Dublo 7
For f*ck sake. Metal Gear Solid is a masterpiece. You don't need a sh*tty hollywood movie. f*ck!
GameMaster90
For f*ck sake. Metal Gear Solid is a masterpiece. You don't need a sh*tty hollywood movie. f*ck! Come on Dublo, it's Hollywood for f*cksake. They see a perfectly great idea that is making money for it's originality and classic-status, so they whore it out 'till there is nothing left. Just look at all the recent remakes they've been doing, more than half of those suck compared to the orginals. Plus, I don't think games should be made into movies, the trans into the big screen usually doesn't look too good, it loses that feeling the game had. Gamefreek79
Metal Gear Solid always seemed to be a movie in itself anyway, as the cutscenes seemed longer than the gameplay..
CoplandVictim
Metal Gear Solid always seemed to be a movie in itself anyway, as the cutscenes seemed longer than the gameplay.. Essentially MGS is a playable movie, and a good one at that, there is really no need for this.

Fatality.
This is pathetic. There's no way that they'll be able to make it work. It will be impossible to cast the right actor for Snake.
Dublo 7
This is pathetic. There's no way that they'll be able to make it work. It will be impossible to cast the right actor for Snake. I actually am starting to agree with this. I haven't thought of one actor that I would like to act as 'Snake'.
tehhunter
It'll probably end up with Tom Hanks as snake and he has a monkey friend that helps him infiltrate bases named Shimmy. Hilarious antics ensue. There are times when I hate humanity.

GTA_kev
I really really doubt there will be an MGS movie. It was a rumor back in '99 but I don't think it will actually happen. Edited August 4, 2005 by GTA_kev
Mexicola9302
Metal Gear Solid is finally coming to the big screen after more than a decade in development and it's time to get excited. In December 2020, it was confirmed that Oscar Isaac would be playing the lead role of Solid Snake, with Kong: Skull Island's Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing and a script by Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly. The movie adaptation has been talked about since 2006 when Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima said that one was in development. However, it's only been in the past year where there's been significant development. It'll likely be a while until we find out whether it can live up to the classic video game series, so for now, here's everything you need to know about the Metal Gear Solid movie. As mentioned above, the most exciting news is that Star Wars and Marvel star Oscar Isaac is set to lead the movie adaptation, starring as Solid Snake. In August 2021, Isaac explained that he's taking on the iconic role has revealed because he loves the game series, which should reassure fans. "I love the feeling that the game would give me every time I'd play," he said. "It's just a strangely isolated, mournful, lonely game to play that has these incredible moments of violence and terror, with these weird, psychedelic concepts and villains." For those unfamiliar with the game itself, the character is exceptionally smart, fluent in six languages, and spent most of his life on the battlefield. He keeps his emotions buried, is a loner but is also flirtatious, self-sacrificing and believes that friendship and love can exist even during times of war. How much of his game story will be part of the movie remains to be seen. No other roles have been cast, but with a bonafide star like Isaac in the lead role, we can only imagine the rest of the cast will be as exciting. Metal Gear Solid plot: What will the Metal Gear Solid movie be about? We haven't had any official plot details, but Vogt-Roberts teased to EW that the movie would feature a "new type of action on screen". "[It's] also is based in the quietness of the stealth, knowing that every step you take as you go further into the belly of the beast, further away from safety," he explained. "[The Metal Gear Solid] game and Kojima-san's world mean the world to me, and that's something that I'm very proud of what we're doing. I think it's very Kojima, punk rock, twisty." There's plenty to mine from the game series if they want to do a direct adaptation whether it's Solid Snake taking on Foxhound or when he came out of retirement to rescue two hostages from Shadow Moses island. Talking to Total Film, Isaac praised the fact that the game series is an "anti-war story", so we should be seeing a faithful recreation of those themes in the movie. "I love the feel of playing it, and the big question of: can something like that be transferred – or can you explore those themes in a really interesting way – on film?," he added. Metal Gear Solid release date: When will the Metal Gear Solid movie be out in cinemas? No word yet on a release date and given Isaac's packed schedule, this is a movie for which we're probably going to be waiting a long time. When announcing Isaac's casting in December 2020, Deadline noted that there was no start date for filming and that hasn't changed yet. Isaac has been busy recently with Marvel's Moon Knight series (out in 2022), so it's not clear if production will start this year. We're probably looking more at a 2022 filming start date at the earliest which could hint at a 2023 release date, but this is purely speculation from us for now. Metal Gear Solid trailer: Any Metal Gear Solid footage yet? Unsurprisingly, there's no footage yet of the Metal Gear Solid movie as it hasn't started filming, but hopefully once it does, we'll get some on-set footage of Isaac as Solid Snake. Sorry for digging out this very very old thread, but it's better than creating a new one. I was googling around a bit, and found that article, and some others.
