New Crash Problem

I just purchased GTA: San Andreas, installed it succesfully and started a new game, after changing the settings - i can watch the intro for a while and then my PC reboots. It's not always the same point: sometimes at the airport, sometimes with the taxi and sometimes with the cops - but always in the movie. If I skip it and directly enter the game, I won't stay there for more than 30 seconds. The wierd thing about this is, that there is no error message, no blue screen an not even the registry tells me anything about it. I tried the "insane" crah-fix and several NoCD-Patches, but they didn't change anything. I also played a little with the graphic-drivers, but it stayed the same. Turned off Anti-Virus-Tool, nothing's changed

 

My Specs are:

Win XP

P4HT 2.6GHz

GeForce 6800LE, 128Mb

1GB RAM

AC'97

and not an NForce Board

 

This is a huge problem, but it does not really fit to the other posts.

Hope you might give me a solution, 'cause I think Rockstars won't be able to fix this!

try to update your AC97 driver !

the realtek driver is here realtek.com.tw

Well I can only update a Realtek product with a Realtek driver, but mine is made by C-media and that one is the newest.

I can't imagine that a game crashes just because the soundcard does not support a few effects ?!

I had the same problem, but mine usually restarted 15 minutes-1 hour into the game.

 

Open up the Start Menu, click Run. Type in dxdiag and click Ok. Go to the sound tab, turn DirectX Hardware Accelleration to Basic Acceleration. Try that.
