San Fierro/Las Venturas - Visiting with 4 Stars!

Did you visit San Fierro or Las Venturas before the game opened them? And if so what did you do there?

 

I had most of the oysters but I decided to go for all 50 before Las Venturas was officially open. It was funny trying to get the last few whilst being hammered by the police. I was going to try for the horseshoes as well but it was just too much.

 

I also went into the no fly zone with the Sparrow to collect the M4.

When it first came out on PS2 I tried my damndest to explore every foot of the map with 4 stars. I think I took the Shaman jet first to reveal it all on the map...some of the missiles are avoidable at first but there gets to be too many of them. I usually parachute and get in a truck to do the rest of the exploring.

 

It was pretty fun, I might go do that as soon as I get home actually.

I explored San Fierro before the time came once.

 

And tried a few times in a cheat Hunter. I failed, one of the missiles eventually getting me :|

 

However, I once succeeded. Kind of. I swam over the river under the short bridge on the west side of Los Santos, grabbed a very heavy truck (I was a lucky bastard), and ran for it while the police banged the wall I was headfirst. They hardly put a scratch on the truck (not a Linerunner or Tanker. I should find it sometime and show the screenie), and I drove around most of San Fierro. At some point, the truck flipped due to my mistake. I jumped and ran for it. Tried to swim and grab a boat, and the godsdamnchopper wasted me.

 

It was very satisfying though, the police didn't bust me for a long time.

If you're going to cheat, use the "infinite health" and "crash n boom" cheats. If you don't want to cheat, try making it to the aircraft carrier. I don't know if there's any hydras there in the beginning, but if there is, you can decoy the missiles with flares.

 

Hmmm... maybe I'll start a new game to see if that hydra is there in the beginning.....

a good cheat to use is the "flying cars" one, because once you start to fly the police AI doesnt register that you arent on the ground, so they still just send squad cars after you None of those pesky missiles either. You can fly around for as long as you want really, then land and drive slowly then take off when it gets too hot.

I noticed on the ps2, after grabbing the train, jumpin thru the barriers on the bridge to the next island, that if you uncover a good portion of the map, it'll reveal the full thing. So when I started my game on PC, before I did anything, I grabbed a shamal and flew it north to las venturas and flew around dodging any missles. I did get hit by one missile while uncovering all of Las Venturas and the bad lands outside of it and all the way to the west by Grant Bridge. Then I made a few passes at downtown and then the bad lands around Angel Pine and Flint County... then, like Knightmare said... I found myself with 5 red arrows on my radar and I was running out of room to do evasive maneuvers as this point I was at Mt Chilliad.

 

I pulled up as steep as I could go and got past the top of the mountain... I rolled over and took a dive to dodge the missiles and realized I had no more room. I hit enter just as my plane scrapes the side of the mountain (like landing w/o gear) and bail out. I thought I was gunna see Wasted written up... but after all the pyrotechnics were finished, I was standing 50 ft from the plane (already on fire from scraping the mountain) was struck by two missles. It was quite an explosion... I turned and ran up the mountain side with my 4 stars, grabbed the mountain bike and took off.

 

At this time I realized that I'm going to be getting bombarded by Rancher Police and I have only the cycling skill from the beginning of the game. I some how manage to get down the mountain alive, unharmed and on my bike. I ride past the junk yard, over the bridge and straight to the S curve road. I did grow concerned for my stamina, but luckily it did not effect me any. I rode the bike half way up the hill to the Cropduster and ran the rest of the way. I knew if I could fly the Cropduster back to los santos, that I could ditch the four stars and save my full map and pilot's license.

 

Just as I take off, I'm nailed by a missle and there's more on the way. I flew the bird over to grove street, bailed out in the sky and 007'd down to the Johnson house where I saved and celebrated victoriously.

I also noticed this when flying over Las Venturas. If I flew low enough to see squad cars, swat trucks and cops on bikes... then I never saw a hydra or missles.
