gas station in northern Los Santos I would like to get working..

(i'm using a fuel mod, it burned way too much fuel, and cost too much, so i adjusted the ratios.)

 

I'm also using a passenger mod,

when i get in a taxi, it still tells me about taxi missions... but when i try it as a passenger, it says i need an empty cab...

..this I'm cool with, it shows me there are two conditions being checked preventing this from happening.

what i WANT to do, is include another line in that to scan for the player being in any seat but the driver's.

IF TRUE, bring up a menu of places to go, select one, and be driven there (or maybe even have the option of teleporting to "skip the trip" for those in a hurry.)

If you were testing a mod, you could get to anywhere real quick with this option.

good for retrying missions.. kinda like the "mission start taxi" from vice city.

...run up to a cab, jump in, tell the driver to stop at the Burger Shot in Vinewood (Drive Thru), and then Madd Dogg's mansion, you hop out at the road...

Or get driven to the Four Dragon's from the Johnson House.

 

I need to see this "driver" mod that takes you around town, to see how this was done.

can't seem to locate it yet.. i'll find it sooner or later.

 

someone mentioned wanting to wash cars at the car wash too, good to see i'm not alone.

 

another thing, the pay and spray in GTA3 cost $1000, now it's a measly $100..

I would like to see if we could make the pay and spray charge you according to the damage to the vehicle.

 

Respray (no dmg) $100

Respray with less than 25% dmg, $250

Respray with less than 50% dmg, $500

Respray with less than 75% dmg, $750

Respray with more than 75% dmg, $1000

External scripts don't get their variables saved and they're not launched on load. Goes back to what I was saying about the difference between outdoors and indoors.

As long as you kept the variables in the same class, you can do that without having to start over.

You don't need to be a passenger for that last bit. The drive to command addresses the car and will drive automatically, even with you in the passenger's seat.

Doable. Though I think you would have to make the garage cube a "normal" one and then code-control the entire process.

man thats cool. but wasnt there a mod recently where sum1 made it n it was called the driver mod where it does the same thing your mod does? basically in the driver mod you get your fone out ingame n it then has a car turning up n has a driver that drivers you around, n it had options like making your driver drive fast or drive crazy smile.gif you could even make your driver wait while you step outside the car to take care of business or dismiss him from his car sooo he can just walk off n give the car to you to use.

 

the mod i hear wasnt limited to cars as you can also call for a helicopta lift as well n it can take you up anywhere n you could even stand outside of the copta n use any of your weapons to shoot off from it with weapons like sniper, rocket launcher, n so on.

 

i wanted to ask you sumthing tho. the mod you created to have sum1 picking you up n taking you around n all that, did you use the code where in one of the dating bits you have with michelle in san fiero she gets to sit in the drivers seat while you sit in the passenga side n fiddle with the radio stations while she goes crazy n drives your car around?

 

maybe for an improvement for your mod you could add a code where you can use your fone ingame n then call up michelle to come pick you up n she turns up with her monstar truck n drives you around a bit. even betta, she actually picks u up n takes you out on a date n drives you around to resturants n whatnot in her car instead of you having to drive back n 4th to visit her n taking her out in your car instead.

 

smile.gif that would be handy to have, as youre 2 buggered to drive that far to see sum gal whereas you can have her meet up n pick you up n drive you around instead.

 

cool huh? how about that?

Update to everyone wondering about my drive-thru mod, Currently got the 1st island done with all the drive thru's aviable, I just got the PC version so I now test running more stuff at once becuase with an xbox there is only so much you can do with only 64mb of RAM now that I can use my 512mb of ram I will probably add some more if's so it work bug out as much, even though it is very rare to bug out.

been playing with adding pickups...

spawned a cluckin big meal...

(spinning icon of the meal)

it dissappeared when i grabbed it, but no effect occurred.

I was thinking of adding meal icons outside of many of the resaraunts around town that are not open, and add a type 3 (one pick-up only) meal icon that heals you...

wondering if there were a way of creating a new object, health, but with the icon of a meal ?

this way, over time.. you will have less of them around town, as you could only visit them once each...

 

 

was playing around with the towtruck, seeing how far you could go on a tank of gas, how hard is it to tow a car from los santos to las venturas and whotnot.

I found another tow truck... and hooked it up to my other tow truck.. while it was towing a car already..

a "double tow"..

was interesting,, but now i wonder... how many tow trucks CAN you hook up to eachother ?

 

as i was placing icons so that you could pick up a camera at any photo joint...

flowers at all the flower shops..

Paint at all the hardware spots and some other stores and sign companies.

more stars/bribe points...mostly requiring stunt to get... like parachuting off THE tower.. gliding through the trees in the park...etc..

 

and I found a Pay and Spray that was not used/activated in Las Venturas..

What is the ObjectName of the Wrench you pick up in the demolition derby mission.. or which mission is it so i can look...

i plan to place that icon at that pay n spray, and a garage somewhere else too.

 

Something I've started to miss...

RAMPAGES !...

 

Main thing I'm seeking is the Wrench Icon for Repair

and maybe the food icon thing

 

I'm learning slowly, but i'm learning...

You should use a loop to see if the pickup has been picked up yet, and if so do something, such as chagne the players health.
