The icons to me look the same but when you highlight them

they do look bigger than before.

You aren't the only one: a lot of people have noticed a speed increase with games etc, it's possible that Sony upped the clock to 266MHz or more.

Although I did personally notice that the PSP reads my memory stick slower than before.

I updated to 3.01 and for some reason I can't play Lumines. I put the UMD in and it says "The disc could not be read.". I suspect it being a firmware issue because I got the game a few days ago when I was on 2.81 and it worked perfectly. What the hell?

 

EDIT- Ah, I just tried playing 3 other games and they couldn't be read either. So I rebooted the PSP and everything works fine now. The problem must have something to do with me downloaded 5 or so demos and playing them last night. Weird.

You should've got a 32 megabyte memory stick duo card that came with the PSP.

Ok, well I’m assuming that is already inside the PSP as there was nothing additional in the pack (apart from the usual PSP accessories).

It should be in the PSP mate, there's a little flap thingy on the side of the PSP, push it in and open it and there should be a little black memory stick in there.

 

But really, if you've got a PSP then a 2GB memory stick is a must have, 'specially for saving films on there and watching them on the move.

Just opened it up and the slot is empty. The only thing that concerns me right now is will I be able to play VCS (once the PSP has charged) even though there is no memory card in there?

 

Can anyone recommend some good memory cards? (cheap too).

The memory card didnt come in the slot with me, it was right at the bottom of the box under all the sh*t in a little plastic cover thing.

For me a memory stick didn't come in the box either if I remember rightly, but since I opened up the box and everything and took a peekie of it in a restaurant I assumed I'd accidentally lost it there.

 

If you've lost it then you'll need one to save the game mate. If you're in a hurry go somewhere like GAME in the morning, if not have a look online, a little 32MB one shouldn't be too expensive, but if I were you I'd invest straight away in a large capacity one.

Yes after a short while i bought a 2 Gig memory card for only £40 Ebay FTW, no i have a spare 32 meg one hanging around

Well I checked the box, no where to be seen. I also read the contents part on the back of the box, it lists -

 

• System x1

• AC Adaptor x1

• Battery Pack x1

• UMD Software x 1 set

• Printed Materials x 1 set

 

So no memory card included, I'll just have to play and roam VCS tonight. Thanks for the help guys. How much will a basic memory card set me back?

32 meg cards were usally around 30 quid but you best chances of a bargain now is ebay, some going cheap even the big guns.

It would do, VCS saves are only about 760kb, and with that memory stick you could save some music, videos etc. along with your save.

If he got the base package then he doesn't get the 32mb stick. The 32mb stick only came with the value packs. Sony actually quit making the value packs, But they do have the new value pack with a game, movie, and a 1gb memory card.

Also known as the Giga Pack, I believe. But yeah, if you wanna use your PSP to the max get at least 1Gb to get some music or videos on.

found I've been using my psp as a portable media hub more than a handheld game console~

 

battery lasts longer too (well, naturally since stuff are read from the stick than the UMD)
