tiger
I am having a problem in the game when walking around. if I walk down a ramp or steep incline, my character gets thrown off into the water or on the ground causing a lot of damage. I CANNOT WALK DOWN AN INCLINE WITHOUT GETTING KILLED!! I cannot controll it and the game will just randomly toss my character into the ground or water. What is wrong??? Jmac
Did your mother never teach you not to run down stairs and steep inclines ? You have to walk down them.
Rosco
I have two computers: 1) Sony Vaio PCV-RX651 Windows XP Home 20 and 60 gig HD (Partitioned) 256mb DDR SDram Nvidia TnT2 32mb Graphics Penitium 1.7 GHz 2) IMB Aptiva E Series 590 (updated/modified) Windows Xp Pro 20 gig HD 256mb SDram PC100 Nvidia Leadtek Geforce256 32mb Athlon 550MHz I went to www.nvidia.com and got newest drivers for both graphics cards (windows xp). I updated DirectX to 8.1, and used windows xp fix to update DirectX even more- ddraw.dll and d3d8.dll to 5.01.2600.0029. I am running the game on both computers at 800x600x16. On both computers, it auto-shuts down during opening car getaway (black man says something like- "you better drive, brother) a little bit after getting off the bridge. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Schaft
Good afternoon y'all, where's this gta3 1.1 patch that I see them talking about on the main screen of this place? I've looked around and the only place I can find it at is gta-3.com, which is in german, and well i'm a bit rusty with german, so I was hopeing someone could point me in some direction, cause I don't like the whole "sluggish" feel of the game, everyone moves slow and how i can't just like, turn right at all. Um, yeah. Thanks

Day_Before_Dawn
Hey I have a: P3 900 32mb GeForce2 mx 384 MB ram 40 gB hard drive. I bought GTA3 a while ago now and thought t was the best game i had ever played. But it didnt run well at all. I set all the settings right down to the minimum settings even though i have a fairly good PC. to try combat this i downloaded the new drivers for my graphics card but it still didnt run well. I ended up having to take it back in the end because it was basically unplayable at the speed it was running and i wasnt happy with the bad graphics i was being forced to use. If i bought the game again is there anything i can do to stop it from crawling along and get to run fast with good graphics. Thanks Dave

spycs
Processor: Pentium 3 1GHz Memory: 256MB RAM Graphics: Prophet 4500 64MB Sound: Intergrated on motherboard Motherboard: Via 659A Monitor: 17in' Compaq V700 CD-ROM: Freecom 40x Windows 98 OS My game seems to run fine, decent framerates and nothing wrong with it, but every time i seem to run it, it just crashes unexpectedly and at random points. It usually does this somwhere in the first five miuntes of playing. When i did 1st install and play, boy was it f****** laggy. The one thing that did certainly improve it was turning trials off, and this had an immediate impact allowing very smooth graphics. It maybe my Kyro2 that causes this to crash, but i really doubt this. Many other people's system still crashes even with the latest graphics card installed. I think i may have narrowed what the assing hell is wrong with it, and i think it is that my sound thingy doesnt support hardware buffering. It sez to change it to software buffering in DXdiag but i cant find no fricking option for that. It could be this but then why does it crash 5 miutes into the game and not straight away when sound come on or summat like that. I'd really wish take2 will get there ass in gear as this is probably one of the worst technical conversion from console to pc format i'd ever had. The only thing i like about consoles is that a game either works or doesnt. Simple. No messin around.
spycs
I meant trails not trials........i think, is that right? oh summat like that. Who gives a toss. (As you can see im rather pissed off)

DaveC
I got GTA to work after renaming the two GTATitles mpgs in the video folder (to .mbg in my case) and everything appears to work fine. Before it would crash out to the desktop after the 'Rockstar' loader movie. Now it gets past this and the screen goes black where I guess the GTATitles.mpg is supposed to run. One click with the mouse and I'm in. Prior to finding this fix (It is detailed somewhere else on this forum) I'd spent minimum of 4 hours trying every permutation of options as listed on these forums and elsewhere for my Win2K machine. I e-mailed Talonsoft tech support, who came back after 2 days to tell me to upgrade with the 1.1 patch. I had already done this and said as much in my message. ReapeRalex
Grr I'm suffering bad lag aswell. I have a 1.3 GHz Athlon, GeForce 3, 256MB SDRam and a SBLive Player 5.1. GTA3 worked fine under win98SE, 1200 by 1024 res, all the option and 30 megs worth of mp3's, but ever sice I installed win 2K I have had problems. For the large part it plays quite well but sometimes it goes into "Treacle Mode", it isn't choppy, just slow motion. And GTA crashes frequently. I have installed ver 1.1 and this made things worse. I have the latest drivers and other games work fine. Any ideas?

I also have grainy graphics, and buildings don't come into focus until i'm about a foot away). I am 'stuck' in staunton island. My game freezes when i see the blue loading screen... minutes pass and it press ctrl+alt+del, and i discover it's frozen. I don't know what to do! And why cant i have my PC poping out the images like the ones on the box?ughh!
Zoom7000
I am running GTA3 on my AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and I am getting the same nVidia problems! (Orange Menu Buttons, Black Box around mouse pointer) (I have a GeForce 3 Ti 200) I have tried to install the patch that was in the readme file, but I am getting the following error: "Q306676 Setup Error Setup has detected that the build version of the system install does not match the update you are applying to it. You can only install this update on Build 2600 to Build 2600" I know that I am running version 5.1.2505, can anyone help as to how I can get it to work? I have tried manually updating d3d8.dll, but that didn't solve anything. Help please! Zoom7000

Grand Theft World
Everytime i try to start the game a message appears that say: Grand Theft Auto 3 requires at least 12mb of available video memory. What do i do?
98766654321
i think it is your video card. it has to have at least a 12mb video card. you can find out by going: start> run> dxdiag it will be under display, it will say: approx. total memory, if it is greater than 12mb, then your videocard isnt the problem.
