You will reach the polygon limit of the game's engine long before you put in very much. You're talking about getting people to design a game area tens of thousands of times larger than that, and to have people design different areas separately and hope they seemlessly knit together where they meet? Also, good luck fitting a 3 million square mile game area are on a DVD (nevermind adding Sibera, Iraq, Iran etc). I think you'll have to buy yourself a server farm to store it. KM.
