THESE are the people you should 'fear'. they're all about controlling you and staying at the head of the table through FRAUDULENTLY claiming to know about any number of things they actually know nothing about. I'm quite sure that they DO care, they're just too ignorant about what's actually in these games to make any kind of an adult decision about it. If they DO know what's in these games and they really don't give a crap, then they're probably crappy parents for letting any of you play these games without some sort of guidance. I'm not saying they need to hold your hand or anything, but I think at least confirming to you that the things in the game are bad and should never happen in real life is a sign of a parent who at least takes an interest in what their child is exposed to. The age thing is relative because there's mature 12 year olds who can handle this game, and then there's grown 30 year old men who cringe at the sight of it. The ESRB ratings are guidelines to let parents know what sort of content a game contains. Some parents are comfortable exposing their kid to R rated material, some aren't. Personally, I wouldn't let my kids play an M rated game until they were 15 or so, but that's just one person's opinion. If you can handle this game without trying to emulate the character's attitudes, actions and other stuff then you're mature enough to play. If you're one of those retards who runs around saying "Fo' sho'" to everything and giving gang signs to your teachers, you need to go play with your Bert and Ernie playset a bit more. You have a point, but saying their crappy parents because they let their son or daughter play violent games is a pretty generlised opinion. Althought parents may let their son or daughter play the games, doesnt mean they are crappy parents, but means that they trust their son or daughter not to go on a killing spree at the shopping centre, or treat people with little or no respect! LOL yeah it was pretty generalized, but I think you got my meaning. There's plenty of parents that are aware of what these games are like who trust their kids and know they're mature enough to handle things like this. The "bad" parents are the ones who are so totally out of touch and make it clear to their kid that "I don't care what you do". -- That's the sad part for me. Timpo Posted July 5, 2005 Share Posted July 5, 2005 I almost start to think most of the people on this forums are 14, (I am) almost everybody says "Im 14." about the age rating of the games, it's easy to blame video games for all the violence, but it's not the only factor. bad parents who let their kids do anything they want, and raise them with the idea that violence is normal. are wrong too. for some kids violence is normal, it's possibly in their brains or something, they're crazy, and they think violence is the only solution, because in some video games, like GTA, it is. and they do something mad, like shooting their teacher (some time ago where I live it happened.) and people start blaming GTA and other videogames, because a small group of idiots spoil it for the rest of the world. also, I know, it's easy to blame GTA, but look at this. Yea i'm 14 qnd i've been playing all the GTA's and my parents don't care so f*ck those ppl who think us kids don't know right from wrong!!! I usually have to wait for my 8 year old son to be in bed first, as here in the UK this game has an 18 rating the same as a movie would. So therefore I certainly wouldn't allow him to play or even let him watch me play it. It simply isn't suitable for him to play this game & the law says so. If he went to buy it or rent it from a store they wouldn't sell it to him or they could be prosecuted. If he went to a cinema do you think they would let him in to watch the Texas Chainsaw Massacre or a film like that ? Not a chance in hell. He does understand the difference between real life & games but in my opinion somebody so young does not need to be seeing people shot in the face at point blank range with a sawn of shot gun & such, let alone be participating in such past times. All you teenagers on here may think thats a boring attitude to have but I'm just abiding by the regulations & laws of my country which are obviously there for a reason, to protect children. I still remember when my older brother introduced me to the original gta when i was really young and playing that. I dont think the violence in the games has messed me up at all.
