KnockOut
Ok. When I first installed the game, I was able to play decently - and I use the word DECENTLY because although it ran and was compatible with my joypad, I was stuck playing it in the worst resolution to make it run smoothly. (I made a post about this - about how when I tried increasing the resolution it started messing up the framerate, resulting in glitchy movement/overall gameplay.) This has now become the LEAST of my problems... - When I made the post, I was told to download the newest driver for my GeForceMX4 graphic card, WHICH I DID... but here's what happened. I installed the driver and it made my desktop switch to the low quality 600x800 resolution. (Not the game this time, but my actual Windows desktop.) When I tried going to properties, I no longer had the option to change my resolution to ANYTHING higher than 600x800, which is weird... because normally you can put it at 1080x764 or whatever you desire. After troubleshooting for a little while, I found out that alls I needed to do was go into my control panel and UPDATE the drivers I had just installed... which gave me back the option to change my resolution to something higher. (Basically, it fixed my problem and installed the drivers correctly.) - Once I got to this stage, I tried playing and the game no longer would load. I would get the splash screen where you can click "Play GTA: San Andreas" and "Install DirectX" - (you know what I screen I'm refering to, when you first put the disc in...) - but once I click PLAY... it goes no where. It's almost like my cd drive just falls asleep, because the light on it stops reading the disc. THIS IS A PROBLEM I'M NOT CONCERNED WITH, because I know that reinstalling the game after installing those drivers is probably the reason for this, and what I need to do. BUT HERE IS MY REAL PROBLEM: - I can't uninstall the game!! I get a wierd ass message telling me something about $10.50, (sounds crazy,) and it gives me Rockstar's web address... When I 'X' out of that error, another window pops up that gives me 3 steps to follow... it says something along the lines of: 1. Close any running programs. 2. I forget 2, sorry lol... 3. Check my internet settings/connection. The strange thing is, I HAVE NO INTERNET in my room where the game is installed, so I'm stumped. My only hope is that somebody else in here has had the same problem and can tell me what to do. To recap: the problem didn't start until I installed the newest GeForceMX4 drivers - WHICH INSTALLED CORRECTLY MIGHT I ADD - but now the game won't run OR uninstall. What should I do?? Thanks a bunch everybody, please help!!

GodGell
600*800? 1080*764? do you have a weirdass graphics card or is it simply your memory that's so bad? btw: i have a GeForce4 MX440, as well, but i have no problems (i run the game at 640*480, on very high quality) with it. i won't try uninstalling it. RCagent
I don't get what you're so mad about, 800X600 resolution isn't that awful.
GTA3Freak-2001
This should go in the PC Troubleshooting forum! I'll move it for you.
jyrks
Maybe you try no cd crack or something? I have MX440 too, runs on the drivers downalodded from windows update, and I think that 800x600 isn't bad at all(graphics also on low but more than half draw distance), and the game runs pretty well
Abadede
Have you tried using Win XP's system restore feature? It has help me out of a lot of problems. Restore your pc to when it was working properly. I don't know if the current Nvidia drivers are ok for your card; but if you insist on installing the driver you should do it in this order: Download Driver Cleaner (Burn it to cd and install it on your bedroom pc.). Uninstall the old drivers Boot into safe mode and use Driver Cleaner Get back into windows and install the new drivers Restart windows. (You should do the above everytime you change video drivers.) If the same problem occurs then the new drivers may not be good for your video card.
