Wing Attack
I've recently acquired a taste for reggae. The problem is, I don't know where to look for a good song. I liked most of the songs on K-Jah in San Andreas. I don't particularly like the slower reggae, I'm more of a fan for the fast paced sh*te. Some songs I've fancied lately are Pass The Dutchie by Musical Youth, I Thank You Jah and Heights of Great Men, both by Beenie Man, Sweat by Inner Circle, Chase The Devil by Max Romeo etc. Any Reggae enthusiasts that can make some suggestions as to what I should start listening to? And, so this doesn't just end up a lame "omg give me songs lol", we'll also make this The Official Reggae Discussion Topic, because reggae is such a popular genre. EmSixTeen
Word from the wise: Get Madlib's Blunted in the Bomb Shelter Mix, and Scientists - Scientist Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires albums. If you played GTA3 you should know the latter. Zunguzunguguguzunguzeng...

Wing Attack
I've heard a fair bit of Bob Marley, but I'm not really a big fan. Don't know why. I suppose I Shot The Sherrif is alright though.
OH NO
I've heard a fair bit of Bob Marley, but I'm not really a big fan. Don't know why. I suppose I Shot The Sherrif is alright though. You are mental. Anyway, look out for artists like Yellowman, Eek A Mouse, Cocoa Tea, General T.K, Tanya Stevens, Lady Saw, Dennis Brown, Freddy McGregor, Gregory Issacs.... loads more i cant think of at the moment. For Compilation albums, look out for any of the Greensleeves, Sampler, Dynamite 100%/200% etc and some of my own personal favourites are the Stonelove sound selectors. And seek out some good Bob Marley, seriously.
Fuzzknuckles
Reggae eh? Get yourself some Max Romeo, Horace Andy, Steel Pulse, Prince Far-I, Toots & The Maytals. Any of those will give you some good b-lines and skanking oppurtunities. Signatures are dumb anyway.

King Kapone
Reggaeton is garbage. Some whiny ass motherf*cker "sings" over this generic spanish evolved-from-salsa beat. Dun-da-dun-dun-da-dun. And what's worse, 99% of all reggaeton tracks sound exactly the same.

You live in Albany so I doubt you have to hear this sh*t 100x a day. Each time it's some puny 17 year old in a Civic driving with the fake spinning rims where the spinner is on the outside. He is so right. There is a hispanic neighborhood very close to where I live, and yeah, you always hear reggaeton going. And, yes, it all sucks. Pretty badly. Took me a while to appreciate but it was worth perservering. Definitely an aquired taste. Lee Scratch Perrys "Kojak", is the greatest dub tune ever in life. 8ballsoffire
there are far too many bands and artists to name since a sh*tload of early ska and reggae was just brought out on singles so most artists only ever released a couple of songs. get some trojan compilations, usually some good stuff on there. the skatalites were a good band, i don't know if it's there version of pheonix city i've got but roland alphonso play on it and it's one of the greatest songs ever. you shou8ld check out some british 2-tone bands. after that the amount of good reggae got a lot lower. jimmy.
I just heard this song by Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley called Welcome To Jamrock. That song is quality. Yes, it is. Has anyone ever listened to the album Dub Side of the Moon by the Easy Star All-Stars? It's one of my favorite reggae albums. It covers Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and gives the songs a really chilled out, reggae feel that fits pretty well. I can't say it's better than the original (not much is), but it's up there. ChibiMAK
Who doesn't have Dub Side of the Moon. I just listened to Willie Nelson's new CD, Countryman, it's pretty great if you like both raggae and country like I do. King Tubby is also good.
