Gela
Now days, you dont see many people over 40 playing video games... but thats because 30 years ago, when they were kids, video game industry was very small so they never grew up playing games. However now the industry is big and more and more kids grow up playing video games as opposed to legos, toys, etc... so, do you think that by the middle of the century video games will be played by people of ANY age, like old 80 year olds playing games? Wolf68k
<old man voice>Look here, ya young whipper snapper. Who you calling old? *hits you a cane*</old man voice> Seriously though, in my clan a good number of us are older. The oldest one is about 40-45, I forget. I'm 33. The team founders is around in thier mid-30s as well. We do have some young kids in there as well, even a girl. Back to the oldest fart in the clan; he plays Tribes2, Tribes:Vengance, BF1942, BFV, BF2, COD, COD:UO, NASCAR sims, Tiger Woods, Guild Wars, CS:Source, and others....and these are just some of the games I know about and I can remember. Dalpura
No doubt about it Gela, I know I'll be playing when I'm older, obvious not as much as I do now in my care free age of course. But there are a few older gamers already. My mother's 41 and plays Age of Mythology every second day for about 2 hours, and has done since it came out. Before that Age of Kings, and so on. I used to be in an Unreal Tournament clan also. The leader was about 25, and the other memebers were 20-50, besides myself and Hynes. Quite a few of them around, I'm 16 and often have guys in UT have a go at me. Calling me baby and such, better than old c*nt I suppose. Grandthefter
My dad used to play Driver (the first one) around 2000 before i got my PS2 which would of made him about 50. He didn't like Driver 2 much though cos the walking ruined it. darthYENIK
I tried to get my dad to play MVP baseball, not really even a hard game to pick up, but he just can't. He's 46. He couldn't even get down PGA golf. It sucks for him, because he sees me playing medal of honor, and call of duty, he loves WWII movies, and he'd really love it. MsNobody
People who are over forty aren't really THAT old. I picture seventy and eighty old but anyways. My mother is forty-two and she still plays games like Mario Party and Buster Brothers. My father plays Duke Nukem or any shooting game once in a while when he can find the time. He's like thirty-nine or something like that. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/200129-old-people-video-games/#findComment-2942752 Share on other sites
Run DMC
My dad used to play Gran Turismo 2 with me, and Super Mario 64 too. He also played 007 goldeneye back at the time. I think I was about 18, or 17 dunno. I'm 24 now. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/200129-old-people-video-games/#findComment-2944426 Share on other sites

CoplandVictim
My dad plays a bit of Warcraft III every once in a while, but no one in my family but me and my brother, (17 and 20) play video games on a daily basis. Back in 1997 I got my mom to play through Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time, which was nice, but other then Mario Party occasionaly she isn't a gamer either. Super Rockin' Mr. Magic
Yes. anybody (who is interested in computer games) born after 1995 will probably be playing computer games. but look at it this way how many 50+ do you see playing with lego or other toys of their generation? Kippers
My dad attempts to try and play any new game that i buy, but he's more amazed at how all the stuff can be fitted into such a small space than trying to consentrate on the game so he pretty much sucks. my uncle is pretty much up to date with games he's in his 40's although the latest he's got is a PSone he still likes playing new games i have when he visits But for me i'm gunna try and stay as up to date with the gaming world as possible so that when i have kids i can be the 'kool dad' who's into the right things. But i'm only 14. I could be saying differently in 10 years time Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/200129-old-people-video-games/#findComment-2946974 Share on other sites
ADJ
I think most older folk reject things that they were unfamiliar with as children or young adults, eg. videogames, the internet, etc. which is why you don't see a lot of them playing video games. Of course, there are plenty of exceptions. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/200129-old-people-video-games/#findComment-2947515 Share on other sites
Sir Million Knives
My uncle (45) is an HC-gamer. The bad thing is, he can hand my ass to me in ANY game. And I mean any. Smashdamit
Actually,a person around 40(like me unfortunately) is the FIRST generation to grow up with video games. First we had Pong. Then we got stuff like Atari 2600,Intellivision,ColecoVision etc.I know most prolly never heard of those systems. In the arcades, pinball dissappeared to be replaced by some plumber named Mario in Donkey Kong.Soon Pacman appeared...the rest is history. Black-hawk
Well my Dad's 50 and I made him play SA PC. His driving was rather good to my surprise. But when it came to moving the player around using the mouse, it got ugly. Mum refuses to play any games though (She's 40), well I tried to make her play VC, she just started hitting every ped and lamp post in sight and said GTA's a crap game. CtrlAltSupr
Everytime I tryied my dad to play something he fell asleep halfways through the "how to play" talk. Wing Attack
I've always thought old people playing games was weird. I remember like 5 years ago I was about 10, I went over to a mates place and his dad was playing the Playstation, and I was scared :S. It's just thinking about an old person playing games makes me sad. It's like seeing one of those people who sit in the movie theatre alone. They're usually about 55 - 65 and have a sad face. You feel sorry for them, but they're don't really need compassion because they don't know they're losers. I used to play games a lot, when I was like 12 - 13, but these days I get bored after about 10 minutes, and I rarely play. NeoSNightmarE
i tried to get my dad to play me in some tekken back in the PS1 days. it was straight button bashing. and i lost. and i still hear about it today that he kicked my ass. but there were a lot of systems that were out throughout the last 30 years that are hardly referred to as systems in normal conversations...such as colecovision. i have one of them and its pretty cool. retro as all hell but still a good system from that era.
