Kaoru
I don't know if I'm the only one that's been noticing this or not... but does it seem like all of the new movies that have been coming out are either an old remake of a show into a movie - or they are a comic book, made into a movie. I have a feeling that it was the success of the first two Spiderman movies that started all of this. I mean, they did The Punisher and Catwoman (Even Garfield got a little peice of this). Now they just did Batman Begins. They're working on a Superman and a Fantastic Four. I mean, even if you haven't read the comic books, you've at least seen the older movies or old cartoon shows that they were involved in. I'm sure it's hard to live a life not knowing about Superman. Now, not only are comic books being overly made into movies. I've started to notice that old shows are starting to be remade. Fat Albert was done. Now they're doing the Dukes of Hazzard. I believe even Bewitched is getting remade into a movie. Is it just me... or are movies becoming all remakes and stuff that we probably would of already known about if it interested us? I myself, don't really like all of these remakes and I would rather have fresh new ideas being made into stories. However, I guess it's easier to just throw millions of dollars into something like Batman where you know everyone would go and see it than to put that million into something that you don't know if it would be successful or not. CoplandVictim
You're not alone on this. The biggest release this year aside from Star Wars is King Kong.. re-make. If they made a law that you couldn't re-make old movies or shows, and adapt books and comics, Hollywood would go broke. God forbid they think up an original idea. And if they do happen to release something new, they bought it from someone else already made and release it through their 'Independent film' branch, and it gets a crappy release so no one actually gets to see it. jelly
I say let them finish doing their remakes and comic book movies so that we can have proper movies in a couple of years or so. Still, some of the remakes and comic book movies are good. I'll hire a mentally disturbed russian assassin if they intend to remake a clockwork orange though. it's untouchable. Kaoru
That's incredibly true. If they wouldn't have all of those remakes Hollywood would probably go broke. Even though Hollywood might buy movies off someone else, it's still something new. I'm sure that one guy on his own couldn't get a small movie to be shown everywhere so I don't really see anything wrong with them buying a movie off of something. Of course, as long as they don't rip that someone off.
SaltonSea123
It's an entertaining two hours seeing these digital effects extravaganzas, but the media gives them too much attention.

I have the Batman Beings commercial burnt into my brain. I swear I saw it at least twenty times a day - at the least.
Philtheonearmedbandit
Well hold on a moment here. I see where you're coming from but comic book movies are fine as long as the director and writer stay true to the source material (examples: Spider-Man, Batman Begins, The Punisher, and X-Men to some extent) unlike Catwoman, Hulk, and Daredevil. A lot of these movies are being made by people who haven't read the comics or watched the TV shows they just felt like making a movie (Uwe Boll did this with House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark) As for TV show remakes I totally agree. The only TV show remake I've liked was Dragnet. Another huge trend is remakes of 70's movies. The Toolbox Murders, Dawn of the Dead, Assault on Precinct 13, Flight of the Phoenix, The Aviator, they're working on The Fog and Evil Dead. But all of these have been good though so I guess I can't complain.
Brown Streak RR
I see your point. Yes, there have been many superhero movies as of late. And, yes, Spiderman is what started it all. I guess it's okay. Eventually they'll run out of comics. I mean, give me a break. 'The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl'? WTF? Yes. Yes. And yes. Re-makes are all over the place. Filmmaker's are too lazy for original ideas, and hope that a redo with today's technology will work just fine. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, King Kong... etc.. 70's movies are being redone, yes, but not as much as Comics and Re-Makes, in my opinion. Personally, I liked Flight of the Phoenix much better than the original. It was cool.
Goodfella.
Actually Blade started off the comic bonanzaa, but X-Men made the companies realise that superhero movies could still work. I have to say it doesn't bother me one bit, I've been a comic fan all my life so it's a true joy to see these things I grew up with make it to the big screen. Wolf68k
Y'all forgot the remakes of; Mission Impossible, Charlie's Angels, The Saint, The Advengers, Lost In Space, Starsky & Hutch Odd, I thought it was Superman (1978) that started off the comic book movie craze. Which kept alive by Batman (1989) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) and later revided by Spawn (1997), because Blade didn't come out until 1998
darthYENIK
I don't give a f*ck, if they are re-makes or comic book movies. If they entertain me, I like them. With these types of movies about 50% are good. And that figure seems to be rising.

If X-men had of bombed we wouldn't of had Spider-Man etc, Sony were waiting it out to see how X-Men did before they went into hardcore production. Super Rockin' Mr. Magic
Hollywood do need some new ideas I made atopic about re-makes quite a while back saying how p*ssed off I was about the re-make of The Italian Job as wel as many other films Some dirctors can pull off remakes but there is less than a handful that can while the rest use it to make as much money as they can. as for comic book movies its the same as teh remakes only a few directors actually care about making a movie for the fans of the comics rather than just coining a good story
