MindCorrupt
Â Rabi, P stands for provisional, you keep em on for about 2 years after getting your licence. IMO its just a way for the cops to target you over here, because quite literally I get pulled over atleast 3 times as much with them on. C Â ops over here like to flaunt the fact that they can practically pull your car off the road for no real reason (yellow sticker), for example i was told to come to a party the other week where i parked down the road at; me and my mates walked to the party to find the house getting trashed (the house was broken into and the party was started there). We didnt even bother going in and went back to my car and drove off and got pulled over 50 meters down the road where i was blackmailed to give up who told me about the party or i'd have my car pulled off the road even though the car is completely roadworthy. Bullsh*t eh? Â ---- Â Anyways; on the car front. Gonna have to grab a new exhaust system soon as theres fumes getting worst and worst in the car when driving. Makes you all sleepy like when driving. Was looking at getting a Rotaflo 3 or 2.5 inch with droopy tip. Would look mint.

For example here in Victoria, a Provisional driver can not tow a trailer. They only get five demerit points per year (the average driving offence comes with a fine and a loss of normally 2 -3 points) where a fully liscenced driver gets 12 per three years. The other thing is the power of the vehicle you drive must not exceed a ratio of 125kW per tonne of the vehicles unladen mass and it can not have an engine who's capacity exceeds a ratio of 3.5 litres per tonne of the vehicles unladen mass. It is a fineable offence not to display "P" plates on your vehicle. Â In NSW however they use a completely different system. For the first year you have your "P's" you must display a green "P plate" and are restricted to driving at speeds of under 90kph and you cannot tow a trailer. During you're second and third years of being a provisional driver you must display a red "P plate" and you are restriced to driving at speeds of under 100kph - although the fastest you can drive on Australian roads is only 110kph anyway. Instead of a power to weight restriction like that of Victoria, NSW has a list of several thousand cars which P platers are banned from driving, this includes anything with a V8, turbocharger or supercharger. The car basicly can not be modified legally either. The list of cars is supposedly based on a survey conducted to see what the most common makes and models of car P platers are killed in, in road accidents. However this system is flawed as cars such as the Daihatsu Copen which only has 60 odd kW is banned due to being turbo-charged. Also slow and safe cars such as Turbo deisel Mercedes and Volvo's are banned for being turbocharged, where as you can get away with driving cars such as an Ariel Atom or Lotus Exige. Madness, no? MindCorrupt
Richard is spot on. Although some of the laws vary from state to state. Western Australia isnt as extreme as the eastern states laws on younger drivers. Over here the time that you have to wear the P plate is alot shorter and there is only one of them. About a year is shaved off if you got a Moped licence prior to getting your standard licence (you can get a moped licence at 16 i beleive). Â Not only that there are no restrictions on what cars you can and cant drive, ive heard of the bullsh*t the younger fellas have to go through just because they own a decent car. Basically my only problem if i went out and bought a V8 Supercharged beast would be the insurance. I can barely insure my car as it is... Jay
On the flipside, South Australia has the slackest road rules imaginable relating to P-platers.  - You are not required to learn in a manual vehicle to be able to legally drive a manual  - There are NO restrictions on what cars P-platers can drive  - Until recently, the P's only had to be worn for 2 years and that's it, now you have to wear them for one year, take a driver awareness course, then you dont have to display them for the final year.  - 100km/h limit  - Cops are slack bastards  -  - Granted, these days you can lose your license on the spot for drink driving. Mega
There absolutely no restrictions in France while you got your driving license, on the vehicle i mean. Otherwise we have: - a red "A" in the back for "Apprenti" (learning) that you must wear for 3 years on your rear windnow after getting your license (3 years if you didn't start to drive at 16) (and a small one in the front, soon) - a provisory driving license with only 6 points on it (you get 12 after those 2/3 years) - 80 instead of 90kph and 110 instead of 130. Â as i said no restrictions on the vehicle, but usually it's the same sh*t as in UK. The insurance cost you the triple of the car price if you want something good. Signature soon. Touge
Victoria is the worst place in the universe for being strict with road rules etc. you aren't even allowed little things on your dashboard like dancing Elvis dolls or whatever. Though I think that state has the worlds second lowest road toll per capita or something? behind Norway. Â NZ is alright at the moment. You get your learner license where you must have a person with you who has had their full license for two years or more. Then you get your restricted where you aren't allowed passengers or to drive between the hours of 10pm-7am (when there's less traffic ) but people just do what they want anyway (Me included). On your restricted though, If you get your restricted in an auto, you're only allowed to drive automatics. Doesn't apply to full license though. Â There are no restrictions (yet) on what sorta car you can drive. Hence why you get 16-year olds in Evo's or driving around in Daddy's E55. This chick at my school crashed Her dads M3 (E36) convertible after taking it out without His permission. About a year later she was driving a 30+ grand Toyota Altezza (Same as Lexus Is 200 but better) as Her first car.

Jack_Knife
Up in Queensland, we have even slacker rules. Up until last year you didn't even need to show you were a learner (showing L plates). You still don't have to show P plates. No speed limits on learner or provisional licenses (I could go 110km/h on the highway the first time ever driving a car on the road, perfectly legally. I did this, too). Only restriction I'm aware of is the alcohol limit (0 BAC for P platers). Â Queensland rocks. Also, god damn nice car Ed, if I haven't already posted in this thread. "You can play faster than Al Di Meola and do it with only one pinky, but if you're not listening to what is going on around you, you might as well just shut up" Â isn't your croth suppose to be erecting when you have an orgasm? Jay
If some of you guys from the states saw how much people here pay for American pickups you would puke. I wouldnt doubt that for a second. Australians have more sense, mostly because of the further distances we have to drive and the more expensive (but better quality) fuel. Â I dont see why. You pay sh*tloads of a massive hunk of metal with wheels, pour hundreds of dollars of fuel into it for what, inconvenience when parking, polluted atmosphere and also the possibility of killing your own children just reversing the f*cking things. Â Seriously. Tell me why? Making a statement? Safety? Sure, you'll be safe coming out of a 6 car pileup at an intersection because of your insane braking distance, but what about the people that you killed when their cars crumpled under your massive abomination? Morph
Nice car. I just purchased an 83 GS. It needs some work, also. fuckindumass
@Morph Adapters are dangerous. Can't you get 'blanks' and have them drilled? Â #mr_ed Looks like you did well on your crash repair. Where I live is humid and they salt the roads, so removing the factory finish to bare metal results in rustout shortly after Sorry you lost your license, but from your description of your crash and the circumstances under which you lost your license seem to indicate some extremely dangerous behaviour. Hope you have learned something by all this. Hope you can get back in that rx soon, and find some proper places to get your kicks......
Morph
How do you mean there buddy? Blanks? The only other thing that I can think of for some diff. wheel is to swap out the axles of a newer RX7, GSL-SE I think, with the 5x4.5 Bolt pattern. Â As far as the adapters go, they'd be as skinny as possible, no Mexi-Wheels here. And yeah, I've heard they're dangerous, but I wont be jumping the car or anything. Just normal driving. Best possible route would be to buy a set of wheels similar to Joe's here, the Waffle-type (best I can describe them). Â Oh, and just for S&Gs:
MindCorrupt
 Ah morph, great looking car. About the rims, welcome to the nightmare. By blanks he means getting new rims custom drilled to suit your car, it costs a little though. There is pretty much no market for them so no one really makes aftermarket rims for 1st generation Rx7's, so any newish rims that you see with the right measurements for you has most definitely been custom drilled. What I'd recommend is locating your local rotary workshop (tell me your rough whereabouts and im sure I could get something within reach) and giving them a call and ask them if theyve got any rims with the right offset.  Or you could try a few local tyre places and asking there (thats how I located mine). They were a little aged when I got my hands on them but the same tyre and rim place did re-conditioning. All up with tyres; the whole package cost me about $100au a rim.  The best resource for your needs (obviously my knowledge is limited, but i try) is www.rx7club.com. Theyre very helpful and will no doubt help you out.  Tell us how you go mate  @FD - Depends how you define extremely dangerous behaviour mate, I learnt my lesson the first time but of coarse my definition of careless driving is a little different from the police officers  On the topic of the coart case, im getting my lawyer to call the prosecution tomorrow, there could be a chance i can get off with just a fine through irregularities in the police officers statement. See how it goes, i'll keep you all posted .
MindCorrupt
Car was nearly taken out yesterday. Went down to mullaloo (a nice beach place in perth) for a few drinks with some friends at the pub they have there. I get to the parking lot (its accross the road from the pub) and theres only 2 spots...one is closer but the other had shade so i parked there. I go in for a drink for a while and then we go to pick up some more friends in another mates car. We come back to see the car parked in the spot i was gonna park in (a nice Nissan 300zx) had been slam dunked by a ricey civic. Â The pissed ricer gave it too much coming out of the little alley ramp next to the pub and obviously loss control crossed the other side of the road and hit the curb...got airborne and landed on this poor chicks bonnet, totalling the car. I was f*cken jaw dropped. If i parked there...my car would of got obliterated. Â Civic had nice rims, but had those sh*tty NOS car seat covers etc. Driver had been drinking. What a fool. Â Moral of the story...dont park near where ricers go to get pissed and the most obvious one: we all know...front wheel drived cars do sh*t burnouts...dont try. Â ed.
