PresidentKiller
Just as I said in here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...dpost&p=3007198 Summary: It was Rockstar's fault, not Patrick's. And I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar used Patrick as a scapegoat and get more publicity for their game. Now, with this "new" release of San Andreas and a useless patch for the PC version. If Rockstar makes the mistake of turning the game unmoddable, they'll be losing a lot more than what they are (if they are, after all) losing right now. Rockstar will probably release a patch with the bug fixes ALSO eliminating the coding for the "Hot Coffee" mod. While as, they will take it out of retail versions being made, and then re-release it so it will fit the "M" ESRB.
G twenty-nine
I am glad that this is AO. Pixelated human nature (pleasure being part of the human nature) is wrong. Also, you don't have the choice to buy the game, seriously, in stores they put a gun to your head and make you buy it. Same goes with the mod, the origional content had nothing wrong in it, but those f*ckers had to make it so that you could mod it and be able to do that, forcing you to get the mod. This shouldn't be AO, it should really be banned EVERYWHERE.
Raptomex
Ok. I don't agree with this rating. Just because a mod was released that allowed people to view the sex doesn't mean it should be rated AO. It wasn't released when the game came out for PS2 (honestly that sucks). The actual official release of the game does not contain the view of sex. I personally think this shouldn't be problem. I mean sex is in movies all the time. I think the gang bang violence, the vulgar language, and the intense sadistic nature of the game is more harmful. ReadMeMyMirandas
My dad never let me get Vice City, when he said I could get SA I was so happy. I later got VC, but still. My dad had always hated these games, and he saw this on the news today. "I knew that game was bad." ITS A MOD. I know it was in the game, but you couldnt get it! In many other games you can get nude skins, that would easily make the game AO. But no. This of all games needs to get the rating. I own every GTA to date, except the two Gameboy Color ones, and I plan to keep that up. If I cant get LCS because of this, Im gonna get sick. Why do we think took this out of the game anyway? So they didnt get an AO. They should have removed the content, not locked it. Ok, Ive voiced my opinion. This is America people. The only country where sex is worse than murder. Jasonlives
The PS2 SA board at GameFAQs is obviously on fire with this case. teh roxxors
Take Two predicts a loss in excess of $50 million. Their shares dropped $3.07 just today. Bet some lead designer loses his job over this mess. Rockstar thought they could do no wrong? Seriously, what the hell where they thinking, leaving the sex games in the retail release? Somehow, I think it would have cost a lot less than $50 million to have removed the code from the game before it went gold. Never in a million years would I have guessed this outcome would happen so fast. That ESRB doesn't play around . . . .
CarlJohnson24
Well im 15 and bought SA for PS2 when i was nearing 15 and i only had it from the first day of release until 2 days before the start of this year and i havent had it for just over 6 months, but as i said in a earlier post im getting it tomorrow or on the weekend and i won't be affected. The AO rating i say sucks but there are ways around it. forever. NUTZ_J98
Well looks like a pleasing decision from the upper areas of Gvt. I will be greatly satisfied when this rating only puts a dent in sales because of the delay time for package changes. That will really put a dent in the minds of Clinton and associates. She is just still mad about her husband findin some extra tuna in the sea. I would find it wrong if they would have found Mature to be enough after R* admits to putting content in game. And it would have been even worse if they would have denied it and put it off on modders then sites started gettin shut down and modders turned into hackers and our favorite parts of games which are the ones we invent are put on the block. Nobody should have a problem with this decision. You should complain to Rockstar for not being honest at the beginning. If you want the game with a lower rating then write R* and ask for less mature content so you can buy game. No reason for blaming people we vote for to make laws to protect children. You will want the same control of your childrens viewable content when you have them. I bring these views to the table as an adult, a voter, and a father. I know it is hard to take knocks all the time from Gvt. about our video games but you have to realize that is our job to hold companies responsible for creating a limited fan base by bad decisions. Opius
Rockstar have a catch 22 here. The only way they can prevent the Hot Coffee mod from being installed is hardcoding the mission script, which will: A: Severely piss off everyone involved in modding and make it impossible to add ANY new code whatsoever. B: Not be a guaranteed fix since people can still use things like SCM hooks to run code externally.
smellincoffee
Does anyone know the options of other electronics stores in selling AO games? Places like Best Buy, Electronics Boutique, and GameStop? I had planned to buy SA the day it came out, but found out that my system is deficient in both RAM and the graphics card, so I decided to wait until I had saved up the money to buy both- the same issue is preventing me from enjoying The Sims 2 and will undoubtedly spoil my enjoyment of Civilization IV as well. I'm still trying to save the money, although it's difficult since I haven't found a job yet.

"[uPDATE 2 and 3] It didn't take long for the effects of the rating to be felt. Late Wednesday, Target, and Best Buy issued press releases they were pulling all versions of San Andreas from shelves. Unconfirmed reports had GameStop following suit, and Wal-Mart told CNN/Money that it had issued orders to all stores to stop selling the game. "We do not sell games that are rated AO," Wal-Mart spokesperson Karen Burk told the site. Switch_Designs
i'm completly speachless they managed to have the first ao rated game. it will open the door to alot of other ao titles and the laws are getting changed to make it even tougher for kids to get these type of ao games all because someone caught rockstar with their pants down >.< (interesting how now Rockstar is the goodguys now working with the esrb now when it was them that created the perveted mini game in the first place.) And what if i made sexual related mods for San Andreas? is that ok since it was not them that created it and did a poor job removing it b4 release??? i think all of it seems like some carefully planned bullsh*t (or an amazing accident that was abused by rockstar and the government of the usa to take away the rights of americans while pumping them full of soon to come ao rated games ....) Hugef1
Ok WTF is your problem? If you are under 18 then you shouldn't get this game anyway. Is it legal for an under 18 to buy A/O games? In the UK and other civilised places we have the same system for games as films. GTA games are all 18, meaning NO-ONE under 18 is allowed to buy this game and shops will get into serious trouble if they do.

B: Not be a guaranteed fix since people can still use things like SCM hooks to run code externally. Rockstar twisted the facts so it made modders (or "internet hackers") the bad guys and R* victims of "...significant technical modifications and reverse-engineering of the game's source code." It's pretty bad when we've been asking for a patch to fix some issues and will probably end up with a patch to stop the "hot coffee" scenes working (though someone clever will surely fix that). I wonder if the change in rating will filter down to Australia, which doesn't have anything higher than the current MA15+ rating for games. GTA3Freak-2001
If i was to buy SA on the weekend would i still be able to buy it? At the moment this only effects the ESRB which only the US use, there should be no change to the Australian version until they themselves investigate and deem the game needing a rerating and either banned all out or edited versions requested from Take 2. @Huge F1 - Its the reasons for the re-rating that has people frothing at the mouth rather then the fact people under18 can't purchase GTASA. TOGA62
I can CONFIRM I can personally confirm that all rental stores such as Blockbuster and Hollywood Video are taking GTA SA from shelves. I work at hollywood video, and we are being forced to send all versions of SA for ps2 and xbox back to our corporate company due to its AO rating. No place, be it Gamecrazy, gamestop, EB, or any other large store will sell GTA SA now because of its rating. Just think, how often do you see ANY AO rated games at your local Gamecrazy? You don't. And no, GTA SA isn't the first ever AO rated game. AO rated games just aren't well known. So sorry those who don't have it. You're best bet is to try Ebay or something. Because until they make a newer version with the coding for the hot coffee mod gone, you won't be getting your hands on a copy of GTA SA for ANY system very easily. RichD7
Quite amusing when you consider that all this rating change fiasco is not due to the violence in the game but a few pixelated sex scenes, and here's me thinking sex was a natural free thing we all have to do to keep the species going. Strange then that such a fuss should be made over people seeing this. Surely by the early teens everyone knows about the in's and out's (pardon the pun) of sex. Over here in the sunny UK we've always had a very backward view of sex (only recently they changed the laws on hardcore porn so we could finally get it in licensed sex shops), and still to this day softcore porn (TnA) is hidden away in the standard Virgin and HMV shops, whereas 18 rated violent films are displayed with the kids cartoons. Strange message being sent out seems to suggest that we can handle kids seeing violence, but sex is a definite no-no. On a side note, what's the legal age of consent in the US. Thought it was 18, but that still doesn't change the fact that if the Hot Coffee scenes were duplicated in a film (with the same level of nudity) then it would get an R rating, or even a PG-13.... Quite funny that the legal age of consent in the UK is 16, yet to look at pictures of naked ladies you have to be 18... 2 whole years of having sex with your eyes shut!!!! No wonder we have such a high rate of teenage pregnancies over here!!!!!!!! Rich ps: what certificate did Manhunt get in the US. I suppose it got an M rating, coz there was no animated sex scenes!!!!
