Race Tournaments

Now.. the Brady Games strategy guide for GTA:SA says that I need to complete the "Deconstruction" mission in San Fierro and the Driving School tests/missions as well to receive a phone call alerting CJ to the street-racing tournaments all over San Andreas.

 

I never got this phone call and I do not see the supposed racing flag mission markers appearing on the map anywhere even though I have finished both those prerequisites.

 

Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?

 

 

And if the game is bugged.. well.. can anyone direct me to a saved game file that has paramedic, firetruck, pimping, bmx challenge, LS/SF Courier, 100 tags, 8-track, burglar, taxi driver, freight train missions done?

 

 

 

If it isn't obvious, I'm playing on PC

Getting the bad feeling that no one can help me with this, I know the save game that I would request is rather daunting... but....

Did you ever get that phone call? I am in the same boat as you. Completed "Deconstruction" and got bronze or better on all driving school tests. Have been running around for a few days (game time) with no phone call regarding the race tournaments.

 

Is the Brady Guide just wrong and there's something else that needs to be completed before these open up?

 

Any tips would be appreciated.

I've hit this bug too. I've now completed all of the San Fierro missions and nearly every side mission up to that point, and the racing tournaments are still not available to me.

 

BTW: Have gold in all driving school challenges, never cheated, and the game has otherwise run fairly flawlessly on my system (have had the very occassional crash to desktop and sound desynch problems, but they're rare and usually after several hours of play).

 

Anyone else ever seen this? More importantly, is there a fix???

Hey guys,

 

You probably figured this out already. I think the guide is wrong on this. You need to complete driving school and pilot school to unlock the racing missions.

 

Every single FAQ I've read for the game (and I think I've looked at most of them) agree with the guide, so either they are just taking the guide's word for it, or this was changed in the PC version (from what it was in the PS version). I found *one* thread in all of my hunting suggesting that the pilot school missions also needed to be completed, and I hope it's right
