Executioner Five

A month now...no patch, no sign of one on the horizon... BF 2 got a patch today. You going to tell me that game is less complex to program for than SA? Give me a f*cking break.

By not producing a patch--with no sign of one...R* is telling all the people who purchased the PC version, "f*ck off, we have your money already, if you can't run the game it's not our problem."

f*ck you, R*.

To be honest, why should they need to give a sh*t? It's not like it's needed for the online play.

5:50 pm.

The children have left the schools and came home. Christ.

And what would the patch fix ?? Most of the problems have been found to be driver conflicts and these are FIXABLE.

Which problem do you have with the game.

Explain the problem and a nearby adult will give you a link to the solution.

Which company is Pockstar ??

yeah what needs patching? it runs fine on my pc

unlike vice city, which i had to get some help from their support site. turned out [/b]I had a virus! at least once i found it with Avast (my norton didn't find it), the game fired right up! and it was WORTH it!

what are you playing on a fisher price busy box? my pc is ancient (P4 1.4G, 1G rdram, 9700pro) and it runs great!

run dxdiag and msconfig reports and send them to support, or post them here, perhaps we can point to the issue.

Stop bitching, Reinstall the game (clean). Rollback your ATI drivers and see if it works. If it doesn't then go play Asteroids or Frogger for an indulgement.

I dont like the posters attitude but he is right and for all you saying "it runs great on my PC, go play something else"... how rude and selfish is that? You're saying basically "it runs great for me, and thats all I care about, I dont care about other people who cant play the game, as long as it runs good for me, thats all I care about"

Well let me tell you something... I paid £35 for this game, I have a powerful PC and I have spent many weeks trying to fix GTA SA. My game keeps giving me a black screen at random times and I have to do a hard reboot which pretty much makes the game unplayable for me.

Just because it runs good for you, doesnt mean the game works good for everyone! I will keep waiting for a patch to be released as I have no choice.

im sure they are cooking something big, cuz there was a patch for gta3 and there was a patch for vice city, so there MUST be a patch fo SA, SA is big, so it may take awhile to find all the bugs, and make only 1 patch to fix them all. do u want GTA to be the second Starcraft has soooooooo many patch? i think the answer is no, so just keep playing or let others help solving the problems.

Yeah.. just becausse it works for 90% of people.. what about the other 10%.. people like ME! Random crashes, hard reboots. I tried all the tricks and workarounds, nothing doing. A simple patch to fix the biggest problems would be nice.. esp a month after getting the (as yet unplayable) game...

wrong attitude. it would be nice if there WAS a patch to get, or even many of them, as opposed to NO fix at all.

i'd rather tell people to get the latest patch, instead of telling them they're f*cked because the company is assraping its customers. speaking of which, my ass is starting to bleed. give us a patch you(R*) f*ckers mad.gif

If you don't like it, you don't have to play it.

what kind of moronic thinking is that? most places that sell pc games have NO return policy for them. ie, once you buy it, its yours until you find some means of disposing of it. and theres no demo either, so basically its a $50 gamble. but whether you can play it or not, R* has your money.

To be honest, why should they need to give a sh*t? It's not like it's needed for the online play.

because ITS THEIR f*ckING GAME, and they're responsible for it. if you get a product, and its defective, the company that produces it should atleast acknowledge the defect(s).

Stop bitching, Reinstall the game (clean). Rollback your ATI drivers and see if it works. If it doesn't then go play Asteroids or Frogger for an indulgement.

no. if it doesn't play, email them relentlessly until you get non-generic answers to your problem.

The general attitude seems to be "it works for me, you can go to hell". i and alot of other people, laid down $50 for this game, have pc's that meet the minimum requirements (mine is over the recommened) and have a sh*t ton of bugs errors and crappy/missing features, that R* wont even confrim exist.

i dont have to play it?

why should they give a sh*t?

if it doesn't work, play another game?

Fine. as soon as i get my money back, which in many cases, isn't possible or practical.

If you have a 1.4 GHz Celeron and can't play san andreas smoothly, get a new video card and memory. It's not Rockstar's fault if you are trying to run a DirectX 9 game with a card that doesn't support it.

I've got one problem myself, but it isn't a big deal. My sound card acceleration has to be turned down to hear the car/ped audio.

Secondly, I don't recommend getting any PC game when your system barely meets the minimum requirements without checking first.

Thirdly, you need to calm down. I don't like answering support questions from kids that start their thread by flaming.

Battlefield 2™ Patch v1.01

ReadMe File

July 5th 2005

Patch Information

=============================================

- Patch v1.01

Fixed in issue that caused the Multiplayer Browser to become unresponsive.

Fixed an issue where some game controls were not available to be rebound within the Options menu.

Fixed an issue with increasing performance degradation on servers.

Fixed a problem with shader caching on client/host : after the first map in a rotation, shaders would be loaded on the fly during gameplay.

Fixed a crash with rebinding LMB

Fixed a problem that caused environment mapping to not appear on reflective surfaces.

Fixed a crash that happened when a client picks up a kit that doesn't exist anymore.

Fixed a problem with AI when the game was paused for a long time: bots would become unresponsive and also shoot more accurately.

LOD distances tweaked on certain objects.

In the true EA fasion, This patch sucks ass. There are way more important things that need to be fixed.

i have a 2ghz CPU, 1gb ram and a Radeon x800 XT PE and an Audigy 2.

if thats not a DX9-compliant system, i dont know what is

i get horrible performance 95% of the time and AWESOME performance 5% of the time, reguardless of resolution, aa, effects level, etcetera

i completely lose all sound(INCLUDING the radio after about 20 seconds) when it rains

i get crashes from literally nothing at random

it has nothing to do with hardware and EVERYTHING to do with poorly-coded software

SA came out what nearly a month ago? How many problems need fixing? alot so maybe we should just be patient and if next month there's still no patch then we can go around parading "Rockstar f*cked us over!" Until then what's the point in bitching?

yeah what needs patching?

First whenever you blow off a cops head the police car still follows you around (WTF?) and what about the police motorcycle no one pulls over when you have the siren on or if you stop on the side of the road on the "freeway" traffic starts piling up on each other, at night I've seen traffic moving backwards in San Fierro I've even seen traffic flying above me and since we're talking about traffic I'm sick of constantly being rammed off my bike by unreasonably fast traffic.

That's straying away form actual problems with running the game, those things are more things that are in GTASA regardless of version.

perhaps. but having R* even say "yes, we know there are problems" would be a step in the right direction. i wouldnt be nearly as torqued if i had some idea of whats going on, right from them.

and if there wont be a patch ever, then why the suspense? just come right out and tell us we're f*cked. but ffs, say SOMEthing! the suspense is murder. atleast acknowledge that some of us have raised valid issues.

Yes true it would be good if we had some word from the big R. I am sure that they will release a patch though, its kinda tradition with both GTA3 and Vice City reciveing patches and for problems alot smaller then SA has.

When the patch is out, it's out. Meantime I don't think R* will put out any info on a patch. For me, the game is running very well, only a few gta_sa.exe crashes in 70 hours of play.

I do confront some crashes but all are my msn popping up

I'm on a 2.4G Celeron with only an intel 64MB video card.

Sometimes things go twitchin when raining but it's not that serious

I think it's only my hardware's problem

not all problems are driver conflicts, most of the problems even require to format, mess with device manager, manage windows registry, services, etc

not thats not a big deal for experienced users but what about ppl who got their computer a month ago and dont know what registry is?

most of the users dont even want to mess with device manager (and i cant blame them) and they simply want to fix their problems with a patch

another lame consol port (i guess its easier for developers to code for PS2 then work a little more and make a quality console port), money in front of respect :\

Your hardware means nothing if your an idiot (looking at your post Id say its safe to say that you are) and have viruses, spyware, overheating, hardware conflicts, idiot with drivers, whatever. Yeah OBVIOUSLY it HAS to be the games fault. I have a 2 ghz cpu too with a 9800 PRO my raido works after rain I get good performance with the settings at high quality AA set to 3 frame limiter off.

There a huge problem with my sa and it sounds like alot of people are having similiar problems. I cant play sa without i crashing after sometimes 10 minutes of gameplay. Some people are saying why does there need to be a patch just because there game is running properly that is a stupid thing to be saying they obviously havent read some of the threads on this forum. I have tried everything suggested to me to fix the problems and nothing has worked. I believe there needs to be a patch to fix the problems soon because i cannot return the game from the retail outlet i bought it from and other people cant either.

Yelling/ranting won't get you anywhere. Just be paitent ffs, you could always try and fix them your self instead of waiting for someone else to do it for you. Yeah I know the bugs are dissapionting, but atleast and make a decent attempt to fix it. That's what I did when I had Sound problems and other things. Now it's pretty much fine, becuase I got off my ass and fixed it. If you don't know how to, i'm guessing there is a kid you know who would be happy to fix it for 10 bucks confused.gif

dozingoff.gif

it has nothing to do with hardware and EVERYTHING to do with poorly-coded software

You're basing this from where? Maybe your sound card has a particular problem with the game, and then it's your hardware. Oh snap. Maybe some of you should fix your grammar and aditude before complaing to us, when we can't to sh*t to get a patch out faster.

well how about some of you folks who are having problems sending your dxdiag report and your msconfig report to rockstar support?

i did that with vice city. and they got me going, and were very nice.

it's not that i don't care that your game doesn't work so much. it's that is works for many folks, and i don't see how, if you have a pretty standard, decently powered system, you couldn't make it work.

standard stuff:

run virus checkers (my problem with vice city) (Avast found them, norton didn't)

run defrag

make sure you have plenty of disk

make sure you have plenty of swap (and it's enabled even if you have an assload of RAM)

make sure you have GPU drivers that work for some people already.

install program

KILL all unnecessary processes (disconnect from interweb!) kill firewall(s), spoolers, helpers, etc (i do this for most games since i only have a p4 1.4G)

sometimes i run an app like rampage (did for vice city, not SA) in the background to help reclaim RAM that may not be getting freed properly

if you have done these things and you have a standard pc, with spec power, you should be fine.

but just bashing rockstar which is clearly not at fault here IMO. does no good, expecially here.

and don't use dodgey no cd cracks and stuff, or anything like mods. till you get it running.

then if it breaks...blame those things!

and damn the guys telling i have junk on my high end PC so i cant run the game properly, well in many cases thats not the reason

if i can run all the other new games (NFS:U2,BF2,HL2,DOOM3) without a glitch i cant see why GTA:SA shouldnt work flawlessly on my PC too? so if a guy says he tried all the fixes mentioned on this forum and has more then capable PC to run the game why shouldnt u trust the guy?

if i get a hardware conflict only in this game and no other fkorz i am going to think its bad coding

didnt rockstar games learn anything from GTA3 and vice city? :\

did you run a virus check (with avast) that was the last thing i'd have thought of, but that's what rockstar suggested and the six files i found and deleted were the problem!

anyway pc's are very complex. and i'd say the vast majority of folks have no problem.

in my experience there is something dodgey about your system you're not telling us or are not aware of. like a no cd crack, a virus, an improper resource setting (eg swapspace)

it's definately something, and it's not rockstar's fault. it's very difficult to account for all sorts of dodgey crap that folks put on their pc's (or gets put on their pcs)

my pc has nothing like that, and i have no problems really. when i had a few, it was a virus, and with boiling point, it was reducing the unnecessary procs.

i played all those games you specified as well, plus this one. if i were you, i'd go on a hunt for dodgey stuff.

start by (using taskmgr) killing every killable process (user and system...though not stuff like local service

that'll reduce your suspects. or post a list of your procs and i will tell you what is killable.

get enditall...it shows you more procs (like hidden viruses) than taskmgr does.

or contact rockstar support (send them dxdiag report and msconfig report, that's the first thing they'll ask for)

if they find something, they'll tell you what to do, if not, they may use it as evidence for a patch (unlikely)

most likely they'll tell you what i've told you to do.

GTA San Andreas definitely has to be patched and I hope they are working on it.

Please, all of you who have problems bombard the support of Rockstar Games.

At least, there is one major bug which can be found at various system configurations:

The rain bug:

If the rain (or thunderstorm) starts all other sounds except for the music vanish.

This bug is more or less pronounced.

I found this bug on a Realtek onboard ALC-650 sound card and a SoundBlaster Live!

(at various systems).

If you decrease the hardware accelaration of your sound card it can be circumvented

but then you get stuttering at several situations (and, I assume, the really cool EAX

sound is turned off.

I will continue to contact Rockstar support. Please, DO so, too, if you have problems!!!

I have to mention that I nevertheless played the game till 100% completition.

By the way, I found people I 'd call "stupid loyalists" who utter stuff like "I have no problems.

Everything is fine.". Some of them I had to show the rain bug - they just had not registered

themselves with their "low-level sensors".
