MindCorrupt
Gday, just thought I might share my experiences in fixing my Rx7 after a rather serious crash last month. I think it may interest a few of you to see what happened to the old beast through the process, it might take a bit but i'll keep it updated even if no one does post in here hehe.)  Story starts a late night dropping off a few pissed mates home (being a good friend hehe) when its pissing down outside, basically what happened is around the corner from my mates; i give it a bit too much gas and the back end drifts out and i try to correct but oversteered and gained traction too quick and go straight into a parked Land Rover. I felt pretty sh*t after, it was like one of those times when you think it might be a really bad dream, except youre not waking up. But anyways...  The damage was as follows:   (ignore the turbo sign...*cough*)  Damaged parts:  -Front bumper -hood -front right fender -front right headlight -right hand door (driver) -Back right fender -back right light  Luckily there was no damage to the engine or to the chassis, otherwise i would of never of bothered to fix the car. We would of just taken the steps to get rid of it. But we made the decision on that to keep the car and get it fixed properly. Which includes all fixed body, respray and interior work. Engine will follow once the cash flow gets flowing again lol.  Step 1.  Luckily my mates old man is a panel beater, a good one at that. Hes helped me out a few times with problems with the old girl, so we decided to go through him. We got hold of a shell for about $200 and got a few parts off that and got it to him with the car.  Step 2.  The work begins, he started by pulling the damaged and unusable parts off the car and stripped it down. Then the hard sh*t began, there was crap loads of bog in the car from previous crap done to it. It practically had a whole bucket full when they scraped it all out and the paint had to come off to allow for the respray when it comes along. Ended looking like this after all that.  Basic Overview. Front right, the plastic thing over the wheel needs replacing too. Front, i need a front right light. Apparently theyre a bitch to find. Shot from the good side, looks nicer in silver hehe. Alot removed, between the back window and the door is where alot of bog was used. Back left fender, had to be cut and the one from the shell is going in. Mmm, just taken from the shell and the paint removed.  ---  Things still need to be done:  -Respray -Alot of sanding down -Interior work -Fabric choosing -Colour choosing -New seals around windows and doors -New lights  And quite a bit more. Cheers for reading. Any suggestions on what colour it should be painted, im currently looking at 350z bronzey orange. Should look nice. Will update regularly.  Cheers, Ed.

MindCorrupt
Â Nah, all just body work. Â Pavlov, the car has been in the family for about 16 years. We'd never get rid of it. Plus I enjoy driving it, its a real fun car to drive (well, most of the time). You can really feel the gears and youre quite low to the ground. Fun experience. MindCorrupt
Â Belongs to the panel beater. I saw it first when i was in year 7 at school at my mates house, he had just put in the suspension. Now, 6 years later hes just finishing up on it. Its a farken beast, so much custom fabrication done on it. Â Went to see the car today, but he shut up shop early. Will check it out on monday. Dup
Ed, That is some f*cking awesome craftsman ship going on there. Â You won't believe how good it is. Especially from the state it was in. Although it's been bent once and been repaired, it will never be as strong so be careful! Â What colour you having it?
MindCorrupt
Bloody oath man, the guy is a master when it comes to smash ups. Hes practically bought relatively new smashed up cars at auction and done them up to mint for his family. Im just bloody stoked with how it looks now. Â Its getting done in nissan 350z orange/bronze. This way we can pretty well say its the same colour and we wont have to take it through the pits. (because a whole new colour means it pretty much has to go through just because of that). MindCorrupt
Â Cheers for the comments fellas. Â I've been taking a look at the progress and the rims for the car, i was thinking of asking to get the centers of the current rims to be painted to the same colour as the car. It might look a bit funky to have the centers of the rims gold and the body orange/bronze. Its a bastard to get some decent new ones for it as the stud pattern is unique so pretty much only customs will fit it, which means $$$. Â Well, it doesnt matter now anyways as it starts to get sprayed tomorrow hehe. That and I found out that it actually says the car is "bronze" even though the old colour really was far from bronze, more of the dark red or a maroon. Ah well. MindCorrupt
 Ha, knew it'd look tough. Thats a sexy kit on there, rims look tough as. Nice car  Vicedog and Mac: Different cars for different tastes, its really a car that you either really dislike or really like, its got a unique shape and mechanics and thats what catches my eye about them. In my opinion they were the best looking cars that came out out of japan. That and the old school skylines.  Anyways, i might head down and see the car tomorrow. Trying to get prices on either a 13b turbo conversion or just a complete rebuild of the engine. Depends really on how my finances turn out this month. MindCorrupt
Heyo  Some progress. Today the base coat went on, after a while of my panel beater taking time off. The paint might look a bit flat at the moment but its because it is the base coat, theres still 4 coats to go and when its finished it should have a nice speckled shine (and will most likely look a bit darker). Right hand door is also on but still needs allignment.  The colour could not be nissan bronze due to the fact that they do a special method of getting the colour (3 coats of different paints to get the overall bronze colour). This paint is based apon "Radiant Copper" (a mazda colour). Its gonna look great when its finished and does look similar to my original pick.  Pics:       Next week the mirrors and exterior parts should start going back on along with badges etc. Should start seeing the overall finished product. Cheers
Dup
Wow ed, as I've said that's some sext craftsmanship. Your car is going to look really nice and it'll be worth a lot more too! Not that you'll sell it though I doubt, not after all this work! Â Are you having all the wheels and chrome parts etc polish/refurbished to suit the shiny paint new?
