Slightly different running problem

Recommended Posts

I bought san andreas yesterday, and it installed without any problem. However, when i click on the icon i get a spinning disc icon and then nothing. I spent an hour on the phone to technical support and they got me to:

1) restart comp without extraneous programs (using msconfig)

Fail

2) change shortcut icon compatibility to win2000

Fail

3) reinstall direct X completely

Fail

there were other things i forget, all resulting in no result.

The only possible thing that could be wrong is that when i run dxdiag i get "do you wish to override DirectInput? Last time this program was run a problem occured."

If i select "No", dxdiag closes.

System Specs:

Brand name/model: World Of Computers - Specification at bottom

Processor: Pentium 4 3.4GHz

CD-ROM Drive: SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM-352F

Total system RAM: 2046mb RAM

GFX Card: ATI Technologies - Radeon X600 series - 256mb RAM

Sound Card: Realtek HD Audio rear output (onboard sound included on P4-3400 chip)

Mouse: Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse - Automatically installed by WinXP

DirectX: running DirectX v.9c

There is no settings file that i hear should be created in my documents at startup - possibly indicating that there is something very very basic that is failing?

Could this be linked to the DirectInput faliure?

Any help would be extremely welcome - I wanna play! lol.

Cheers, Wulf

Hey i was reading the other topics with similar probs and one of them worked for me!

1) Enable the "Guest" logon

2)Press shift and right click on the .exe file, and run as "Guest"

worked for me!
