BenMillard
What makes people think that the GTA3 character is the same as the GTA2 character? GTA3 was set in about 2000 whereas GTA2 is set in the near future. That means the GTA2 guy would have to be really old to still be the same person. Like how Ken Rosenburg is visibly older in GTASA compared to GTAVC. Claude Speed in GTA2 isn't going bald and is referred to as still being a young adult rather than middle-aged or older. GTA2 and GTA3 must use different characters because they are set in very different times. The character in GTA3 was never named, even named in GTASA. He doesn't say anything in any GTA game. He is given the nickname "Fido" by Asuka because "Fido" is a common name for a dog and she views the GTA3 player as possesion, like a pet. The "Unknown Criminal" as it were, in contrast to the "Unknown Soldier" perhaps? Anyway, I havn't seen any credible resources which actually give a name to the GTA3 character. Claude was about 32 in GTA3 (2001) so he'd only be 36 in GTA2. Yes his name is Claude, because at the end of SA, Catalina calls when "doing business" with Claude, the same as the man in GTA3. Why would Catalina just get him as a new boyfriend and then suddenly start having it with other people? Also, Claude was called Fido by Maria, not Asuka. Learn your facts, Bu-D. -Chris82
Roundandround
Isn't GTA: II set in 2013? In a completely different city? That would make Claude around 45 in GTA: II, unless he was a lot younger in III. Edited July 10, 2005 by Roundandround

Nope, GTA2 was set in 2005. (July 19th to be specific) Also, someone said GTA2 was set in Tokyo, but that I look at it, it looks like the 3 districts (islands) of a primitive Liberty. -Chris82

GTA2 is set in 2013, that's why some of the cars and weapons are all futuristic. ^More proof. Kushology
Dan!
Didn't the video intro say 2005 on the screen or something? Or was it Claude's gravestone that said that? I don't really remember.

Havana
I think that the Claude fellow is ageless. He's a mute, cold-blooded killer whose only purpose is to wreak havoc and make money. I don't think he'll ever age no matter what GTA he may appear in. I believe that he represents the spirit of GTA. I mean, the point of the game is to be a ruthless bastard who never ages or dies, so wouldn't it make since to have a character who is the embodiment of that? Dunnoir1
According to the GTA 2 manual for the PSone version, it says it is set 1 week in the future. Thats all it says, one week in the future. it doesnt give a date, and it doesnt say a week in the future from any date or time. so it isnt bound to any set year, so you cant tell how old claude is in the game, and you cant really place it in the GTA timeline. is it a week after gta 3, or is it a week after we see him in san andreas. actually, that one makes sence. if it was set 1 week after san andreas, then it could have been a city claude and catalina stopped at on their way to liberty city

leper73
I've also seen online story outlines say that Claude was in a cryogenetic prison (ala Demolition Man), and was released around the time of GTA2.
GTA Nation Administrator
It wouldnt make that big a difference how old he was in GTA2. Its not like he would look any different from top-down view, hes just a little square. I mean think how old Tommy Vercetti must be, he'd have to be in his mid-20s at least to become heavily involved with the mafia, and after 15 years in prison he would be almost 40 years old in Vice City. by the way, who is this? looks like that guy on seinfeld

OtaconPliskin
From the things that I've read online; Claude Speed time-line wise is first introduced in San Andreas via Catalina, this is also where his name is revealed. After that, They move to Liberty City, Claude is shot, Vendetta ensues, etc etc. After Liberty City--Claude is presumably caught up in something bad, and at this time Cryogenics have been perfected (If anyone has any proof that this Cryogenics thing is real, It'd be much appreciated (I'm just going based on a few things I've read at semi-credible sources) ) and Claude is frozen in an attempt to be rehabilitated and sent back into the real world. Something goes wrong with the re-programming function of the cryogenics, and Claude is turned into a stronger, faster, better criminal. He is finally released in 2013 (Proven by the official GTA2 website) and goes on his prolific crime spree in Anywhere City, USA (For the longest time I thought GTA2 was set in Liberty..Ah well) If we're to go based on the movie, Claude Speed is either killed or injured at the end of his crime spree in GTA2 (However, Considering he survived a shotgun blast at close range, his death is anyones guess) Now, I heard someone found a gravestone of Claudes somewhere, Proof, Pictures, What game did you find it in? Anything. Because I'd be interested in precisely what date he died.
