SaltonSea123
Here's rollingstones.com's list of the 500 best songs all time. 500 greatest songs I don't agree with it at all. Bob Dylan as number one? Right. the top five should look something llike this: 1. Imagine, John Lennon 2. You Can't Always Get What You Want, The Rolling Stones 3. Hey Jude, The Beatles 4. Baba O Riely, The Who 5. Purple Haze, Jimi Hendrix they put nirvana's smells like teen spirit at number 9? wtf? No way, it's like number 150. It isn't that great, young people just liked banging thier heads to it, it has no profound writing, anybody can write lyrics like that (okay, maybe not the current blondes of popular music today). SaltonSea123
true, but at least I didn't put oasis way up there at number one. Hell, Oasis didn't even make their 500 greatest song list!!! WTF!!! They're the biggest thing to happen out of the UK since 1994!!!!! Bullocks! They should've made the list. You know who prolly made the list? American editors/columnists and stupid people like Oprah and Larry King, stupid crap like that. You know what, someone should lock this topic or delete it, it pisses me off. get rid of it. Hard Margin
I would've thought Radiohead and, recently, Coldplay, were the biggest thing to come from the UK since 1994. Dylan deserved a high spot, Nirvana didn't.
SaltonSea123
No, I'd say Oasis have sold a hellova lot more albums than Coldplay and Radiohead combined. Heck, even if Radiohead and Coldplay were better, the third best band from the uk in ten years surely warrants atleast one song on the stupid rollingstones list. don't you think? Outkast was f*cking on the list! BS. I hate when magazines/tv/radio do crap like this, they make it seem as if it's a fact, a factual list of the best songs ever. So the public buys into it and magazines/tv/radio continue to make the lists. VH1 is practically a f*cking list itself, every other show is a countdown to "the best 100..." gta_king
As much as I try to keep an open mind about music how the f*ck does this work. 290 Stan by Eminem 166 Lose Yourself (explicit) by Eminem ------------------------------------------------------------ 316 Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd 375 Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 2 by Pink Floyd 314 Preview Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd Eminem was ahead of Pink Floyd? Rolling Stone are the literal suck.
jelly
Making a list like this is just silly.
Hard Margin
Nevertheless, I think they kind of have to put Dylan high up in the list by default, because of thier name. What jllr said.
Ping
8 -- Hey Jude -- The Beatles Are you joking me? Hey Jude as the eighth greatest song ever? This list is a joke.
Bigs
I always thought "Tangled Up in Blue" and "Blowin' in the Wind" were better than "Like a Rolling Stone". But yeah, that list seems pretty far out.
Dirty Sanchez
I hate lists for the best songs ever. You can never make everyone happ with them. And yeah, Rolling Stone the magazine does suck.
Groovy
Enter Sandman made the list. I mean it's a good song, but it's not one of the 500 best songs ever. They should have had One instead.
K_Speed
true, but at least I didn't put oasis way up there at number one. Hell, Oasis didn't even make their 500 greatest song list!!! WTF!!! They're the biggest thing to happen out of the UK since 1994!!!!! Bullocks! They should've made the list. Prodigy was bigger than Oasis for sure. They sold more in the US than oasis, and sold more world-wide with fat of the land. was a world record at the time with number 1 in 27 countries. liam howlett from prodigy and liam gallagher are brothers now, kinda funny. dont like gallagher though, he destroyed the last song of the new prodigy album, hate his f*cking voice, would have loved the instrumental raw british version. oh well........ .Sonny.
The fact that Eminem is on the list of the 500 "best" songs ever, just proves that it is bullsh*t. I don't see how he could beat "Roxanne" (388) by The Police, or "f*ck Tha Police" (417) by NWA. Makes no sense...
Guglielminpietro
What is the list based on? Like, one editor's opinion?? ..five-star jury of singers, musicians, producers, industry figures, critics and, of course, songwriters. Christ, I don't know which supposed singers, musicians, producers, industry figures, critics and, of course, songwriters they asked, but they should have asked more. Or just different ones. soundcloud.com/TheDamnFineCoats
Lugatti
They're the biggest thing to happen out of the UK since 1994!!!!! Placebo. and The Futureheads. (But mostly Placebo) Arm yourself with knowledge.
JulioCaesar
I would've thought Radiohead and, recently, Coldplay, were the biggest thing to come from the UK since 1994. Dylan deserved a high spot, Nirvana didn't. Ditto on so many levels. Radiohead and dylan=way way waaaay more influential and ground breaking than oasis. Anyways, I think its impossible/not right to name off the greatest songs ever. Its just gonna piss off more people than intentioned.

Pump Bumper
i think i'd move "for what it's worth" by buffalo springfield up for 63 to the top 10 maybe. i got a nice lil chuckle from "buddy holly" by weezer at 497. goood times. edit: wtf, no doors break on through to the other side? blasphemy! ToyMachine
I came to the conclusion that this list of 500 songs is composed of songs from about 30 albums/artists.
OH NO
Did they give some sort of formula as to how they picked these songs? Or did it involve a hat.
DidierSucks
Good grief, the first two pages of this list is like a What's-What of songs other people love, but that make me want to kill something small and furry.
Purple9
Are you sure this isn't just the 500 best from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s? Everyday People Sly & the Family Stone 1968 I mean - who the f*ck? Don't Worry Baby - (single version) The Beach Boys 1964 THIS Beach Boys' songs (one which no-one even remembers) gets higher than JOY DIVISION'S best hit - Love Will Tear Us Apart. Awful. The Precinct - We're upping our standards, so up yours!

This list completly lost all credibility when I saw Eminem with TWO SONGS on it. Honestly, if Eminem can make it, why didn't Kraftwerk? I mean frick, look what they did for Techno, and what some of these people on the list did. ? & the mysterians < ------ What? mykellhorror
It's more of a list of "most successful" songs rather than musically superior music. The day Eminem is put above any Beatles song for songwriting the world would stop spinning and we would all wonder if Communism isn't such a bad idea after all. Then God will cry and walk away. Pump Bumper
? & the mysterians < ------ What? *sigh* the lead singer of the mysterians was...uhh...crazy and he legally changed his name to "?". not "question mark", but actually that symbol. confusing, eh? i'm sure you've heard the song though "you're gonna cry 96 tears, you're gonna cry, cry cry cry........"
