dertyjerzian
Are all image formats in SA the same? Are they mixed? Are all of the files tga? Forgive my gayness in not knowing, I just want to do the first thing I'm going to do, which is change the waterclear256 texture, and I don't know what kind of image formats to watch for, or how to see what kind they are before exporting in txdworkshop 3.
DexX
the format in GTA is txd. the program you use (txd workshop) converts from tga/bmp/whatever, to txd. If you have application that supports it, i strongly recommend TGA. plus PhotoShop doesnt save bitmaps (BMP) correctly. if you have to use something like mspaint, where bmp is your only choice, well, yea. dertyjerzian
Well then, what are the advantages of the targa format over BMP. I indeed have photoshop, and personally hate the work it takes to make a decent bitmap as well. I used ms paint, just to do a quick waterclear256 change, looks nice. But if the targa will be better...
DexX
in the case of txd workshop, it cant read bitmap images from photshop; plus PhotoShop doesnt save bitmaps (BMP) correctly. So you would have to take the bitmap you saved in photoshop, open it in mspaint, and re-save it, to get it to load in txd workshop. tga will work perfectly in txd workshop. as far as im concerned thats the only difference that matters, less work, same quality, 'nuff said. Gtazzer
TGA is much better then BMP for editing... I will never do BMP again as I have had to many problems with them. I have edited tonnes of stuff already for SA and with Photoshop, TXD Workshop 3.5 and Image Tool 2.0. Great stuff. Would post pics but no image hosting knowledge. Duble0Syx
When using Photoshop just save the bmp as OS/2 format instead of windows and it will be fine. I do agree that tga is better, but that way you can use bmp also.
