Question about .set file and saved games.

Recommended Posts

My computer specs are well above Rockstar's recommended specs (1.1 ghz, ATI 9200, 320 MB RAM), and my textures aren't loading before I can run over them.

I read the troubleshooting FAQ, and learned that setting my draw distance to full and deleting my .set file will help me load textures quicker. The problem is, I have already accomplished a LOT in the game and don't want to lose my save. Will deleting my .set file delete my saved game, also?

PS : I just downloaded the original GTA1 and GTA2 from Rockstar, and I thought it was cool of them to release them for free.

The .SET file contains data specific to your hardware and options config. If you change something like your video card, you should delete the .SET file. If your game is glitchy or won't load for inexplicable reasons, then you should delete your .SET file. The only drawback to doing so is that next time you fire up the game, you have to go into options and set up your preferences again. If you're just changing draw distance, there's no reason to delete it, but doing so won't hurt either.
