memento27oasis
I keep hearing that it's lame/dorky/nerdy/stupid/poserish/ to wear clothing with bands names while at that band's concert. Look, If I was playing guitar in a band and I looked into the crowd and saw hundreds of people screaming/jumping/singing with my band's name on their shirt, that would be cool. Why does everyone think it's a fau pax to wear the bands clothing? It shows dedication to that band. Not nerdy at all! WTF? Put your mind in the shoes of a band and see kids out there with your band name sported on their shirts, it's a cool thought, right? meh, whatever. Bigs
I've never heard that it's lame to wear a band's t-shirt at their gigs. Especially if you get lucky and get an autography, why would you want them to sign a random white T?
JulioCaesar
I remember way back seeing a Wayne's world skit on SNL on how wearing a t-shirt of the band your going to see at a concert is the absolute worst thing you could do at a concert. The reason it can be looked at as a bad thing is because yes, some people are trying to look cool by sporting some of the bands clothing at their concert, thus making them much more of a poser. Its best to just buy the clothing at put it away at a concert rather than to just wear it on the spot. Buying a t-shirt and then wearing it at a concert, to me, just doesn't seem right, which invertely is making me truthfully think that my views are bent, but still...I honestly can't come up with a good reason. Guglielminpietro
Hmm, depends really. I guess the point of wearing a band name shirt, is to advertise the fact that you like that band. But if you're stood at their gig, it's pretty obvious that you like them, so wearing the t-shirt insults everyone else's intelligence. Maybe. soundcloud.com/TheDamnFineCoats
Tongue of Colicab
I've never heard that. Whenever I go to a concert I wear a shirt from that band. I went to a Metallica concert just recently and I wore a 12-year old Metallica shirt. I also bought one, but didn't wear it till later. Even if it is 'nerdy' or whatever, I'm not gonna stop just because some jerk says its lame. Because stopping when told to would seem poserish to me. <<dancing is forbidden>>
Hard Margin
What is with these stupid social guidlelines? Go ahead and wear what you want.
immessedup17
I have NEVER worn a band or artist shirt, EVER. I don't really have band apparel...
Dr. Doom
I don't own any, but I wouldn't mind showing the love for some bands that I like. The Beatles, some of their psychedelic imagery (from when they were on acid) would make good t-shirt graphics. And Pink Floyd album covers would look cool. cool enough to wear, yes i think so. .Sonny.
I've been to about 20+ concerts and its pretty common to see people sporting a t-shirt of the band playing. The only not-so-good thing you can do clothingwise at a concert is buying a shirt and then putting it right on because you're guaranteed to run into atleast 50 other kids wearing it. Wolfwood
As long as your not wearing a Cheeky Girls t-shirt, I am sure it is fine. I have never heard any of that stupid stuf before, so don't take offence to such a lame speech. It came from a guy living in Dublin who couldn't afford a Nivarna shirt. SaltonSea123
I've heard of this too, mostly from people 25 years old and older. Must've been something they experienced as youth.
Wolf68k
"What's this? You're wearing the shirt of the band you're going to see? Don't be that guy." - Droz (Jeremy Piven) in PCU (1994) I use to wear a plain t-shirt, didn't matter what was on it but best if it was thin, this is when I planned to buy a band concert t-shirt when I got there which I would then put on over my current t-shirt to keep from getting it stolen...which I've seen happen. Yeah, that's another point. If you've bought the t-shirt at that gig, I find it's easier to then put it on instead of having to carry it. There may never be a conclusive answer to this. soundcloud.com/TheDamnFineCoats
