Am I alone in being pissed off about all the old muscle cars "coming back"? The Charger is a f*cking Chrysler 300C with a different front clip, and it doesn't even have an available standard transmission. The new GTO is a f*cking Grand Prix with a V8. The only company that's done a decent resoration of an old muscle car is Ford with the redesigned mustang. I like how they put the solid rear axle in the back like the old muscle cars, and none of that IRS bullsh*t.

Don't get me wrong, these new cars are nice, but it pisses me off that they get the names of the old muscle cars. MEh, I'm just ranting.

if i was alive around that time, i would have a massive garage full of cars. one or two months rigworkers salary could buy any one of the cars sad.gif

there was just so much beauty around that time, the mustangs, challenger, charger, cuda, cougar, camaro, chevelle, 4-4-2, GSX, GTX, roadruner, superbird, daytona, duster, dart, nova, and those hot. rod. lincons.(the lincolns werent exactly "muscle cars" per say, but they had muscle, and they were cars), just no way to go wrong.

i still wanna get a 1968/69 lincoln continental with the big 460(7.5L) in it, mmmm, 365hp and 500 ft/lbs of torque, yummy

my daddy said "son you're gonna drive me to drinkin if you dont stop drivin that hot. rod. lincoln"

Don't forget the 1967 Mustang with the 2+2 option. Man if I could only go back in time... I'd buy a warehouse or garage, fill it with cars and time warp to current date.

or the Hurst 442, the mazda 3 has a similar tranny option where you can have it in automatic, or move the stick over, down and over and have a little ratchet shifter to shift. my mom rented one when she got in an accident with her van. the car was small but the tranny was dead sexeh.

i dont know why more cars have that. the selection between automatic, or clutchless manual. it would make driving a whole lot more fun. no more shifting when you are lazy, or trying to race your automatic at the track.

I would want to go back to like 1975 (with a few million dollars) when all the cars had been out for a few years at least. Then pay crazy for the time cash for a bunch of really rare cars. With a couple million dollars I could easily buy 100 cars.

1967 Dodge Coronet R/T? Both mine.

1970 Dodge Coronet R/T? Both mine.

1969 Chevrolet Corvette ZL-1 427? All three mine.

1971 Plymouth 'Cuda Hemi Covertible? All seven mine.

You get the picture. Basically I would invest near 2+ million and come back to today's time with my 100+ cars that would easily fetch me $500k a piece.

$2,000,000 turned into $50,000,000. Can't beat $48,000,000 profit.

Although if I could go back in time I would assassinate alot of people that invented things and invent them myself so when I came back to current time I could collect money for MY inventions.

personally, i think one of the most beautiful cars ever is a '69 coronet...preferably of the Super Bee variety. it's one of my dreams to have that car, maybe with a 440 6 pack. ifi were a lil richer, maybe i'd go for a 70 GSX in saturn yellow. thats a sexy car right thur inlove.gif and to round out my garage, i guess a 70 roadrunner would do the trick.

Muscle cars would not work in britain to be honest, they do like 2 miles to the gallon and petrol is almost £5 a gallon. sad.gif

depending on gearing, you'd be surprised how good the gas milage is. my friend's stock 396 chevelle get 15mpg pretty easily in normal conditions.

15mpg is complete sh*t though.

My Yaris does about 60mpg.

but your yaris could get raced, run-over, and crushed by a muscle car and not notice you were there biggrin.gif

muscle cars arent about the milage, nobody every said "i want a large, powerful car, but i want it to get good milage". the muscle car is about being able to mash your foot to the floor, and feel the raw power as that front end tries to leave the ground, and the car takes off.

...but for the most part, these cars aren't gonna be daily drivers to work and back...just a car to cruise with a couple times a week, so gas milage really shouldn't really be considered in buying a muscle car....and if you wanna make up for lost gas money, just go street race some ricers and put some money on it, it'll turn out to be an investment wink.gif

i just wanted to step in here...earlier in the topic i heard some New GTO bashing and that i can't stand...

I own a new GTO... 2005, Phantom Black Exterior/Red Leather Interior 6-Speed MT w/ Sports Apperance Package, Autocross Grill...

I'm telling u...n e one who said they did a bad job on the GTO has obviously never driven one or seen one with the Sports Apperance Package...

HOLY sh*t!...honestly this thing is f*ckin amazing...I dropped a Cold-Air intake in and put in an Exaust and thats it... can't compare is to a Mustang....Mustangs are sh*t...especially compared to this....i think the new Dodge Charger is a hell of a lot better than the Mustang too...

and n e one who thinks it doesnt look good (The GTO)... Welcome to the future....this is what a GTO would look like if it had been on the market and Evolved from where it was (Not Exactly but close)...

The new GTO is crap, the Charger is crap, the mustang will live forever. plain. and. simple.

and i am not the only one who thinks so. the sales figures reflect it. 1k GTOs selling per month, and stock piling up compared to 15-19k mustangs selling per month, and dealers having trouble keeping them on the lots, it seems to be a common opinion.

as for the charger, dodge seems to have slipped up and added two extra doors turning it from a charger, to a 4-door family sedan

so, to recap, Mustang > *

I don't think that GTO (Monaro etc... we won't fight again, no?) is not a bad car. But there are better ones. The car is well build, the australians did a good job on it. Plus the engine seems funky.

Signature soon.
