MindCorrupt
Wow ed, as I've said that's some sext craftsmanship. Your car is going to look really nice and it'll be worth a lot more too! Not that you'll sell it though I doubt, not after all this work! Are you having all the wheels and chrome parts etc polish/refurbished to suit the shiny paint new?  Keep us updated  I have no idea what im gonna do after the paint hehe, and i have really no idea how the rims are gonna go with it, theyre currently rock racing with gold insert. The problem is with early Rx7's is that finding rims for em is a bitch. They have a different stud pattern and generally require custom rims.  Another note is on the engine bay. Its gonna be left until I rebuild the engine next because pulling it right now is too time consuming and the panel beater really doesnt want to do it. And i really couldnt pay him enough to do it. So were gonna wing it on that.  But the step after the paint is the interior. Should be interesting how it pans out
Cran.
Â I think its f*cking ugly. I finally feel mutual with someone. Â Thank You. Can I join in? I don't like the car much either.. apart from the vauge resemblence to a 924/944 Yes, I know that's a 924 front. But errr... MindCorrupt
Â Hehe, cheers fellas. Â As I said before its either a car that you love or hate. I was just posting it to show the process of rebuilding the car. But its your opinions and i respect that. Â Ontopic a little more; Im pretty sure the exterior of the car will be finished by next week, im trying to line up someone to do the interior atm. Still havent got a price but ive got in touch with a few fellas whose had their interior completely redone...should be interesting how it goes
MindCorrupt
Â Update: Last coat is on, just needs to be buffed up. The pictures do it no justice, the job is mint in person, just a few blemishes that need to be buffed out. Went to see a trim guy about the interior, found out the dash is gonna be a problem. Have to go see him again next week when the car is out of the panel beaters. Â Â Â Â

MindCorrupt
Â Cheers fellas.. Â lol mac, I wouldnt mind a kit, but the only decent one thats out for the first gens is the daytona kit which lys's sister has, and theyre a bastard to find, the rest are just dodge jobs from other car kits. So me thinks it looks sexy enough with the stock body exterior.
MindCorrupt
Â Updated, alot of things back on. Colour looks a little funny indoors (its alot different in the sunlight). Hood still needs to go on and the bumper irons need to be repaired. Along with the badges. Should be ready to go after work on monday. Looking at getting the taillights darkened so its not such a clash in colour. The plates are temporary too. Â Â Â Â Â Â Still alot to come. Dup
Looking great! Gwt those wheels polished up and they'll compliment the car very well. Â Id get the sprayer to tint the rear lights. Don't get any of that stuff you spray on the inside. Its messy and looks tacky. Get the sprayer to mix a bit of black paint and clear laquer, that'll looks great. then you can choose how dark you want them too. Â Is that your mother and sister in the background. Sister looks nice from what we get to see
MindCorrupt
Â He wouldnt do it due to legality reasons. Its actually illegal to darken your headlights in my state (although its rarely enforced as stock VL commodores comes stock with dark taillights). Im getting it contact with a guy whose done it (looks mint as with polished screws around it). Â ps - Haha, dude. Thats my mum. The guy there is the panel beater and his wife. (who are also my mates parents). Â Â
Dup
It might be illegal to tint the headlight lens, but theres nothing stopping you tinting the plastic inside to make it look darker/tinted. Just paint the inner plastic (bit thats not reflective for the light, the bit ourside it) and it should look darker. You might not be able to do it with your car due to it not having any part inside the light besides the reflective parts. Â It's illegal in the UK. They just have to emit a certain level of light to be legal. Same with tinted windows.
MindCorrupt
The beast is home! wooo! Â Â Dup: ah, true. I dunno, it doesnt look that bad, was just weird in the dull light of the panel beaters. But in saying that im still gonna pick up some spare taillights and experiment with them to see how it looks. AzO
Sex on wheels! Nothing more to add.. Glad you finally finished..
Dup
Fantastic. Let me throw these in for reference: Â Â Â Â In the UK, they would easily take that damage as a write-off, especially for a pre-90's car. Â Im really glad you got this fixed, looks fantastic. Excellent craftsmanship and great colour. The wheels really compliment it. Personally I'd lower it 40/50 - 60 mm to finish it off but I have a fettish for cars with a low ride hight, but nothing rediculous. Â My sentiments exactly by playing with a spare set of lights. I did it with my Punto but It didn't go so well. In the UK we still have to have a part that reflects. I tried to mask off a few strips of the reflector part in the light but it wasn't good enough and I didn't want to stick random refelctors on the back of my car like this: Â Â You could do strips of tint on the rear light. From a little distance you wouldn't notice the strips of you did them fine enough.
MindCorrupt
Â Argh, so many choices. I'll make the decision when i actually bother to drive all the way to Rotomotion to pick up some headlights (they have about 15 first gen Rx7s out the back where they just pull parts off). I've been told the spray looks good if done properly (by a couple of fellas who own VL commies). Â I'm also just suprised how well the rims went with the paint. I'm pretty sure the company that made my rims doesnt exist anymore. Says Hero Co. on it along with Rock Racing. I couldnt find any reference to them anywhere. Strange. Â Cheers for the comments btw fellas.
123abc
Â Damn......i love RX7's. Looks like a very hot ride, and to agree with Dup, I'd lower it a bit. ::rawr::

MindCorrupt
 lolthreadbump. Might put up some before pics of the interior. Still trying to sort things out with it and get some finance together. Anyways. Taste, i have no idea. The speedo only goes to 220km. I've personally gone up to 180 before I slowed for some cars ahead. Its a scary car to drive fast in because youre so low to the ground and you can really hear the car cutting the air. Its more fun sideways than fast i suppose.  long time no see star! was wondering where you went

MindCorrupt
Came back to my car in a shopping centre lot to find a rather large black mark down the side next to the rear right wheel arch. Most of it came off except the bit next to the wheel well itself. It seems to be off a black plastic bumper. I dunno what to try to use to get it off. Â This sh*ts me to death as keeping the paint as good as possible is f*cken hard. I usually park in between 2 empty bays when i go out . Picked up some touch up paint for a few blemishes the other day though. Â On a plus note - were getting closer to the trim interior. So much going on atm, tis hard, but its getting closer. Hopefully going for a new sound system after chrissy, bit of a dilemma whether to pull out the stock unit or mount it in the glove box. I'll post a pic to show what i mean because the stock radio + tape deck take up twice 2 usual unit spaces. Â @cran, perth, WA Â @Touge, was factory 12a. Has had an engine swap with a 13b. Would be too much of a hassle to get it insured if it was turbo'd. Would love a bridgeport though Edited November 20, 2005 by mr_ed
CraftLandia
Try eucalyptus oil for getting that mark off. The stuff works well on road tar, bits of rubber from burnouts, glue, etc so it may work.
Technical Difficulty
Ouch. I've always, ALWAYS wanted to take a murdered car, work on it and build it back up. You're living my dream, kinda.
