What exactly is the story behind the Green Sabre?

I read somewhere the car had something to do with CJ's mother getting killed. But it's green like the Grove Street gang colors. So what's the story there? Where'd they take it when they moved it? Is it mentioned somewhere before that point in the game? I must've missed it if it was.

Sweet talks about it a little bit during one of the first missions: "Drive-Thru."

 

Frankly, I think R* did a pathetic job properly setting up this part of the backstory, but basically, someone did a drive-by shooting in that green sabre, and CJ's mom was inadvertantly caught in the crossfire.

 

There's another mission later that goes a little bit more into it, but I won't spoil it for you.

You have to really pay attention to get the gist of it. Also, there was that pre-movie that came with the soundtrack (I think it was the soundtrack...) which set up the story a whole lot better.

Well, no offense then, but the last LS mission, "The Green Sabre," pretty much sums it up. Considering the entire mission is exclusively about the Green sabre, hence its title, I don't know how you couldn't have "missed it."

 

Edit: The last "part 1" LS mission I mean, not the last LS mission at the end of the game.

Sums up what? All it shows is the Ballas with Ryder, Smoke, and Tenpenny. They takes the Green Sabre out of there. Was there something about it in Sweet's speech? Maybe I accidenlty skipped a scene.

Do a search for "The Green Sabre (MISSION)" and reread it.

 

Like I said, I think R* did a pathetic job of tying everything together, but as Knightmare alluded to (maybe unintentional), perhaps this was for marketing reasons, i.e., to compel you to buy the soundtrack.

 

My interpretation of the whole thing was that Tenpenny had gotten Big Smoke and Ryder to betray the Grove by getting them to work with the Ballas in getting the Grove hooked on crack. The "drive by" was first thought of as just a typical tactic used by rival gangs when taking over another gang's territory, but in this mission, CJ learned that it was Big Smoke and Ryder who performed the drive-by.

 

Well, that's my take on it. Admittedly, it's all subject to debate and speculation.

Ok so some one did a drive by in the Green Sabre and CJ's mom was caught in the crossfire and later you find out that Big Smoke and Ryder did the drive by. Right?

I still don't understand why the Forellis were so pissed off at me for taking a damn car. These GTA games never really make any sense.
