GTA-3-beta
Hello If I want to spawn cars and move my saved games to my PC, is this the only thing I need to buy then? http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=30008 And with the USB Flash Drive, is it possible to move the saved games to the PC, without have a chip in my PlayStation 2? GTA-3-beta
yup. Does the Action Replay MAX give the camera pictures better quality? I have a USB memory that work with GTA: San Andreas and my memory card, here is a picture I have taken: If I tranfer the pictures with Action Replay, does these pictures have better quality than this from my USB drive? stretch.
I wouldn't think so, seeing as they're stored in a different format methinks, and saves from the usb stick are normally automatically converted to a .max extension, and therefore there'd be a lot of work figuring out how to change them to work for the pc version. You'd be better d/ling a save game around the same level you got to for the pc. Hope it helps. As for your picture thing, I'd presume they'd be the same quality, as action replay as far as I know, doesn't "jazz" up the photos in any way. GTA-3-beta
If I have anderstand all this right, if I buy the Action Realpy MAX With USB Flash, I can spawn all cars, and move saved games with pictures to my computer? And the pictures I have taken with my USB stick have the same quality as these I get with Action Replay?

ChaosAlert
ARMax is the device that handles all the codes, so you can use 'spawn car' codes and such. MaxDrive is only needed if you want to transfer game saves, you can use a certain tool to open gave saves and look through the data that it contains. You can also get your SA pics too, by extracting the Gallery data files, and then opening them up within another tool that can handle them. CarpetDweller
This seem like a good time to ask this - I have a problem with trying to get pics from PS2 to PC. I only tried it a couple of time quite a while ago, but it seemed impossible. Hopefully I'm being a fool and missing something obvious. maybe someone can tell me what. I had the max drive in the PS2. I also had my 8mb memory card with my saved games on it. I used the AR max software to select the mem card and see what was on it. One of the thing on the mem card was the San Andreas saved games. I selected this and tried to copy this info to the maxdrive. [i can't remember the exact details as it was a while ago] I got a message saying something like "there is not enough room on the destination disc". Basically someing stating that there was too much data to copy. I also tried copying it to an empty 296mb pen drive and got the same message. Can someone help? This maybe pointless now as I recently spilled coke on to the blue side of the disc and didn't notice until the next day when it had dried hard. That will teach me not to put it back in the case. There have been problems when transferring save files that are of quite a 'large' size. Maybe 'crushing' the file and copying it may work.
CarpetDweller
How do you 'crush' a file while it's still on the PS2? How do other people manage. Do you try to copy the whole GTA:SA file or is there a way to select just the photos or a particular save? I thought one of the major selling points was the ability to keep copies of the save files. Can someone give me a quick step by step method that you use to transfer files to PC successfully. Because if other people can do it with the same equipment, I don't see why I can't - unless I'm doing it wrong.

CarpetDweller
Well I just called it a max drive because someone else did. That's the version I have (pal) and so I guess I meant flash drive.
ChaosAlert
How do you 'crush' a file while it's still on the PS2? No no, ARMax has a 'Crush' tool that reduces the size of the file, that may help... Screenshots take up 80kb each, this will add to the overall file size of the save, maybe only have a certian amount of images at a time will work as well. GTA-3-beta- Yes, that contains the MaxDrive. CarpetDweller
Thanks ChaosAlert - i guess it was just the file size after all. Once I tried again I realised that I had tried 'crush' before but had got the message "This file is too large to crush" and that's when I gave up last time. This time I copied my SA file to to another memory card so that I had a backup. Then deleted all except one gamesave file. Then deleted all photos, grabbed an in-game camera, took a pic, and saved. Tried the file crush/copy thing again and it was fine. Here's the result: Not amazing, but it was only a test. I'll take some more now I know I can use them. CarpetDweller
I'm no expert, but as said above I've got pretty muchthe same equipment that you're thinking of buying. So far I've only used it entering cheat codes and moving San Andreas photos to pc, but I can see there are other options in the software for gamesaves and stuff. I believe that as long as you get the correct region (pal or ntsc) then you will be fine. While we're on the subject - a lot of peope say that codebreaker is a bit better for the cheats. Does anyone know if it does the other AR Max features too?
