Philtheonearmedbandit
I searched and didn't find anything that this was a duplicate of... Anyway I was just thinking I would like to find some cult classics that I'd like because they are usually the best movies and in turn I'd relay some of them to you... The Evil Dead - Classic horror at its greatest a must see. Evil Dead 2 - One of the goriest and darkest comedies ever. This one belongs in your collection. Army of Darkness - The hero from Evil Dead goes back to Medieval Europe to battle the Evil Dead. Hilarious, lots of slapstick humor. UHF - Weird Al Yankovic plays this guy who gets this run down old UHF TV station. Running idiotic shows like Wheel of Fish and other things like that. Michael Richards plays a janitor who basically saves the station, lots of movie parodies and a hilarious comedy all together. Buy this if you see it, I beg you. El Mariachi - The Prequel to Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. It's all in Spanish with subtitles and it's fairly low budget but it's still a great movie. I'm Gonna Git You Sucka - Picture Naked Gun meets Boyz in Da Hood. It was directed and starring Keenan Ivory Wayans (The director of Scary Movie and Don't Be a Menace to South Central) Also features Damon Wayans, Isaac Hayes, and pretty much every other black actor from that time frame. From Dusk Till Dawn - George Clooney, Quentin Tarentino, Harvey Keitel, Tom Savini, and Juliette Lewis in a vampire movie directed by Quentin Tarintino and Robert Rodriguez. My very favorite vampire movie because it takes away that stereotype of vampires being aristocratic assholes and brings them back to their roots of just being really cool monsters. Bubba Ho-Tep - Bruce Campbell is Elvis, apparently long ago Elvis switched with one of his impersonators and ended up breaking a hip, he ends up in a nursing home and the only man who believes him is this crazy old black guy who thinks he's JFK played by Ossie Davis. Anyway Elvis and JFK team up to fight this mummy dressed in cowboy duds who's sucking the souls out of the residents of the nursing home. Awesome horror movie, not ground breaking, but you'll love it. Anyway post your favorites and if I haven't seen them I'll do my best to find them and watch them and tell you what I think. gta_king
Rocky Horror Picture Show :: Just what was Richard O Brian on when he wrote this? He said that one day it all just came to him, well if the content of this film ever came to me one day i'd have considered seeing someone. That said the film is sheer brilliant, the music is catchy and its utter hilarious, its his tribute to horror/sci fi B-Movies featuring a "Sweet Transvestite" named Dr Frank N Furter from the planet Transylvania in the Galaxy of Transexual. The film marks the screen debut of Meat Loaf and is completely over the top and hilarious. Really fun to watch and sticks in your head for a while. Philtheonearmedbandit
I have seen Rocky Horror and I kind of enjoyed it. I'm never crazy about anything involving transvestites, but the songs were so damn catchy. As for Romper Stomper I think I've heard of it. What was it about? Philtheonearmedbandit
Captain RonClifford Batteries Not Included Cocoon Short Circuit 3 Men and a Baby The Burbs I have seen all seven of those, I really liked Captain Ron, a true classic. Clifford not as much... it was... different. Batteries Not Included was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. Cocoon was not one of my favorites, I actually thought it was kind of boring. Short Circuit was great and I loved it. It's not on TV very much, I'd like to see it again. 3 Men and a Baby was pretty good, not one of my favorites but definately funny. The Burbs was my favorite one on this list. I watch it every time it comes on. Also if I see Romper Stomper on TV or at a store or something I'll be sure to watch it. darthYENIK
Romero's of the dead series-These zombie movies are the first, and best. Commando-One of Arnold Schwarzenegger's best. Heavyweights-Good Kids movie with a moral Encino Man-I don't care what you say, paulie shore is a genious. Other then that, it's a good story, with the moral, that popularity isn't as important as friends. The Thing-Great suspense, and gore. Lethal Weapon series-Action and comedy, both great. Detroit Rock City-This movie reminds me of my friends and me. Pee Wee's Big Adventure-Both Pee Wee Herman, and Tim Burton make this movie one that you have to see multiple times to catch everything. .Sonny.
I'm a huge fan of Robocop and Terminator. I also like The Breakfast Club, but I'm not sure if it could be considered a "cult classic".
Philtheonearmedbandit
Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army Of Darkness: Own all three, my most prized DVDs. Tremors, Tremors II, Tremors 4: Own all four, hope they come out with season one of the series on DVD soon. Bad Taste: Never seen it, heard it's good. Ticks,Mosqueto: I'm not a fan of animal themed horror movies period but I really didn't like these. Though the scene in Mosquito with the chainsaw was cool. Dead Alive: I want to see this movie so bad but I can never find it at Best Buy or any other movie stores. From Dusk Till Dawn: Best vampire movie ever. Shame the sequels sucked so much. Desperado: Kind of boring but still a classic. Mallrats: Loved it, second only to Dogma. Clerks: Hated it, people talk so much about this movie. I couldn't stay awake through this movie. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: Never seen it, heard it wasn't a bad movie though. Eraserhead: Never even heard of it. Pi: Faith in Chaos: Never even heard of it. The Road Warrior: Best movie in the Mad Max Trilogy. Oldboy: Never heard of it. Shaun of the Dead (Though it's growing more mainstream by the day): My favorite zombie movie. Mirrormask: Never heard of it. The Dark Crystal: Never heard of it. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: "We can't stop here... this is bat country." Dune: Kind of dated but still a classic. I liked the SciFi miniseries better. Heavyweights-I loved this movie when I was a kid. Ben Stiller was hilarious. Encino Man- This movie... was so... stupid. It made Bio Dome and Jury Duty look like intelligent films. The only Paulie Shore film I liked was Son in Law. The Thing- Oh this movie is great. I wish they would remake it (again) with today's technology or at least make a sequel. Commando,Lethal Weapon series, Die Hard: These are not cult movies. They're pretty mainstream. Detroit Rock City-One of the better films of this style. Liked it but I'm not a huge Kiss fan. Pee Wee's Big Adventure- I liked this movie when I was a kid, not a huge fan of it now. The Goonies - Great movie. Shame they never made a sequel. DeathRace 2000 - Never heard of it. Robocop - I wish they'd make a fourth one, or Robocop vs. Terminator. Blade Runner - One of the better futuristic Sci-Fi films. Brazil - Never heard of it. BTTF - Never heard of it. The Toxic Avenger - The only Troma Film I hate more than this on is Killer Condoms. If I want to see a deformed superhero I'll watch Darkman.

MsNobody
I have seen Rocky Horror and I kind of enjoyed it. I'm never crazy about anything involving transvestites, but the songs were so damn catchy. As for Romper Stomper I think I've heard of it. What was it about? That's a horror movie? I thought the whole thing was just about transvestites dancing. How about Harry and The Hendersons? It's not exactly scary but it is about a Big Foot. I used to love that movie when I was a kid until my cousin broke the tape. Or what about Beetlejuice? Again, it wasn't really scary but I guess it could be classified as a horror movie.

The_Real_Deal
Some the flicks people are mentioning are too popular to be cult classics. RoboCop and Terminator? Come on, use you imagination. Here are a few ... * Eating Raoul (1982) - Paul and Mary Bland are a conservative L.A. couple who dream of opening their own restaurant, but they don't have the money. So they come up with an ingenious plan to get the cash by taking advantage of all the perverted swingers from the valley. This movie is one of my favorites! * Faster Pussy Cat! Kill! Kill! (1965) - It doesn't get much more camp than this. Classic big breasted broads on a mission flick from Russ Meyer. Follow Varla, Rosie, and Billie, three rough and tumble racer girls as they escape their wrong doing through the California desert. Every cult flick lover has to see this one, great music too! * Kentucky Fried Movie (1977) - This is like a long movie full of skits from director John Landis, and they're funny as hell. If you love campy and "tasteless" humor. you'll like this one. Features some familiar faces of the time period.
Philtheonearmedbandit
I saw a great indie film tonight called Versus, basically these two prisoners escape to meet the Yakuza at a meeting spot. Things go awry and one of the Yakuza gets killed and comes back as a zombie, basically the movie is John Woo meets George Romero. It's pretty cool and a definate buy if you can find it. xstevex
Versus was kick ass, especially the last fight scene. I'll add a few more great indie films to the list. American Psycho Guinea Pig The Beyond Cannibal the Musical Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter Bad Taste Ichi the Killer Irreversable Dead Alive Man Bites Dog Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer Audition Eyes Without a Face Eraserhead Metropolis Shallow Grave Battle Royale Evil Dead Series
Philtheonearmedbandit
I loved how Versus was intentionally lame in parts. Like the two FBI agents were such dorks and how whenever he got in a fight he always punched out the girl. What I didn't like is that not one single character in the movie had a name, I guess you got the main character's convict number but that was it. I also liked that crazy Yakuza guy with the knives. Smashdamit
I would recommend Death Race 2000 as well. Its cheap. Its funny. Its gory. Its classic. David Carridine and one of the 1st appearances by a young Sly Stallone. American Phsyco is a great and strange film as mentioned.Quite strange actually.Funny in parts oddly enough. My favs: The Halloween Series(especially the first one-awesome movie) and Romero's original xxxx of the Dead trilogy."The Man" when it comes to Zombies...although I admit I kinda enjoyed the remake of Dawn of the Dead a tad more than the original.
