Chiliad - Haunted thread, and I realised that alot of people were peacefully posting stories and discussing them - regardless of their authenticity, even I thought it was a pretty interesting read. I've only just bought the game, so I'm looking forwards to going to that area of the game myself. Then I notice a bunch of '3xp3rts' coming in the thread, telling everyone to shut up, inciting flame wars, then getting the thread locked. Why? If you don't like what's being discussed, why do you continue to jump into threads where people are genuinely partaking in decent discussing, because YOU have a problem with it? Just because you lot have gone and circum-navigated the area 100 times doesn't mean you have to spoil it for other people who haven't done it yet. Let them play the game and find out for themselves, I'm sure they enjoy it. I think some people are arrogant and don't respect the interests of others on this forum. And this is not pointless spam... pointless spam doesn't consist of a valid argument being backed up by evidence, which is all I'm trying to do. Please feel free to discuss my thread... That's unexpected from a mod... You're implying that because someone takes an interest in the paranormal, in a GAME I might add (Which last time I checked, was pretty acceptable, there are ways to differ between reality and the gaming world), they're retarded? I think that's a stupid thing to say. That's what games are for. To entertain and give the player a sense of wonder and intrigue. Maybe believing on paranormal activities in reality is retarded, but in a game? If games were based on the real world, we wouldn't play them. Alot of it probably is untrue and unproveable. But where would be the fun in accepting that nothing 'strange' and 'unordinary' is going to happen. I might aswell just ignore the Badlands then, because I can rest assured that anything that happens there is the work of in-game glitches and stupid hysteria! But the point is, they like discussing it regardless of it being 'proved'. So what if there isn't any credible evidence to back-up what they say. Entertaining for them, nevertheless. Speaking as somone who went wandering around for an hour looking for bigfoot in the game and held out hope for finding a ringing telephone I feel I can give a non-biased opinion. No matter how sensible the conversation is, someone always goes over the top and looks for the most unlikely, implausible explaination for everything. People don't read full topics (or even full posts) and misunderstand or exagerate the facts until you've got posts claiming things that would never possibly exist. Then others hear these things and start hundreds of topics asking about these things or even claiming to have witnessed them. To the people who don't even consider some of these claims - You have to remember that this is a made-up world where anything is possible. R* like to keep it realistic, but also have a sense of humour and know that half the fun of GTA is exploring and seeing what you find. Now that we have so much countryside it would be a shame to not put interesting easter eggs in it. If I were designing San Andreas I wouldn't have put Bigfoot in, but I would have put some fun features like a footprint or distant animation of a shadowy large ape-like creature walking past (a bit like the distant ships in earier games). To those who believe everything is paranormal - Also remember that this is a made-up world. Not everything that doesn't exactly match reality means it's intentionally aliens or ghosts. The plane lights in the sky look like plane lights in the sky. But if you go close they are obviously glowing orbs and not planes at all. This doesn't mean that this is a sign of aliens, just that it's an easier way of giving the impression of distant planes for a programmer. Technically they were UFOs until R* stated that they were meant to be normal aircraft. Now they are identified, they are just 'FOs'. Likewise, if a ped spawns in a strange way it doesn't mean it was intended to be a ghost or something similar. Rockstar felt happy enough to include Area 69. But didn't want to go further and put aliens or spacecraft in there. I think the main reason people are rude to those that mention paranormal things is the same reason they are rude to those in any topic. The subject has been discussed endlessly and the questions all answered. If people used the search feature they wouldn't start the topic because they would know that it has been officially stated that nothing paranormal exists. People don't like the same subject coming up again and again and again... Personally I would have loved to find a ringing telephone box in the middle of nowehere. Not only would it be a reference to a completely non-paranormal real-world thing but it could also reference earlier games. You could answer it and El Burro's voice would say "Sorry, wrong number." edit: @ Zeppelin88 - since when has proof had anything to do with what people believe? And bigfoot actually hangs out at the burgershot in san fiero as a customer in the bathroom and his bullet is parked outside, and there are ufo's flying around at 26:00 flying over the northwest part of the ocean that takes an hour to reach. The obsessive, die-hard fans who act like that are also the ones who probably spent hours looking for these things before they found out that they didn't exist. They feel like fools and project their self-loathing on others who are interested in the same thing, even if they are only discussing it for fun and know that they are talking about game glitches and funny interpretations of game phenomena. They're also the type who are offended by those who believe differently than themselves...they feel that there is conclusive proof that there is no Bigfoot in the game, and they take it as a personal insult that some people think they might be wrong. Its a waste of space and therefore money. Yes, the forums are for discussion, but that doesn't mean that its for putting up whatever comes up in your head. If people really want to know the answer to a question, they would have looked for it to begin with. It is no secret that we want people to search first, look around. In the end, a lot of the reason people get ticked off is because people come in here with cheesey stories or photoshoped screenshots and mislead new members. That is something that, I think you can understand, is frowned upon also. As far as the "Flamewars" you mentioned, have you ever been in a "Warzone" topic. We're just givin' some tough love. But when the same topics are posted day after day for months on end, it gets ridiculous. Gamers come on here asking about bigfoot and UFOs. We tell them they're not real. Then Rockstar says they're not real. Even with the facts straightened out, people continue to persist with these wild assumptions and claims that there is some sort of crazy monster lurking in the Back O' Beyond. To someone just scooting by for a peak, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal, and it's pretty entertaining. But after watching the same topics grow and fester little more than spam and garbage over a 9 month period, the tolerance for these threads sinks like a rock. If you want to dance on the other side of the law while taking part in an engaging storyline that sprawls out over 3 cities and vast countryside, go ahead and play Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. However, if it's ghosts and ghoulies that you're after, go and play something else. Like Luigi's Mansion. Don't expect the lack of acceptance for Bigfoot topics to end any time soon.
