"new" discoveries

Been racing lately as you guys know. There's been discussions on the differences between PS2 and PC. I've had very limited experience with PS2. However, I noticed right away that on PS2, if you're pressing the gas when you enter a car, Fido takes off IMMEDIATELY. Well, I've finally figured out how to do that on PC! When you enter a car, be holding the radio button in addition to forwards or backwards. You take off immediately. Keep in mind that this skips the closing door animation, so I wouldn't recommend doing it with a wanted level.

I also noticed that there are certain psuedo-cutscenes that can be skipped on PS2 (like when Maria meets up with Chico). I've discovered how to do that on PC as well after I was reading a readme in Barton's Mission Builder as he mentioned 12 as a keypress that is never used. It's the radio button once again. Not many times does this come in handy, but still.

I've been playing the game for over 3 years now and never knew these things, so I thought I'd share for others that don't know.

isn't his name claude? fido is just a nickname one of the characters said, as in "dog" that will do things when people tell them to. Anyway, in my pc game he does that anyway just by holding accelerate as you get in.

No, he bothers with sitting down, closing the door... I've played the game once or twice wink.gif

You have to sit down to drive a car.

Nah, REALLY? If you have nothing to add, move along. People who HAVE played both versions (or even just the PC version) will know what I'm talking about.

ive noticed that too. in PC (while i still had it) fido would always close the door. also, with the cutscenes and the radio, my mouse has that roll thingy, so im not sure if it did work. anyhow, im gonna try this stuff on the XBOX version. see if it works there.

The Double pack version has been "tinkered", Vice City has the most changes and GTA3 has the least changes such as the paramedic mission.

How has it been tinkered? (examples)

2003 Double Pack Changes

Vice City

"Trial By Dirt" Altered, no rain, Haitians and barrels appear in the first try.

Lionel Ritchie's song "Running with the Night" removed from Flash FM

Weapons Renamed:

Colt .45 = Pistol

Python = .357

Spaz Shotgun = S.P.A.S. 12

Ingram Mac 10 = Mac

Uzi 9mm = Uz-I

MP5 = MP

Ruger = Kruger

PSG-1 = .308 Sniper

Easier To Get Cop Uniform. The two cops in the locker room removed

Boats Sink Differently

Detonator Bug Fixed

Blurriness For "Boomshine Saigon" Reduced

In the opening cutscene for "Recruitment Drive" (Films Asset), the big breasted woman with the pasties is now wearing a halter top instead.

Cherry Popper Save Fix (?)

Rain And Blood Droplets Toggable.

Haitian Friendly Version. Dialogue that included nasty comments about Haitians have been removed.

Last but not least. A SWAT Van is now parked in the Vice Beach Police parking lot. (Behind the Malibu Club not Washington Beach).

..So these changes have been added. GTA3 only has a different paramedic mission in which instead of 80 people all together you now cllect 50 people altoghter. Looks like Rockstar pulled a "George Lucas". biggrin.gif

Claude is far too "French" for me...his name will always be "Fido" in my book.

I've only played the PS2 version (and can't imagine playing this game on a PC) and I consider the "accelerate-as-soon-as-you-get-in-the-car" skill to be essential while changing vehicles in the middle of a police chase...nice kind Demarest! I'm sure you'll save alot of PC players some frustration with this.

You guys don't mind if we stay on topic, eh? I realize things come up, but this is essentially a hijack...

Well if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! lol.gif

There are no rain/barrels/Hatians in the first run on PC either. The way the code looks, it's very intentional.
