Opening up new game features by doing missions

I know there are many, MANY big features of San Andreas, but I'm at the very beginning. So to unlock lots of these features.. like going to the gym, bowling, pool, getting a girlfriend, starting gang wars, etc, do you have to complete a few missions first to get these going?

yes- when you do your first missions in los Santos the features will open up more and more. Like pretty much at the beginning you are told to get new cloths, a new haircut or go to the Gym.

 

Other features will be opened up later.

Gym - This is opened up after the mission Drive-Thru in the early missions of the game.

Bowling - This is not in the game.

Pool - This is opened up from the beginning.

Getting a girlfriend - To get your first girlfriend, you must be nearing the end of the missions in Los Santos. Specifically, 'Burning Desire'.

Starting gang wars - This is also near the end of the game. Gang wars are introduced during the mission 'Doberman'.

Yeah, and before you can go flying plane's 'story line wise' you'd have to be at the Torino mission. But using the jumping over the airport fence trick you can fly them bastard's much earlier
