Omellette
For the love of God, I just can't get past the 2nd race in the Mt. Chiliad Challenge... My race tactic is to hang close in the back of the pack until the long straightaway by the cabin. Then punch it hard there to take the lead, and try to hold on until the finish. But for some god-forsaken reason, I can't seem to control the bike AT ALL. I'm fully maxxed out on my cycling skill, and it just doesn't seem to matter. One slight graze against the wall and I spin out uncontrollably. Not to mention the extreme frustration that comes with trying to start pedalling again while trying to get back in the proper direction. I always seem to spin the bike to far, etc... I just HATE riding the stupid bicycles. But I want to get that 100% and I need to do these races. If I can't get some advice and finish this soon, though, I'm going to snap my disc, I so p.o.'d right now...

Zach
I would say your "tactic" doesn't work. No, these races are rigged. For example, in normal gameplay, I'm a master on the NGR-500 (or any motorcycle for that matter), but in the "Dam Rider" race, the handling is completely whacked. I mean, if I start the race accelerating, I'm instantly doing a wheelie! Er, excuse me, but that is not possible to do unless you lean back (which I wasn't). And same as Omellette, one touch from another rider is almost instant spin-out. Again, in normal gameplay, this never happens. Anyway, Omellette, you'll just need to adapt to the new handling and change your racing style. I guess that's why they call them "Challenges," eh? Cojawfee
What you should do is strive for first on any straightaway, cut corners. You don't really have to go through the chekpoints, just be near them. When I did this race, by the time I got to the bottom, there was no one near me I was ahead so far. pixelrage
I passed on the 2nd shot....I just wound up taking it easy, and NOT going off-road (b/c that's when you crash). Interesting tip, there's a part of the race where you go around the rim of a steep cliff...you can bump one of the other racers down there into the water

It seems that every turn I do -- even though I'm not pulling back on the stick, I can see CJ leaning backwards. Even just sitting there stopped, right after a spin out. It's almost like all the bicycle "skill" is removed -- like the game is just started and you've never ridden a bike before. It's insane, after getting used to riding with some stability... I knew about the cutting corners tip -- it was the only way I seemed to have a chance on the first race down the mountain... And with my luck, the 3rd race is worse. Joy...
