Haha.

I love Toe Jam and Earl. Haven't played it in ages though.

@tehhunter- I hope they do make an N64 emulator, although I heard it would be too hard because there is too many buttons on the N64 or something like that.

make sure you put them into the psp/music folder.

sometimes when dragging and dropping it will sometimes accidentally put them in the folder above or below.

if you double check that theyre in that folder and you can see the space has been used on your stick it should work.

Just one more paycheck, and I can buy my own PSP and a copy of GTA:LCS rahkstar2.gif (after it comes out of course)

I have a question though. I understand that PSP can connect to wireless connections and browse the internet (2.0+ i believe), but what about my school network "ETSU." It requires a log-in password and username to access the network (I am a student so I have username and password). I spoke with a PSP owner and he said that the PSP browser does not support the little pop up window that asks for the username and password, so there is no way to get on the network. Is there a way around this? I mean, I know it is possible to get on unprotected wireless networks or whatever, but I want to get on ETSU.

There is a way with the web browser, at least, I think. If you are thinking of an intranet website that has the standard 'pop up' asking for username and password, try this:

http://yourname:[email protected]

Thats the URL way of entering users/passes.

Thank you for quickly replying. I am really bad with internet technology terms. (I am Computer Science major in the CS concentration instead of IT or IS.) At my school, we have lab computers. We log into the lab computers with a 'Z' account, and we have stuff on our own z-account desktop that shows up wherever we log in. People with laptops, if they have a network adapter card, can log into it wirelessly after typing a password thing. The z-account desktop appears on their laptop screen too I think. The school network is also used to browse the internet at hi-speeds. View internet pages is what I want to do with the PSP. I hope your link works. I will try it when I get a PSP (Friday I hope)

*Edit: I tried the link (yes I changed the appropriate fields) from this PC's browser, and it waited a long time and then said something about a timeout error. "The operation timed out when connecting to etsu.edu" is what it said. (I tried etsu.com accidentally at first and it redirected me to some kind of Energy company website or something)

Guys. Great news! Well not really for homebrewed users. The new update is out, 2.50.

Also ill be browsing the net soon on my psp, as im getting DSL.

Features from PspUpdates.com

FEATURES IN 2.50 INCLUDE:

- [LocationFree Player] has been added as a feature under [Network]. (Click Link for more info)

- [Auto-Select] and [unicode (UTF-8)] have been added as options to [Encoding] under [View] in the [internet Browser] menu bar.

- [Text Size] and [Display Mode] settings of the [internet Browser] can now be saved.

- The input history of online forms accessed through the [internet Browser] can now be saved.

- Copyright-protected video can now be played under [Video]. (This applies to video data saved on Memory Stick.)

- [set via Internet] has been added as an option to [Date & Time Settings] under [settings]

- WPA-PSK (AES) has been added as a security method under [Network Settings].

- Korean input mode has been added to the on-screen keyboard.

LocationFree Player is great news! This might mean interaction between the psp and ps3! Also if your have a Location Free Player (I dont dont know who does because there $350 Bucks.) You can watch television on your psp.

already? tounge2.gif

ill bet that has nothing to do with the downgrader that was just released. sarcasm.gif

so my question is, do they have enough updates on hand to keep giving us an incentive to update after each of their versions gets cracked?

its like sony vs. teh hackers = psp war.

funny sh*t.

i wont be upgrading myself though.

im guessing there will be a new version of wabs version changer to add this version, at least i hope so.

you guys are idiots. The only cool new thing for the PSP is the Location Free player, and u know what sucks about it? It costs 150 bucks to get the base unit!~!!!!

Which means, you can update and destroy and chance you had of homebrew on 2.0 (which was actually getting somewhere too) and now get stuck with an extra feature that you will probably never throw the 150 bucks down for.

It needs a base unit which is why its so expensive. Its just another ploy to make money from sony.

Suckas!

Actually that's what 2.01 was for.

Sony has been working on 2.50 ever since 2.00 came out. They halted it's production for a bit and released 2.01 when they found out about the exploit, then went back to working on 2.50.

It would be cool to watch TV from anywhere on PSP, if I didn't have to pay $350 for a FL Base (it's the software that is $150, which is only good if you have a TV with the FL base built in....)

Digital Evil - Actually i think them adding some kind of new features with the video section about the copyright situation, It would have to have a hole in it somewere. So its just a matter of time untill they hack 2.5.

Plus, if i had a job, a good paying one at that. I would go ahead and pay the 400 to 500 bucks to get that. But since im not old enough for a job, i will never get this.

Has anyone seen the Tv tuner that one team brought out? You have to replace the whole Psp face plate to get the thing to work. There making you pay up to $125 bucks I think for the faceplate and the componet that connects to the back.

That's Teamxtender's PSP2TV, and its for outputting the PSP's A/V to a TV or any toher device. It also allows you to play PSP games using a Dual Shock 2 Controller. Much different than watching TV on PSP...

Sorry I was too lazy to change my sig from the PSP's browser. I fixed it now.

*Here at the campus we can set up wireless devices to log on to ETSU (that's my university) network. However, the device requires a "peep" (whatever t. f. that is) in order to type the user name and password to get the credentials. Since the PSP cannot do that, the only thing I know is to enter the WEP (that's its protection type) and I can't figure out how to get it. The only way I posted from my PSP earlier was that I found an unprotected network in the social studies building, but I can't find one anywhere else. I want to be on the ETSU network so bad with it.

So 2.50 is nothing really unless you want to pay a buttload of cash? No new features beside Location thing?

ahh, i didnt know about the 2.01,

havent ben paying close enough attention as of late.

i should go check the news after i leave here.

Heh, f*ck THAT. If I want to watch TV, I'll watch it in on the 36" TV I have in my goddamn room.

true that.

although it nice to have before bed and the ol lady wants to watch something else.

i find my psp has let me escape her grasp quite often because of its small size and mobility.

and i thank it for that.

If I missed it mentioned, I just did on the other thread, the firmware 2.50 is out now and it will upgrade all missing features if you have an earlier version. I think it personally kick @ss and I love the fact this $200 wonder does as much as it does, mainly as my used PSP came with the 512MB card instead of a value pack! I find it much more useful for video, photos and UMD saves. Along with the fact I bought a Sony digital cam a year ago.

Looking at Sonys' Memorystick.com site they setup, looks like the non MagicGate cards, or full size ones are listed as discontinued...can someone confirm the exact ones? It seems the smaller size will be more useful and common for one...and if you didn't notice, the 2GB card is rather new and expensive... I still must have one in the near future for portable videos

I'm after some video conversion software next in my PSP accessory hunt. Just got an extra battery today

Can you provide a link? It's a curious offering on the relatively new PSP, but recent facts about the video iPod make this an nice thing to consider. The memories can't compare for one, but vid. iPod allows a video out option that's pretty nice...at $300~$400 or so (HDD size of course)

So.. My PSP's web brower has been acting like crap since about a week after I upgraded. It's really slow, and I get a message telling me that there is not enough memory to continue and what not after a few minutes of surfing. This happened to anyone and anyone know how to fix it?

Finally got the cash to buy a psp and need your help on buying it, I'm not going to buy movies I'm going to convert them from my PC and put them on the memory card,so can I get a japan one and put a 1GB UK memory card in it.Will UK umds not work on it?? and whats the disadvantages of a Japanese one

So I have £151 and that has to cover shipping for a 1GB memory and a cheap psp can you guys try and find cheap stuff for me I have been looking just not found very cheap stuff

Summary

£151=

1GB memory and psp

+ shipping

So if you find any good deals send them my way colgate.gif

Thanks Adam biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

If you wanted Ceremic White, you'd have to entertain that decision as well and since I read there was some sort of problem, I opted for a tradional USA black/chrome. The thing I find confusing is I bought a Japanese LaserDisc player off eBay, the only thing required was a stepdown to 100volt AC converter. These are hard to find in the USA still, but the software and hardware are still NTSC analog in Japan. I know there TV in VCRs are quite different as well, from back in the day, but why is it not NTSC over there, even in digital form? ...or am I missing something else?

Is there any money involved in getting that ported?? I have that and the sequal sitting here for my Genesis but also haven't hooked that up in literally years!! I also wanted to point out Sony has an upgrade for their own video conversion software (Image Converter 2Plus, as well as the one I spotted at Circuit City today, Action Replay's Media kit for around $40. It comes with a card as I recall. It took some thought on that vs. a game, and the game won...at least today haha
