Overture
There must be something else running, even if it isn't in the taskbar. It could be a service, or just running in the background. First recommendation - do you have any windows-skinning tool installed like windows-blinds or something that changes the total appearance of windows? Some users have experienced that software trying to "skin" gtasa and dropping to the desktop as a result. doesn't have to be in the taskbar to be active. Secondly - press CTRL-ALT-DEL and look in the task manager to see what PROCESSES (not applications) are running in the background. At the same time, go to start-run- type in MSCONFIG(enter) and go to the "startup" tab to see what programs are running at startup. These don't show up in your "startup" folder. Try and correlate between the startup progs and the processes in task manager to see if you have something running that shouldn't be, or you forgot about. I've certainly forgotten my fair share of installs, such as tweakui and others. It's also a good way to remove things from startup that don't otherwise give you the option. Sorry if that sounds dumbed-down but I don't know your skill level with windows. Hope it helps. edit: just as an afterthought, you aren't hitting the windows key are you? Maybe gtasa isn't blocking it properly. There are progs that disable it totally, do a google search for "disable windows key", you should find some.
