Plaka
As we can all see the Thread is sometimes chaotic .... 2 helpers doing the same requests etc. The one sure thing is that the problem isn't going away ... I expect there'll be even more requests as more and more people buy this Game. So how can we make it better? any suggestions? Here's a couple from me: i. Make the "Requester" Edit his/her post to show COMPLETED ii. Helpers to have "edit" ability to edit posts? iii. Helpers use an Instant Chat facility like MSN, Yahoo, IRC Edited July 9, 2005 by Plaka
Mr. Coffee
Well, honestly, I think it should be okay as long as we (helpers) post what mission we are currently doing. I admit, I was guilty of not doing this simply because at first, I wasn't sure in my skills and didn't want to feel the obligation. But now I've got better, so I post " in progress".. I think it's just a matter of refreshing the page before taking on a new mission, and seeing if somebody else is already on it.
Nik_W
Firstly, I'd like to say I came on here because I was using another GTA forum and helping people out but there doesn't seem to be enough on there for me to do So I came on and found loads on here, however it is a bit chaotic and I am sure there are loads of requests going unfinished. My suggestion would be to have a seperate section devoted to Save N Plays, that way it should be obvious if someone has completed a mission, etc. for someone. The current thread is almost 100 pages and I am sure it's slow when I click on it, unless the whole forum is.
Plaka
@ Mr. Coffee -- my posting what page I'm on isn't to do the whole page but to let you guys know where I am and what page needs requests completing. @Nik_W -- the whole Board is slow somtimes ... it doesn't help that I'm geographically a long way awya from the webserver. Plaka
@ Mr. Coffee ... nah man I'm glad you're helping out I've been helping out in SNP for a little while and things are just getting worse thats why I started this Topic. And we've got the weekend starting so there'll be a shi*load of requests I bet .. krazkamikazee's website is a good idea but I doubt if it or anything like it could be intergrated into GTAForum. NOTE:I'm going out to dinner now so I'll continue with SnP when I return ... c ya l8er guys Edited July 9, 2005 by Plaka
Nik_W
I've noticed the people who are helping are now posting to say they are working on someone's mission which is good. That way others won't come along and start something that someone else is working on, if that makes any sense. I will just continue to work on the latest missions because I am new here and didn't really wanna go back a few pages and work out the mess! Plaka
@ Nik_W Man thats what can cause problems people see that other requests posted later than their's are getting done and start re-posting. This just adds to the confusion. And as you say "(I) .... didn't really wanna go back a few pages and work out the mess! " That is exactly why I started this Topic ! don't get me wrong people I'm not the kinda guy who wants to 'organise' everything. I'd much rather just do my thing and have fun doing it. Ahh well lets see if there's any reaction from the Mods/ Admin I did PM wolf68k to drop in here ... maybe something can be improved upon. /me Off to SnP .... Wolf68k
Part of regets even starting the topic because of the choas that is in there, and hardly anyone listens. I almost want to have the topic closed and let that guy (I forget who it is, and I just don't give a damn to go look) with the web site that is doing that the same and is/was spamming the SnP about it have all of the fun. Plaka, that's a good idea about having them go back an edit their post after they have gotten a mission done for them and state that it's completed. The reason for there being so many pages is because people don't listen and number of them chit chat. But mainly I think it's because so many feel they can't fly. I've been looking at FAQs on the game. Tons of flying missions; atleast 5 or 6 in the flying school where you have to fly through rings. Then to make matters worse you're rewarded medals for how good you do, and of course everyone wants Golds...even though all you have to do is just complete the schools with any medal if you want to get the 100% (atleast if I understand some of the FAQs correctly). It doesn't seem like R* made SA any more fun by doing this, just more annoying. Then to top it off there are a ton of missions, story and side, to do. No hidden packages, rampages, or unique jumps (technically). But there are something about horseshoes, oysters, tags, and photos which is like 150 things to do through what is already a HUGE city. Then there is still the old stand-bys of, taxi, paramedic, fire fighter, vigilante, export cars. Then the list goes on and on and on.....etc. Great R* give people more to do and you gave them tons of room to do it in, but damn...there is such of a thing as 'too much'. Dear God I hope you 3 aren't the only helpers any more, there was a good number of them. Look, if I am right there the flight school, or any other school, doesn't require gold to 100% and someone needs the flight school done for them, then get the job done and move on. If they want Gold they can learn to fly and do it their damn self. @Nik_W I don't understand what you mean by "...have a seperate section devoted to Save N Plays, that way it should be obvious if someone has completed a mission, etc. for someone." You mean one topic for request and one for the results?
hYDES
i agree with wolf68k why not just delete the completed requests??
Plaka
@hYDES ... Deleting Posts could screw-up Member post count or other nasty problems like with the MySQL DB. I don't know enough about the Board setup to be certain. @wolf668k ... I'm glad you started the Topic man don't be despondent I know its chaos but at least its organised Yes SA is huge compared to previous Games and it does have a lot of flying which for me is one of the few things that entice me to play it. I for one would NOT do a request for the Horseshoes, Tags, Snapshots, Oysters they just take too long. Most of the requests are for the Flying Missions, Schools and then the harder missions. As far as I know there are more Helpers but I was too lazy to search through the 100+ pages of the Topic to get their nicknames. Things aren't that bad really and most of the Requests get done quite quickly, yes there is some Spam from impatient members and my PM box gets a bit too much action But hey we DO have a choice here ... that is not to do any requests ! As for the other website I'm damn glad GTAForum isn't like that !!! it's well made and functional and thats it. I did do about 6 requests there which is nothing compared to my total here which is around 150 at the moment. On a positive note ... whether changes are made or not, even if it takes time to hunt through the garbage I'll still do Requests for anyone that asks. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like that .... Have a or Wolf68k it was your idea and a damn good one !!! Plaka.
mikeswi
Honestly, what would really help is if the board admins made "Save N Play" a seperate forum or subforum. That way people's requests won't get lost and it's easier to see who is still waiting. I like to help out when I'm bored, but sometimes I go into that thread and can't tell who needs help and who doesn't. So I usually just go to the last person who posted. Plaka
Actually there are two Save N' Play Topics the Offiical one and another here. Though its much smaller at about 17 pages or so. I don't think there's an easy solution to the problems at SnP so maybe its best to work within the system as each of us sees fit. I'm sure that if we miss a request the member will post again When things do get to much I just stop doing requests for a while, there's always another day. Sir Random
Instead of deleting posts altogether, the guys who have had their missions completed should edit the original request post so it only contains one word: COMPLETED (in large green or yellow letters) There's no need to leave the original request details, or any other text in the post other than "COMPLETED". It would make it much easier for helpers to skip over old requests, rather than having to read through them to check if they're done.

San andreas master
save and play seems fine here, you dont need a subforum you WANT one, it would be kinda useless when you could just use a thread
mikeswi
That thread is overly large and hard to navigate. Like I said, it's hard to tell where the oldest unplayed save file is, so someone might get missed.
Mr. Coffee
My major problem with SnP is that it seems that people are way too eager to take advantage of it, and not even exploring other possibilities (ie: guides and faqs, cheats, trainers and so on). I see some individuals appearing with requests over and over. That can't be right.. can it? Anyway, I don't know about you, but I'll be more selective with requests I take in future.
