maf
intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 512MB DDR333 (PC2700) WinFast A340 T GeForce FX 5200 128MB DDR [Forceware 71.89] Pioneer 16x DVD-106S Creative Sound Blaster Live! TDK MP100 Headphones/Creative PC Works Speakers Windows XP SP1 === I've read a couple of recommendations about going back to older nVIDIA display drivers, and I downloaded the older 56.72 to try. On my card I got ped graphics corruption with those. Next I got the latest 77.72 ones. They caused corruption in the R* title sequence. So I've gone back to the 71.89 drivers I've been using for a while now and haven't had a problem with those. It's a bit of a lottery, and I guess it depends on what card you have and what make it is, etc.
mattstone_2000
My advice would be to use the optimized Omega drivers. They give me the best performance.
ThetheoryX
My advice would be to use the optimized Omega drivers. They give me the best performance. How do you find the Omega optimized drivers? I know thats a dumb question, and probably could be found on google...just curious. Currently I`m using 71.89 and they work fine for me...No probs, but if I could squeeze better performance out of my card by all means post the links lol.. I've heard a few horror stories about them on some PCs.

fica10
Its not a draw distance limit when i install nVidia driver 56.72 black roads gone but then i have problem with invisible peds
mikeswi
I'm using the standard Nvidia drivers for Windows 7.1.8.4 NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 1 gig ddr RAM Athlon XP 2400 I have to turn SFX to low and turned off antialiasing and I'm playing at 1280 x 1024 x 32 with the frame limiter off. I haven't had any problems after doing that. I'm getting a framerate of about 45 fps. Before turning off antialiasing, sand and rainstorms bogged me down badly. I still get about 1/3 normal framerate when on the strip in Las Venturas. All the torches I think.

I didn't notice the black roads going away though when I installed the 56.72 drivers, only the ped corruption. I'm going to try those Xtreme drivers next, see what they're like. Otherwise I'll stick with 71.89 and good performance at 1024x768, 32 bit. Edited June 25, 2005 by maf

You can find them here: http://www.omegadrivers.net/ Just follow the instructions, and you'll eventually be given a choice of installing the 'quality' drivers or the 'performance' drivers. I think I've got the performance ones.

Where can I get Extreme G??? I'm gonna wait for a patch, because I really don't want to go through the hassle of uninstalling DX9.0c and putting 9.0b on. See what R* does, if anything. Those Xtreme G drivers are over at Guru3D - Xtreme G 77.13; there's a HD (High Detail) version - Xtreme G HD, but there's no description for the exact difference between the two (are the first lot Low Detail?). I think my GF 5200 is working its a$$ off running San Andreas as it is, so I don't expect to get much better results (more than a frame or two) by switching drivers. Patch please, R*
