Here is my specs:

 

 

2.0 GHZ Intel Celeron

GeForce 3 MX/440

768 MB Ram

Windows XP

 

and its running slow even with settings all the way down and on 16 bit

 

any suggestions?

I'm using an Athlon XP Barton [2oo x 9], 1GB DDRam 4oo Dual channel, 6600GT [default], Win XP, game runs at 1280 x 1024 x 32 - NEVER goes under 80fps no matter what I do... So, the game is optimised pretty well...

 

Your first problem is the CPU. The math coprocessor is on the same level as an old P3 @ 1GHz, and the game does a lot of math intensive calculations... Second, could be your motherboard [which I guess is based on the old i845 which is not that good]. Third, your vid card; even if the game doesn't really use DirectX 9, it needs raw power.

 

I've tested the game on my second machine [Athlon XP T-Bred [166 x 10], 512MB DDR333 Single Channel, MX440 64MB / 64bit, - the game runs perfect at 1024 x 768 x 32 [over 60fps], so i'm guessing your problem is mainly the CPU.

 

 

 

You can try this: unload every trace of Antivirus, Firewall, or anything that might take up system resources. Then, get every single driver upgraded to the latest version [this may not be the best ideea for the video card; I recommend nVidia 66.93]. Also, check your system for virii, spyware, adware [these things are pretty well hidden, and take up lots of resources].

 

As a final resort, I'd recommend a clean install, latest drivers and another try... If it doesn't work out, start thinking about an upgrade, starting with the mainboard / CPU / Ram, followed by the much needed vid card...
