DAVEY007
It seems that alot of cars have been very, very underestimated. For example the Ford Maverick Grabber. This car was a real sporty little car. It had a specail hood, and a big 302 V-8 from fords big sedans. And if you got on with a stick it would be the unltimate fun vehicle, but Ford never sold very man, because they weren't proven to be cool. Anyway, post some underdog cars, and explain why they were underdogs. SIP YEK NOD
The 67-69 mercury cougar. most people thought "a mercury muscle car? psh". this was a small car, once again, with a ford V8. the things were light and very powerful, but nobody wanted them. you could get the 1968 mercury cougar with a 390hp ford 427. they had enough power and torque to actually bend their frame, but nobody cared, because it was a mercury and "mercury couldnt make muscle cars". DAVEY007
Right, thats a good one. I got another. How about the Mustang II. Everyone thought of them as a "Grandma's Car", but you could get some serios power out of the car. I mean, the Cobra II was a speedy little car...~DAVEY007

DAVEY007
Yeah, but thats what makes um underdogs...to me at least. Anyway, this is what I want to do. I want to make the fastest, stock looking Ford Pinto ever. Than I roll up to the dragstrip, and there like, "Dude whats with the gay pinto? Did you jack it from your grandma?" And then I just tottaly smoke em'.~DAVEY007

I dont think all of the tarus's(SP) are underdogs. The SHO's are though...in my book.~DAVEY007
Mercedes-Benz
Camrys. I raced a I-4 Camry with my old diesel Benz and I lost. Those f*cking cars are nuts man.
GTA3Freak-2001
I'd say the Holden Barina/Opel Corsa is a underdog, pretty gutless engine but boy can they be extremly zippy on level ground and the usual suburban and city areas. Just keep it away from highways as it tends to drop its guts pretty quickly as is expected with a 1.3 litre 4 Cylinder from Opel
The-King
1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, an amazingly fast car, actually proved as the best muscle car of all time, but for some reason people tend to overlook it, probably because of it's limited production. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|

kevin2006rhs
The Ford 429 Hemispherical engine ended up being more successfull than the Boss 429 Mustang itself. The engine spread like wildfire in the dragracing circut. But in the end it was never able to beat out the 426 hemi.
Touge
Underdogs...... You can get this car called a Mitsubishi Chariot (Nimbus in other markets) It's like a people-mover but a bit lower and more car-like, sort of a taller bigger station wagon. Anyway, imagine a 5-door family wagon.....but with a 5-speed AWD engine and driveline and a 4G63B turbo!!! Or if you like, an Eclipse GSX with 5 doors and alot of space. You could also get a 3-door version called the RVR which had the same de-tuned Evo driveline. The coolest car of this family though was the RVR Hyper Sports Gear R....which was basically the same as the others but it had Recaro seats, a front-mount intercooler, TDO5-16G turbo, and bigger injectors. seen a few of these as well as the Chariot versions run into the 13's with only light modifications. They squat like mad when they launch hard too. also, the Daihatsu Charade GT-ti.....998cc and 3 cylinder's worth of front-wheel drive fury!!! http://bst.jp/machine/images/charade_00.jpg Yeah it doesn't look like much, Hell it even sounds like less, but these are definitely one of those underestimated little cars. They're light as anything and those little engine's can take high boost levels and make a sh*tload of power. There's currently one for sale on a website thats running 18 psi on it's factory forged internals. Because they're so nimble they'll out-handle nearly everything too. There are examples getting around that'll cane Evo's and WRX's on a racetrack. And they're only lightly-modded streetcars with bigger turbos, intercooler etc. Good thing is, They're also cheap to get power out of because what may seem small on a normal-sized performance car, will probably be huge when used on a car like this so people often utilise surplus factory parts from other cars on them.
